  1. That's kind of unnecessary given that the n41 is usually a few minutes, or literally right behind the n40 during the day. Plus, the n6 articulated bus stops right near the Glen Cove, Mineola, and Roosvelt Field Bays for the n27, n40/41, and n16.
  2. It's been that way ever since the articulated buses were put on the route. Pick ups and drop offs are done outside the terminal on Jackson Street because they can't enter the terminal. They can't use West Columbia either because many taxis use that side during the day to get people coming off the LIRR. Despite this, the n6 articulated trips usually get more passengers than the regular buses at HTC.
  3. I assumed that Hempstead, West Hempstead, Far Rockaway, and Long Beach branches will go to Penn Station while other branches are shifted over the Grand Central. Anything short of that would incur the wrath of Five Towns, Garden City, Stewart Manor, Floral Park, and a whole other slew of Nassau neighborhoods that rely on the LIRR.
  4. I'm starting to see blue stickers with white strips on the end bearing Transdev's name placed on buses. They were covering up the side that County Executive Ed Mangano's name on the buses, mostly because Curran doesn't want her name on them. I also saw Martin's name on some of the cabs in Nassau, advertising his run for County Executive.
  5. I wonder if this service alert regarding the n16, n35, and n43 is related to NCC's plans. Doesn't Miller Ave and Endo already have a stop? http://nicebus.com/Passenger-Information/Service-Alerts.aspx
  6. It's not much, but Curran plans to remove Ed Mangano's name from the NICE Buses and won't add hers onto them. In hindsight, it was a bad idea for the former County Executive to put his name on the buses since people knew who to blame for the service cuts. There's also something about plans to connect the Mineola LIRR station to the Nassau Hub. https://www.newsday.com/long-island/politics/laura-curran-nassau-executive-1.14910580
  7. Lots of traffic between Elmont Road and Springfield Blvd, especially as the n6 approaches Cross Island Parkway. If it's not that, then it's F. Lewis being a parking lot during the rush.
  8. I honestly expect moderate service increases on current routes under Curran's leadership. I don't expect any old routes to be resurrected, though I do see the n1 weekend service and maybe the n19 being eliminated in the next round of cuts.
  9. Mangano, Skelos, and the Venditto being caught in corruption really hurt Martin's chances at being County Executive. It's possible that voters didn't want to take a risk with 4 more years of Republicans in Nassau out of fear that another corruption scandal might hit the party. If corruption and ethics hadn't been a sudden focus, Martins might've won. He did have the lead till late last night.
  10. She will work with NICE since the n4 and 35 ran thru her district. Martins lost the moment he offended a good chunk of NICE riders with that stupid flyer or whatever linking Curran to MS-13 mailed a few days before the election.
  11. I thought the Q46 going to LIJ had it easier on Lakeville Rd, at least compared to the n25 and n26. The map just doesn't do enough to show how weird the n25 is using NHP Rd> Union Tkpe>Lakeville Rd>Marcus Ave>back to Union Tkpe again just to get to NHP Rd in just to serve the Hospital both directions. (n26 has it slightly easier) I finally get that the serve different markets, but there has to be an easier way to get those routes to access LIJ in an easy manner. The delays on Lakeville are coming from traffic on the NSP near the hospital. Back the the Q46, I'm not sure if it's feasible to have it a one way loop using side streets to avoid Lakeville Rd.
  12. I feel like it makes more sense to have the n26 serve LIJ full time than reroute the Q36 to serve 260th to cover for the Q46 in Glen Oaks. But since Nassau doesn't want to subsidize bus service for people in Queens to access their area hospitals, the Q46 has to do both LIJ and Glen Oaks it by itself.
  13. Even with LTD service, the Q60 would be stuck in traffic as it approaches the Queensboro Bridge. Traffic at Queens Plaza is one of the things that hurts both the Q32 and Q60.
  14. I'm surprised that people are still throwing eggs in this day and age.
  15. Queens Blvd during the PM is worst than the LIE, especially between Roosvelt Ave and the approach to the Queensboro Bridge.
  16. Sorta, money went into studying some north-south BRT from Stony Brook to Patchouge via Nicholls Road done by Suffolk Transit.
  17. Nah, Pine Power is an idiot. It makes no sense for Nassau to void a contract with a client they underfunded. People moving in Queens are new to the area. The long time residents are bailing for PA, VA, Florida, or North Carolina for suburban living at a much lower cost than LI.
  18. Never going to happen because Nassau wants their bus service to be like Westchester's, not like the old PBLs that used to operate in Queens.
  19. People are moving out of Suffolk County because they don't want to put up with the long commute into the city on the LIRR, traffic on the expressways, high school taxes, and low quality of living. Same goes for Nassau east of the Meadowbrook and South of Merrick Road. NICE only giving Nassau the bus service they're willing to pay for. I doubt PinePower understand that the demand for bus service in Nassau has shifted away from within the county, to transporting people in and out of it. It's why the n4,n6, n22/n24, n15, n31/32, n40/n41, and n43 are doing well out of all the routes in the system.
  20. Like Mangano, he'll most likely find another private company to run the Nassau bus system. I doubt the MTA is coming back because they know that Nassau is politically corrupt.
  21. I've been to those areas and mass transit isn't the cornerstone to those shifts. Places like LIC, Dumbo, and Park Slope, and Prospect Heights are sold based on their close proximity to Manhattan. Developers are going as far as to turn everything north of Grand Army Plaza into Manhattan just appeal to young people who want a single life in the city. Raising a family was never taken in consideration when those luxury apartments were built because Millennials believe that the traditional family is dead in the 21st Century Progressive world and taught to think that way by the politicians who espouse this rhetoric.
  22. Nonsense, Suburbia is the place to be nowadays if people are planning to start a family. Expect more people flocking out of the urban cores in the next decade because they don't want to be crammed into a luxury apartment in a densely populated city like NY, or put up with the crowded buses and subways. A lot of what you're saying hinges on the assumption that politicians like deBlasio are competent enough to keep people in the city to be close to the high paying jobs.
  23. I actually bothered to look thru the August one: http://nicebus.com/NiceBus/media/NiceBus-FrontPageSlider/July-TAAC-Minutes.pdf
  24. How is this going to affect the n16 and n43? I've heard something about a mini terminal being build by the Clusters from NICE's community meeting notes.
  25. Hempstead Trains going to Penn Station full time would eliminate the need to transfer at Jamaica for service to Manhattan. Which is good since the Babylon Branch is usually packed between Jamaica and Penn.
