Express Bus Operator Posted September 14, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2014 I could be wrong, But I think you have to retake the test all over. Don't remember exactly how the procedure works. I only had my CDL permit for 6 months and took the road test the first week of August.

You can renew it once without taking any written exams, just maybe another basic eye examination. After two years, you have to take the exams all over again. peacemak3r Posted September 14, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2014 I was also told that you would have to re-take the CDL written exam if expired before taking the road test. Best you contact the DMV for that information.

OnlyTheTruthSorry Posted April 11, 2015 Share #8 Posted April 11, 2015 If you change your drivers license from D class to C class you can renew your cdl permit as many times as you want.
+Young+ Posted April 14, 2015 Share #9 Posted April 14, 2015 If you change your drivers license from D class to C class you can renew your cdl permit as many times as you want. That may be true but if you want to become a bus operator, you have to take the jump from Class D to Class B, which means that you're only allowed to renew it once before taking the exams all over again.
