  1. Thanks for the link, I've reviewed their top pay and compared to my future progression at my current job. I'm still undecided as I'm pretty comfortable at my current job. Already sent my deferment request to MTA though just in case.
  2. Completely forgot I took this exam and just received the letter for pre-employment. Someone mentioned that top pay is 35/h? I currently make more than that and just weighing options for future growth. Does anyone know max pay for IT positions in MTA? Data Points: I forgot what position I was on the list, so sorry about that. I may have posted that earlier on this thread.
  3. Only up to 1600 eh? It seems to really look like I'm skipping out the MTA career as I'm progressing in my current career.
  4. I was around the trail-end of that, 5:30ish PM. I thought the buses were being re-routed down Lexington for the BM's but ironically enough I caught my BM3 at 54th and 5th. But the traffic on 23rd was ridiculous.
  5. The buses are indeed clean...on the outside. But generally in the morning rush, everything is fine; spotless inside. It's the evening rush back that I usually catch the filthy ones. (inside the bus of course). I started taking a later bus and it's been cleaner at least. But I've definitely had some issues with the 4:00-6:00PM buses...(pretty much the super expresses going back to Brooklyn.)
  6. Anywhere to complain about the cleanliness of the express buses? Specifically the BM3 and BM4. I'm not sure if it's my luck or not but lately on the way home; the BM3/4's I catch are freakin' filthy or have a bad odor to them. Ugh.
  7. Grew up with the RTS', will definitely missed them!
  8. These people are homeless, still no excuse. I haven't ridden the subway in so long and after watching that video, I'm glad I don't.
  9. If I were in my twenties, I would have considered it for the pension alone. But now I'm comfortable in my spot with room to grow still! Though worse come to worse, I can defer this for any future mishaps with the company? My list number is #34xx
  10. Got a random call today, about passing OPA...thought I'd get a letter instead of a call. Either way, don't think I'll be going through the process if I get the real call. Landed a pretty solid spot and I'll be taking a severe pay cut if I took the conductor position instead. Even with MTA pension, I don't think it's worth it to be honest. Good luck to everyone else though!
  11. So who did I see today at Kings Highway taking photos of the terminating there? 😁
  12. I was somewhat under the same situation though I didn't get to change my OPA date, maybe I got connected with the wrong people. I, however, did get approved to take a personal day off, sucked that it was deducted from my remaining annual leave.
  13. I guess I'm having a more respectable view on it as I'm technically working for the city (no advancement though) and unionized. There's no way I can just walk out if MTA (or anyone offering higher) calls me on a better position. Back to main topic, does OPA results typically take as long as the regular test?
  14. I have the exact feeling with my current job. Honestly though if a higher paying job calls or MTA calls, I'd hope I'm given sufficient time to part ways with my current job that has given me the opportunity. SMH.
  15. For the money order, who am I suppose to put to pay for or do they let us know those details when I get there?
  16. If I recall, it was around 96%. Also for the extra $25, does it have to be money order?
  17. Hey guys, I'm listed #34xx and I just received my OPA letter today. Just wanted to ask a few things, is the OPA like an interview type of test or is it like the memorization type of test for the NYPD. There's no initial dress code for this assessment as well right? All questions aside, I'll probably take a shot at this after my shift at work.
  18. Anyone know what testing they are doing on the southbound Brighton express track with those R46's? Also I've been seeing the same two kids taking videos at Kings Highway, show yourselves!
  19. 34xx, if I get rapid promotion in my current job, I don't think I'm going to take this anymore.
  20. I almost forgot I took this damn exam...time flies. I'm fairly certain my current career path will overtake a path into MTA it seems. That's one less person you'll have to worry about. Though just for kicks, if I do somewhat get hired and pass these classes for Conductor; is it true I can be promoted anywhere else as long as it's within MTA rights? Right now I'm still on my IT path, say I get conductor but want to move into more IT roles in the MTA, would it be easier as I would be previously employed by the MTA? If not, I guess I'll stay on my current path and just apply if something juicy opens up.
  21. So pretty much like these iconic dollar vans.
  22. Yes it's not a race but if this exam is going to be as simple as the conductor, I can honestly see myself leaving after 20-30 minutes like the conductor's exam. (Mind you, I only got 2 wrong on the conductor's which I believe was the questions that "looked" like had two answers, tbh). Not really worried about these exams though, as everyone knows it takes awhile to get a response back anyway...more worried about getting a quick job right now in the process. The hardships of IT world for me.
  23. The face you get when you received a letter about this test coming up and completely forgot you applied for it.
