The A/C on those buses is non existent. I rode one on the BX12 where it was hotter INSIDE the bus than it was outside! IIRC, the A/C on those units was weak when they ran on the M15 as well. Interior in a lot of them are raggedy as well.

I remember when those buses were new, never did I imagine them to age so poorly.

Not only is the A/c non-existent, they also have an obnoxious sound coming from them.

Do the Cuomo Nova 40ers in general have crappy A/C or I just got an defective bus? In my experiences of the current fleet the buses with the best A/C are the most recent batch of XD60s we have, most recent batch of XD40s and the Orion NGs.

    C40s have good A/C also

Yesterday I was waiting for a b12 the driver would not let me on stating that it was to full. But that’s not fair. Someone got off .Why can’t a take her place and get on? That is not right and I think I, going to report it. Is there any reason it was ok? Please sound away

Did you a favor IMO. I wouldn't want to be on a packed bus.

If the R211's are surely delayed because of the pandemic and all major projects are on hold, we are going to return to a major car shortage if (MTA) does not realize that they can not run full service without the R32's and R42's once we return to Phase 4.

Does this also mean that Queens Blvd CBTC is on indefinitely on hold? So that whole Jamaica/Coney Island yard swap was pretty much pointless?

Queens Blvd CBTC is pretty much paid for assuming that there's no other contracts needing awarding.

Off topic, but B42 riders get a free subway ride since B42 riders don't have to swipe to transfer to the (L) train:D I've been abusing the hell out of that loophole.

Quite frankly anyone in the area of Rockaway park also has a free ride onto the train too. The whole lot where the buses enter are free for all walks of life to just walk in. What a waste of time and money.

It's more expensive to paint one scheme than another?

Blue paint costs more than white, and with some of the buses clocking in nearly 10 years old (C40, 1200s, 3G, 2011 LFS) I personally dont think its worth the expense.

Does anybody know if the Eagle Team still does inspections ever since the local buses became free? Yes, I know you still gotta pay on SBS but if nobody is enforcing that fare....

I try to avoid the SBS only because the machines you put your Metrocard in are garbage and there's a good chance your card will get messed up using those machines.

Somewhat related, I know of someone (pre pandemic) who farebeated on the SBS and the eagle team cought him, when the eagle team took off of the bus, he took off running! They didn't bother to chase him so he pretty much got away with it LMAO

I have been told that they aren't allowed to collect the fare (how true that is I don't know)

I personally haven't seen them around on the B46 SBS but I still put my card in ( I usually take the train in some fashion during the trip)

Generally speaking to the former, one thing that absolutely pisses me off about any employer/workplace, is not being given the proper tools for the job... Makes it too easy to pin any failures on its workforce.... I have walked off of assignments in the past due to that BS, but that's neither here, nor there.....

Luna Park is famous for this. I've had so much frustration due to lack of tools.

IMO: 5439 and 5441 should went to Gun Hill, Quill or stayed at Flatbush for SBS service instead of sending to KB. Hopefully, picture is forthcoming for this.

They sen't buses from Flatbush to GH so i doubt they need 5439 and 5441.

All together now...more proof that...the craziest people in America come from the Bronx, and all of Florida! People will deny it, but this is proof of that and there is proof every day of it.

Shit ain't all that sweet in Brooklyn either...

I rode 7510 on the B7 back when Fresh Pond's XD40s were brand new and that is hands down one of the worst routes I have ever been on.

But serves as an alternative to the B8 cause the B8 is also piss poor. If MTA would run the routes in the area with some consistency it wouldn't be so bad.

  12. 23 minutes ago, QM1to6Ave said:

MTA is probably worried the B/O's will get killed over that, just like they aren't supposed to enforce the fare, just press the farebeater button. This actually makes me wonder why the homeless don't try to get on the express buses more often.

Because most don't go back in service right away. The trains largely run end to end all day but the express buses are for the most part peak only.

So even with articulates and buses running in 5-10 minute intervals during rush hours, we still get packed buses? Poor Church Avenue.

Problem is there's gaps of up to 35-40 minutes elsewhere.

I wonder if the 2014-2015 New Flyer XD40's are falling under the new 6 year repaint cycle, because if that's the case... Ulmer Park's XD40's really gonna need some TLC...

7148 already been repainted, so its time.

Saw it last night while on Nostrand. Just a bit surprised that buses are being moved during this situation.  At the least FB got the last bus to complete 29 XD60’s 2017.

I wonder what’s gonna happen with the M14SBS down the line since the (L) project is 99.999% done with the remaining .1% of projects to be finished by fall or early 2021 due to the crisis.

The M14 will still have the LES residents riding it.

Late to this but I will add that Clever Devices modified the third screen to be a smaller size and fit between the pole in the aisle and the wall of the bus, due to the fact that XD60s have the rear AC vent on the roof (and to my knowledge Version 2 doesn't have that capability)

I'm guessing that the XE60s got Version 3 for parts commonality

    Makes alot of sense

    Will Manhattan get redesigned?

All boroughs are getting a redesign. What may end up happening in Manhattan is straight up bastardization (cuts of routes to places people don't go, and the complete removal of overs of which the M7 is looking like maybe a possible axe due to duplicating a route on every portion but what do I know.)

The Bustrek bunker is literally around the corner from the ENY end of the B12. How are there so many dispatchers inside that building covering all 5 boroughs and they can't even fix a route that's literally right in front of their noses?

Because they don't care when an operator is late, only if he/she is early so they can discipline them.
