  1. Caught a set of the 62s on the at Grand Central, half of it was the set from 240 and the other half was from corona. Didn't get to ride it because it was given a skip though.
  2. The weekend with the cut back, they cut it further to 34th street. 53rd street handles 21-22 TPH during the rush anyway, so it might not be as big or risky of a problem as sending the R through Montague. One signal problem there and service goes down the drain. The F is only going thru 53rd in one direction anyway.
  3. Service Change Posted: 06/09/2013 11:21PM Due to a police investigation at Church Av: Northbound [F] train service running express from Church Av to Jay St- MetroTech. [G] train service running in both directions between Bergen St and Court Sq. No [G] train service between Church Av and Court Sq in both directions. Allow additional travel time. Uhh...what's really happening here? Someone isn't proofreading.
  4. Is that also why there are some s shown as running to E 180 st right now too?
  5. That actually happened during rush hour: first signal problems at court and then signal problems on Manhattan Bridge, both Brooklyn-Bound. What a mess.
  6. That same weekend, Manhattan Bound and trains are skipping 149/Grand Councourse and late night service is running to Bowling Green via the Lex Local
  7. I would think so since the next set of crossovers is east of Grand Central
  8. It was in service and had a good number of people on it. There were even announcements saying that the next train on the uptown platform will be an uptown train making express stops to 42nd Street times square and terminating there. Maybe it took a wrong lineup?
  9. any reason an uptown got rerouted via Whitehall? saw it about 15 minutes ago while waiting for the at Canal. No pic, sorry
  10. What's been going on with the and 3 today? They've been messed up between 96 and 148/149 since before ths afternoon rush
  11. Update: Service Change Posted: 04/07/2013 11:09AM Due to AC power failure, there is no train service in both directions between 8 Av and Broadway Junction.
  12. That ended up going away shortly. However this is a disaster: Suspended Posted: 04/07/2013 10:50AM Due to AC power failure, train is suspended the entire line.
  13. Can't copy and paste it but a with mechanical problems at Bklyn Bridge has trains turning at Bowling Green and some uptown (4)/(5) running local Bklyn Bridge to 125
  14. Now southbound and trains are running express bt 4 Ave and Church Ave
  15. When did they change the side signs to read 4 Ave Exp instead of Sea Beach Express? I noticed it for the first time tonight on an uptown
  16. Didn't stick around to find out. I'll look again on Wednesday when I'm downtown
  17. Just spotted the R62 A train going into BB loop around 1 pm. A bit early no?
  18. I'll bet that has to do with that problem at wall st earlier today
  19. Saw it just now going uptown at 23rd. Car numbers were the 13xx series
  20. It's the first time that they've said specifically that it was the gap filler. Usually it's just a generic 'mechanical problem'. Kinda like when there's a gap filler problem at Union Square, it always says that & or train service is bypassing the station due to mechanical problems, though we can imply its the gap fillers.
  21. I agree with poor maintenance by Westchester Yard also. I ride all of the IRT lines every week and the ones that do have NTTs don't have that problem like the does. Even given the fact that each car has only 1 powered truck out of 2.
  22. I wonder if they're working on the crossover between the downtown tracks north of Chambers. Besides any ridership changes, seems to be a logical answer. On a similar note: Wakefield-bound trains skip 79 St and 86 St Late Nights, 12:15 AM to 5 AM, Tue to Fri, until Mar 22 Take the instead. • Transfer between and trains at 72 St or 96 St. _________________________ Only the is affected, wonder why.
  23. What would be a good idea, at least while the cars are on the 7, is to have an easier way to quickly distinguish between local and express on the side signs. Doesn't really matter much to me since I board and get off at stops where it doesn't matter, but I'm always able to see whether its a or a just by looking at the LEDs. On the 142/a one has to actually watch the side sign change readings to figure out if its a local or express, and those few seconds can make a difference in making or missing the train. Perhaps a new service number would easily take care of that if the display isn't modified to show circles and diamonds, since the number is easily visible. Disclaimer: I know this probably won't get done because of cost issues, but just an idea.
  24. From my passing LIRR train, the eastbound port washington rr platform at Woodside is packed. Use Penn Station instead.
  25. Guess it's a power outage then. Hope they fix it soon or do LIRR cross honoring.
