+Young+ Posted September 25, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2022 Yesterday, I took the Civil Service Exam for Sanitation Worker at the Queens Computer-based Testing and Application Center (CTAC). Since I was early, I decided to walk over to Queens Blvd and 82nd Avenue. Although this webpage mentions that the R-33 Subway car was sold for over $230,000 a few months ago, believe it or not, as you can see in the pictures, the Subway car is still there, without the fence or the wooden platform that was set up. Enjoy!!

trainfan22 Posted September 25, 2022 Share #3 Posted September 25, 2022 The fact that bad behaving railfans haven't cannibalized this car is an amazing feat in itself. The Rollsigns, the number plates, the resistors, the 3rd rail shoes, etc are all there! Museum cars ON TA property in TA yards have had parts like rollsigns and number plates stolen from them.

Railfans who want one as a souvenir Theres railfans out there who be stealing the tools from train crews bags when they leave the cab to investigate BIE's and those items are even less interesting than the underbody car parts of this SMEE IMO
texassubwayfan555 Posted September 26, 2022 Share #6 Posted September 26, 2022 Call those people what they are, thieves. They don't deserve to be called railfans. Btw, what does BIE mean?

This car/display was so poorly advertised (I think it was officially a Queens tourism office or something) that nobody knew it was ever there in the first place lol.
texassubwayfan555 Posted September 26, 2022 Share #9 Posted September 26, 2022 Those air conditioners are probably more valuable than SMEE underbody parts.
