  1. It does serve the middle of nowhere. During track season, it's packed (by Albany standards) from Schenectady riders. Off-season, while it does get a few riders from Schenectady, from what i've noticed, Milton and beyond is when ridership starts to improve. You also have to consider, Saratoga routes get really crappy ridership, so for a Saratoga route, it's doing pretty good.
  2. Here's an idea: Extend the B67 to the station via 16th Avenue, and the B69 to Ocean Avenue, via Cortelyou Road.
  3. For under 22K, if you need/want AWD that is by far the best car you can get. Also i'll 1-up on the vacation.... Got the regents in a few days, but after that i'm sure it's gonna be feel like school's over in a few days. I have to say, I originally thought i'd be really upset that these are my last few weeks at Hackett, but this year has been so bad, i'm glad i'm going to the high school next year... (of course I say that now....)
  4. Biggest news first, shall we? CDTA has officially announced the planning of two new BRT routes, one from Troy to the South End neighborhood in Albany, and the other from Downtown Albany to Crossgates Mall. The Hudson River route currently has the following stations planned: Morton, Madison, State, Clinton Square, Livingston, North Albany, Riverview Center, South Watervliet (which will have a P&R), Downtown Watervliet, Congress, Fulton/Riverfront, and Hoosick/Hedley (One part of the PDF says that that stop is planned for a future provision, while another says it is planned for the first phase). Future provisions include extensions to Cohoes, Waterford, and Port Of Albany. Passengers surveys have already been completed for local alternatives. Data collection has already begun, and the route will effect over 2 million annual riders. Next is the Washington/Western BRT which currently has the stops of Albany Bus Terminal, Broadway, State, Capitol/Hawk, Lark/Armory, Thurlow/UA Downtown, Quail, Partridge/St. Rose, Allen/Madison, Colonial, Harriman, UAlbany, Fuller/CSNE, and Crossgates which will also have a Park & Ride. The BRT line is expected to be on Western Avenue, and will include two new infrastructure projects. The first is a busway inside the Harriman and UAlbany campuses, and the second (and arguably more exciting) is a brand new transit center at Crossgates Mall, that is expected to include busways, and an indoor terminal/layover spot! Future provisions call for extensions to Rensselaer and New Karner Road. There are also provisions for the 905 to be extended to Scotia. The new BRT corridors will make a total of 40 miles of new BusPlus, which will be CDTA's top priority for the next five years. Other exciting news: The 29 is now revived in some extent, because the 182 is now absorbing the 129, making a one-seat ride from Cohoes to Albany again. CDTA is also expected to have universal access with HVCC by the end of the year. NX Ridership has gone up 25-35% with an average of over 150 more boardings a day. Also, all routes introduced by Phase 1 Route Reconstruction are performing above the productivity threshold. CDTA is also debating changing the productivity threshold for trunk routes, because there are trunk routes, that are performing well, but are below the standard. Route #50 is also being re-classified as a neighborhood route because of the high headways. Minor changes: Route #12 will have increased frequency on Saturdays, Route #224 will have increased frequencies during middays, Route #530 will have an extra trip to ease overcrowding, Route #712 will have additional trips, the 905 will have 15-minute headways well into the evening, and Route #875 will now serve the National Museum of Dance. Route #370 will now have a different route in Downtown Schenectady due to delays on the previous route. http://www.cdta.org/documents/2013RoutePerformanceReport.pdf

  9. Yeah, but what could possibly cause this that's not lethal?
  10. A bit OT, but regarding Dyckman: I had a friend who lived off of that stop who told me that before the renovation, he stepped on the platform strip, and it crumbled underneath him. Why is every liquid in that station yellow? I remember the stalagmites (or whichever one comes from the ceiling) there were yellow, and when the station got flooded, all the water was yellow.
  11. My teacher was beyond an a**hole today. So, I missed 8 days of school, and she says "By the way, all three packets are due tomorrow" and the whole class is like "WHAT!?" and I only had ONE packet. So I raise my hand, so that I can get the two that I don't have, and she says to me "Put your hand down, i'm not giving you an extension, even if you're not here, you still have to make the work up" and i'm like "Um... I just need the other two packets" and she goes "Yeah, i'll give them to you, but i'm not giving you an extension, I'm tired of hearing your excuses" and then again I say "Um.... I don't want an extension, I just want the packets..." and she continues on this rant about how she's tired of my B.S. in front of the WHOLE CLASS. Keep in mind, this is coming out of our class time, and we only have 3 days until finals. It might not sound that bad, but it was bad enough that people immediately after kept asking if I was "ok" and that they couldn't believe she did that. (And normally when someone gets dished by a teacher they just sit and stare) Also Turbo19, and ttcsubwayfan, THIS is why I would much rather have the office up my ass, instead of the teachers.
  12. Part #1: An epic FAIL on YouTube's part. The whole point of the "One" channel is to have the same channel among all devices. Well, I tried to upload a banner picture that said "I am expressing my dissatisfaction with the new layout" and it says that the pic is going to be cropped in all of the layouts except TV, and i'm like WTF? Part #2: Went to the Rensselaer County DMV today, even though i live in Albany County to get my non-drivers ID for a school trip to Montreal, and the whole place smelled like cigarettes and ratchet, but I was in and out in less than an hour, so that's a plus. (The whole place was on a line system, and instead of being filled with stereotypical lazy DMV workers, it was filled with a bunch of hard-working productive Italians.) Part #3: I am worried as hell for the Spanish speaking final tomorrow, and of course studying just makes me worry even more, so it's very counter-productive. I'm pretty sure I know the material, but damn, i'm scared. Ironically, i'm not even worried for the LE or Algebra Regents. Part #4: (Regarding Breeds' post) Wow.... That's why I hate this county
  13. Update: Looks like Upstate Tours (NX) sold their suburban Gillig, and bought a brand new, really shiny D4500CT. (Saw it at around 3:30 today)

  14. Oh the MCI's aren't a problem, its the trippers that use the LFS's that are the problem. (If wanted, theres an interior shot of the LFS in my CDTA thread)
  15. I HATE the YouTube "One" channel, but not surprisingly, everybody has to make the switch in 10 days... Also, not even going to comment on the new Flickr layout, but what really caught my eye is that they're discontinuing monthly allowances... Tsk Tsk, for shame.
  16. Is wondering how to go about doing an on board video of a school tripper without every single student flipping out
  17. Sweet Escape Remix
  18. LIRR Preliminary Fantasy Plan: Electrify the main line to River Road (Just east of Yaphank), and extend Ronkonkoma trains to Yaphank. (Signals would be added) The Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, and Greenport branches are merged, with new stations on the un-built tracks. (Select rush hour trains run via the Huntington Branch) (Non-peak trains connect to Huntington Branch @Huntington) West Hempstead Branch extended to Hempstead Hempstead Branch after Country Life Press runs on new trackage to Babylon (with new stations being added in the process) Hempstead Branch also does NOT run on the mainline, running through Central Queens, merging at Woodside (with new stops of course) And that's all I have right now
  19. NJ Drivers are alot worse than Nassau county drivers.
  20. Then what's the point of them then? IIRC, they get paid a fixed amount no matter how often they're pulled out, so why not use them as much as possible?
