UlmerPark B6 Posted February 1, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2009 I went on a citywide ride around the system. At Hoyt St.- the signs replaced the signs, And in Queens, the signs are gone and the signs replaced them. Can someone explain about this?
metsfan Posted February 1, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 1, 2009 Possible that they were uncovered for some reason, or put there denoting the impending service changes. It could also be a prank. - A
ghome Posted February 1, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 1, 2009 It is for the WEEKEND GO. The replaces the for a few weekends and the goes to Queens for extra service for the GO because the does not go to Manhattan for a few weekends.
INDman Posted February 1, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2009 Were the signs you saw on the at Hoyt white? If so they are temps for the GO that just hook on to the existing signs just for the weekends.

INDman Posted February 2, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 2, 2009 I think the is supposed to go to Astoria full time under the service cut when the is eliminated. I guess the station dept. sign guys are trying to stay one step ahead.

Those could be just temporary stickers for the G.O., no point in making an entire sign.
mark1447 Posted February 2, 2009 Share #8 Posted February 2, 2009 The reason is becuz its a GO and they want passangers to know what train is stopping and/or replacing.. its temporary if its on a White Background Like when they had the switch at south ferry, at Bowling Greeb it said tha the is heading via the 7th avenue line on the brooklyn Platform. Its notmal. And no, just becuz the is there doesnt mean it will be permanent. Its just there to tell passangers that the is running on the Astoria Line for the GO with the , or possibly becuz the worker forgot to replace with

They just need to replace the signage with the . Now unless they cut the with the then the would permanently head there on the hours until 2nd avenue line is done
FlushingExpress Posted February 3, 2009 Share #11 Posted February 3, 2009 i find it strange that the has the money to make these temporary G.O. signs and yet, are complaining about having a $1.2 billion deficit. these white signs are also at Sheepshead Bay and Kings Highway for the Avenue U and Neck Road rehabilitation project. Forest Glen Posted February 3, 2009 Share #13 Posted February 3, 2009 It doesn't make sense for the Q to end in the middle of Manhattan. It should go to Astoria 24/7.
