  1. Same here. It gives me that satisfaction that the door locked and I'm not going to fall out of the train.
  2. Has anyone else noticed that the door interlocks on the R160A doesn't make that slam noise like the R160B?
  3. I took a R160B Alstom yesterday during the Brighton Express G.O. from Kings Hwy to Sheepshead Bay, it was fun. What's with the hissing R160s lately? I've been hearing them quite often.
  4. That R188 was probably on it's way to be injected into Corona. I'm going to be very sad when the last of the SMEE fleet is gone.
  5. Yesterday at around 3:15 at Coney Island (Q)s and (N)s were being turned f**king fast...in and out in 1.5 minutes. Plus how do train operators do that thing where one door is opened in each car at terminals, and why?
  6. Let's bring this thread back. The rails at Av U on the Brighton are broken, and trains cannot safely pass. In addition, the switches at Kings Hwy are stuck so that all trains keep going on their current track.
  7. Yay! I got my first read error on my student card while boarding an RTS on the B-49. Time for a new card, I bent the SHIT out of that card, it's not even funny.
  8. Almost 2 years of membership

  9. One of the Flatbush RTS's has a vibrating motor, I nearly shat bricks when the motor kicked on.
  10. **Falls off chair** The R188s are already in service? Gee, I haven't been on NYCTF for a while... I did see a 188 recently, however.
  11. Holy **** the 188s are already running? God damn, I haven't been on here for a while, that's a fact.
  12. I HAVE RETURNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God damn the 188s are already running?!? I've been living under a rock...

  13. yay 4GB of ram! Windows can see all of it but only addresses 2.96 GB, so the rest (1.4GB) becomes shared VRAM, adding to an onboard chipset with 64MB shared.

  14. Apparently the "light sensor" in my computer is experiencing a Code 10 (device not starting) in device manager. Meh. I don't even see such a thing and if I did I would have no use for such a device.

Either my 4 years in IT is insufficient but what the hell is a light sensor?

It senses how bright the light around it is...

Kind of like the sensor that detects when the head-lights should turn on in a car.

  15. Disgusted by my trusty inkjet. I opened up the print head access door and I come across the cleaning sponge. I touch it, and there is 6 year's worth of sludgy SHIT sitting there. And this is the first time I've opened it up and took a real good look at it.

Printers are some of the things where you'd rather not cheap out on.

Actually us techs are beyond cheap when it comes to maintenance. Shopping smart and good deals is rubbish compared to knowing your tech. I mean I still have my Brother printer working tip top performance and it's been 5 years already. And last year I barely touched it. Secondly, driver updates shouldn't be a bother. I've only updated my drivers twice in the 5 year duration.

If they weren't reliable now, you'd think I'd be pulling overtime to handle the situation, wouldn't you think so. My entire building still uses Brothers and we haven't had a reported incident on 'printers' for a long time. HP products are just not worth the money, I rather get a Canon printer over an HP.

  16. The funny thing is, I don't look like I know a lot about transportation.... Just to test that out, on my way home from school on the B-49, I asked a B/O, "Are they eliminating the RTS yet?" Now, this is at a stop when I asked him. He was taken aback by my knowledge and it took him 3 or so seconds to process what I said before he replied "No, not yet." Interesting.
  17. Took the bus by myself for the first time today. Rode the B-49 home because it was slushy and I hate ruining my sneakers. :(

There's a first time for everything! Sneakers are meant to be worn! Don't fall for that sneaker hype!

  18. I am BACK!!! Long time no see!

  19. I have two pieces of memorabilia... 1996 subway map (where the heck did i put that?) 2006 bus map (once again, where the heck did that go?)
  20. Going through the underside of keys on my laptop keyboard. Discovered lots of sh!t that accumulated over the years.

  21. How is everybody doing?

  22. This is Windows 7. I have a Lenovo x200S, it's a good computer except for crappy Celeron processor.
  23. Taking the Hunter College High School entrance exam later today (gotta be there @ 8:15).
