Does anyone know how many people got hired from the 3600 test and what number they stopped on?

On list 3600, 889 eligibles were appointed and the last eligible appointed was 384x. You’ll see this reflected on the next main seniority pick. From what I’m seeing it looks like a little over 56 eligibles were put in the last classes which you don’t see on the 2018 main pick sheets

Does anyone know what happens when they reach their eligible limit or four years has passed. Do they offer you another job or remove you off the eligible list. To try again at something else

When the list expires, you are no longer eligible for that title and you are expired. I know from my knowledge, with the old C/R list they were offering Station Cleaner positions, but that wasn’t the case with 3600 Track Worker. As opposed to C/R and Cleaner (Stations), the lowest MOW title is Railroad Track Cleaner, but that is now scarce. Unfortunate, but there are other ways to get OTJ.

If all goes well, the TA will most likely reach 3000 list numbers again, if all goes well. The title isn’t being phased out and there will never be a shortage of track maintenance, and surely SAP is still in place because that is part of the new 20-24 capital plan.

I see them just extending this list in the future regardless, so people with those numbers should have a fighting chance. There is of course a small percentage the TA will just not hire as many as they once have, but that is all according to how many guys are promoting and/or retiring, and how badly they want the system to continue it’s own demise. I’ll remain optimistic.

Any updates / news after the results were delivered. Took me 2 weeks to get the address situation fixed. I have my fingers crossed it is resolved. Just curious if anyone has updates. Thx

From my perspective there is no new updates, however one of the things you can do is keep an eye on the Civil Service List Certification page by either typing your name or "Track Worker" in the search box on the top right hand side, followed by pressing "enter" on your keyboard. As soon as the agency requests a list of candidates, regardless of how many, the information will show on this website first before those selected candidates get a letter in the mail inviting them to report for pre-employment processing.

Good luck everyone!!

How did you get the address situation fixed? I still haven't received my scores. What do I have to do?

Create a login and register with the DCAS, email: examsunit@nyct.com - explain address situation and include: exam # (8600) , name, new and old address and last 4 digits of SS#, call and confirm/explain situation. I did all of these things and now hopefully wait for results/ response. Last option is to go down to 1 Centre Street and fix in person. I'm currently out of state and cant go in person till mid March. I had called and spoke with someone in Transit who gave me all this information. Hope it worked and hope it helps you. Keep posting new information

Amtrak is a good job. It's always good to weigh in your options. I honestly wouldn't mind being a Cleaner (Stations), or a garbage picker as a Track Worker. As long as I get to quit my current job lol

Can any track workers share any info regarding typical pay. I know currently it is 22 /hr 1st year, and goes up for 4 yrs. Just some basic info like, average hours a week, lowest pay check / highest pay check. Is pay day biweekly / weekly. Just some basic info like that, help determine where I would like to relocate and what to expect regarding pay. NY is an expensive town to live in. Any information like that would be appreciated. Thx

Starting is $23.17 (this changes March 5th due to new contract, not sure what new starting will be) 40 hours a week with biweekly pay. OT is really scarce at the moment due to the whole LIRR scandal. Reach top pay at start of sixth year, you have to complete five.

payrate as of last contract is

23.17 - 24.82 - 26.48 - 28.13 - 29.79 - 33.10

again this will change March 5 with new contract as top pay will be increasing by $3 and change.

take home is up to you really, depends on how much you put into your 401,457, if you even decide to have em, insurance options.  Was about 1200 biweekly take home when I first started, I only had 401 at time I’ve since switch to both 401/457.

If OT if comes back like it did before you can make money, I remember when I first started there was months long stretch with OT every weekend. 8 extra shifts a check. Now you can’t really get 1 extra shift a check in maintenance nights. capital workers are budgeted differently and aren’t really effected by this OT shortage.

The payrate increases for the new contract is once a year for 4 years, retroactive to May 2019.

The increases are 2%, 2.25%, 2.5%, and 2.75%.  First year pay as after March 2019 will be  $23.63, after May 2020 it will be $24.17, after May 2021 it will be $24.77, and after May 2022 it will be $25.45.

@Queensqueens111 so they should be hiring about that amount this year?

By law they are suppose to have about 2500 trackworkers due to the mileage of track in the system. But I don’t think they ever keep that number up. We’ll see come the pick how many jobs are budgeted.  Think last pick had about 2100 jobs to choice from, so I suspect at least 200 hopefully being hired this year.

Any thoughts on the news that MTA looking to cut over 1000 jobs ? How do you think we will be affected?

We'll see what happens as time progresses, however according to this article, there is one sentence which states "The 2,700 layoffs announced over the summer as part of the Transformation Plan aimed mostly at white collar positions, and minimal union jobs."

Does a list number below 4000 guaranteed that you will be called  before the list expires or its just luck if you ever get called?

I have been trying to guess about list numbers, time frame to employment, etc.. there is just no way to answer that with confidence. Many people dont accept job, fail screening or for other reasons dont make it regardless of list #. Now with everything that is happening with the job layoffs,  it's even harder. Might move slower , might move faster. I wish I knew too. My guess would be any # from 1 - 500 might be called this year. Maybe another 500- 600 next year. I think its possible to reach the higher thousands in about 3 - 4 yrs. They might even extend this list like they did the prior one. Have hope
