  1. That’s correct, which means that it’s now more of an advanced warning compared to a door-closing chime. I do wonder if this extra 2 seconds of lag time is an issue, though.
  2. Yeah but like has been said, that can’t happen. Astoria and Sea Beach needs the same number of trains (though Sea Beach could use a boost), and DeKalb can’t handle any more bridge traffic. And, where are the cars for your extra service? If you keep the same level of service to maintain Sea Beach, keep Astoria headways as it is, the extra 4th Avenue service is un-feasible until the 211’s arrive.
  3. I don’t think he did. He realizes that some would turn southbound at Whitehall, but not necessarily half, so you would have increased 4th Avenue service.
  4. It's still weird to hear trains going down to Chambers Street as "Northbound".
  5. The 7:10 comes in straight from the yard, OOS. There are trains that do that beforehand, but I don’t think the Bombardier professionals will scheduled before 7am. Again, that’s a total, total guess.
  6. I don’t, but I’d guess the first run will be an AM run from Jamaica, probably a fresh, non-overnight crew. Maybe the 7:10am out of Jamaica?
  7. Calling their comment “dumb ass” and “front the peanut gallery” is the definition of taking the bait when responding to a mild comment. Why can’t we move on and be friendly with each other, every page, it’s some member vs Bill, jabbing at the R32 debate, with Bill rephrasing the same jargon that has been de-bunked by credible insiders (Dj, Union, etc.) There are plenty of other interesting thoughts and concerns that get buried thanks to this argument (that, I admittedly have been sucked in to). We debated it, the insiders came out and told us what is what, and now we can stop arguing.
  8. My cousin is 15 (I’m over twice his age) so maybe I’m just being protective, but I don’t want him waiting in the freezing cold, and him having to run to a different platform if it comes in a different direction. He lives near the line, so Jamaica is a better place to position, and, he might even catch the first run. --- That being said, that’s good to know about Bwy Junction, I guess I got a bad impression.
  9. So, I’m guessing tomorrow morning at 8am there will be quite a party in Jamaica? My cousin is going out to see it, and I told him to position at Sutphin-JFK, that way he’s inside (removed from the cold elements), on an island platform, and you have good airport & LIRR crowds, so it’s safer than, say, Broadway Junction at 8am.
  10. Anyone know what time it should enter service, and, would you guess Hewes St, or Jamaica Center?
  11. Of course, you had every right to, and I acknowledged it was pending a good week, I alluded to that when I mentioned my source in Toronto, here’s what I said:
  12. Ok, I don’t want to argue. I trust DJ and UnionTpke, and you can trust your experience. I’ll hold on to your post for safekeeping.
  13. Hold on, Bill, I never claimed I had inside information. I told you that my friend who works for the TTC (again, she worked on the TTC Rocket/Bombardier deal) was pretty convinced that it was going to enter service on Saturday. She told me that a week ago, and, while she didn’t tell me about the pushback, my guess is it was pushed back by one day for whatever reason. After months of “further issues”, “more problems with testing”, “train seizures” , I gave what I knew on a four-year long project, and it was pushed back by mere hours. You can criticize my source, I won’t stop you, but I’m going to send her a thank you email. I never said Friday, I always said Saturday. My source, was, admittedly off by a few hours, but I’m not going to complain.... Let’s be happy they are in service.
  14. When a guy that has a foot in the door with the MTA says “enjoy the Railfan Window on the and the “, and the only railfan window left on the B Division other than the 42 is the 32, then it’s easy to put one and one together. Sure, there might be air conditioning issues, but a good amount of time in an outdoor yard and two sections of outdoor (remember, Prospect Pk isn’t the last time the goes above ground, the Manhattan Bridge is) is way more than enough. It’s confirmed, and that’s that.
  15. It entered service on a Saturday. November 9th, I believe? Either way, these whispers are a good thing. Far Rock Depot says Sunday, and my TTC friend said Saturday (which is now tomorrow) though there is every chance they’ve now pushed it back one day as an extra buffer. Let’s see.
  16. Exactly, the R46’s will run on the , the , the and Rockaway . After that you’ll have about 20 trains left over, and the and needs 35 trains. So, you’d either need 15 R68’s, or some combination of R68’s and R160’s.
  17. 51st, 68th, 77th, 96st and 103rd Street all had NTT, and were downgraded to R62a’s with thinner doors, and it’s a overpacked route, even with the SAS.
  18. Bill, I hate to tell you this, but it’s already practically confirmed that R32’s will run on the line. Running them on the and the , as has been said, means a good amount of above ground time, and they can all be maintained at Coney Island Shop. Also, I like to think that Astoria is becoming pretty hipster, and the Upper East Side is the most expensive neighborhood in North America, but that didn’t stop the from getting R62a, or the from getting R68, and the possibility of R46’s in the future.
  19. So it’s confirmed that the R46’s are going to Astoria? That’ll be so, so weird. Also, Union Tpke, I know you said you are not positive, but under this scenario, you’d have loads of unused R68’s. The entire fleet from the , and the sets on the and are placed nowhere in your proposal.
  20. Here's the thing, there ISN'T a problem. If it was 100% R68, then maybe we'd have an issue, but even if we made the 50% R68, there generally isn't an issue.
  21. See, if it’s the R68, then I truthfully have no problem, but if it’s the R46, the ugly step-brother, than I’m going to hate this change. Strange how such subtle differences is so noticeable.
  22. If it’s the R46 (which I now think it is), then, geez, that’ll be weird. The 46 is such a weird choice for the and , it’s synonymous with the train, and is so foreign to Astoria. The only good news is that then Astoria will be the first to get R211’s, whenever they come.
  23. Thanks for that list. It makes sense, with the exception of the 160's on Astoria. If the and is all old tech, how will they be able to switch the rollsigns in a pinch, if three OTT 's come in a row, how will they dispatch a ? EDIT: Oh, I see it now. The OTT you are talking about doesn’t have rollsigns, that’ll be weird.
