I know this is really random, but why do they run only XD40s on the M66/72? And before XD40 they only ran RTS.

The batteries on the Orions would probably scrape the side of the tunnels where the clearance is much lower than say the middle of the road.

The train will sit in the yard for years for insurance purposes.. like many other wrecked subway cars of years past.

Most likely what will happen is the good cars in the burned set will be stripped of parts to use in other 142s, the other 5 car set would eventually return to service and the burned cars would get scrapped. But in the grand scheme of things who really cares who happened to the consist, someone died here.

Should come as no surprised as you're dealing with subway buffs here lol

R.I.P to the conductor. These pics shook me up and lost of life is no joke.

Too bad they didn’t order more buses for MTA bus with this order. If they ordered more buses they wouldn’t have to keep those 2017 XD60s at LGA.
Plus I know it’s been on the table for a while for a possible Q6 and Q64 conversion so it makes me wonder why it hasn’t been a priority.

You must have missed the memo on the Q64 and Q10 being combined lol

they should've use those 13 NYCT XD60s for the Q70 SBS until they get a new batch of artics for the Q70. Wrapping 13 2020 XD60s in the LGA Link wrap, and using 2020 and 2017 XD60s on the Q53 just triggers my OCD. And that yellow under the LGA Link wrap is irking me. They clearly know the bottom portion of the bus is wrapped in the local scheme with the SBS wrap. They could've just took the yellow off the back so the light blue and show under the LGA Link wrap (unless those 2020 XD60s aren't staying on the Q70).

MTA always pulling a Bx12 and swapping out fleets...

This is interesting, looks like Charleston & Castleton is fighting to get the new Prevost. Word was that the 50 buses were to go to Charleston because they're the only depot in S.I without a newer fleet, but I was also told Castleton wants a piece.

These buses will apparently be split between Charleston/Castleton in a 32/18 assignment. This would retire the 4300s from Charleston and send Prevost from Castleton to Yukon to retire the 2002 units and increase service.

None of this is official, I'm just going off what I heard.

@SevenEleven @Cait Sith can yall confirm this?

Didn't they just get 2015 X3s? If anything all three should have a piece lol

Someone needs to notify LGA and tell them "hey, the light blue SBS wrap is under the local scheme. U can peel off the yellow on the back so there can be a light blue base under the LGA Link wrap instead."

I really don't get why they couldn't wrap the 2017 60xx buses. There's 13 buses right there for them. Keep the routes UNIFORMED.

They probably want the buses with the most cameras on the route.

Anybody know when those Orion VII OGs at MHV, MJQ, and MCH will be replaced - and what with?

They will be replaced when the time is right and with the same model buses thats out now pretty much (unless we have another 90 bus test fleet similar to the 2011 fleets)...

There needs to be something done with the s40/s90 for Amazon workers. I am hearing reports that ridership is still heavy due to the operations at Matrix Park.

I'd be the one to walk to Victory Blvd and catch the S62 or express bus lol

Yeahh I was referring to buses that MTA installed at the select depots, basically any blue and white bus with the screens, thanks for clearing that up.

I would hope that the XDE40s come with version 2, and installed like how they are on the XN40s. I was really confused as to why the XE60s came with Version 3 and why they did not install them with the same placement as the LFSAs, three individual screens evenly spaced out. That back to back shit on the Xcelsiors looks very tacky.

They have them installed based on where the vents are on the buses. The screen can go in the front on the XN40 cause the front has no vent.

Never would of expect East New York Depot to house more 2009 NG Hybrids than Grand Avenue Depot.... (GA=026, ENY=027)

In my opinion, DOB should convert Grand Avenue Depot to operate Xcelsiors only (and the five Proterra units). It would be nice if the remaining 26 NG Hybrids would be swapped for 2018-2019 Xcelsior XD40s (Just my opinion)....

Its only because the B38 became a artic route.

Makes me wonder if it's all the new standard LFS specs and not actual MTA specs, (double LED headlights, silver rims, wide rear door, rear window, the new seats, high visibility window, streamlined roof).

The bus is probably a render they have on their computer for video purposes.

Surprisingly, I took three Grand Avenue 2015 NFI Xcelsior XD40s without screens since the new year began.

The units were 7194, 7198, & 7241. I fear these units at Grand Avenue will be forgotten for a while since most buses at Grand Avenue Depot already have them installed....

Unless someone has a list of which buses have the equipment or bus ops put in some card.

We're reaching the point in which some buses are becoming harder to find, or we simply just don't live in the vicinity of said buses and routes. I'd suggest waiting until you have at least 5 buses to report, to reduce the amount of pages being created in this thread. No point of posting a bus a day, just save your observations until the end of the week or post when you have a bunch.

This is especially true for the Brooklyn Division XD40s as I seem to run into less of them without screens.

  14. 5 hours ago, OrionVIIonM79 said:

That would make the most sense because they are retiring the 2005/6/7 Orions and they pride themselves for being 100% hybrid electric, and they will need new buses after retirement. Also MHV is not suitable for artics

Or buses from Brooklyn may end up there just like buses from Staten Island and the Bronx did....

  15. The B84 and M12 come to mind as routes that should probably be axed. From what I seen, most of the M12 ridership is along 57 street for when the M31 or M57 dont show up in a certain time (606 w57 residents and the like in that pocket of manhattan coming from/going to columbus circle). The B84 is basically an express B83 to New Lots from/to Gateway center.
