When all sets have CBTC installed and all the sections have been tested I guess. I think there are about two or three more sets to get CBTC installed.

Yeah, 3019 was delivered first and 3015 was last.

The car bodies were the issue. They had structural defects.

I think 3000-3009 was the first fully rejected set. They moved the order up to 3010-3019. 3000-3009 isn't part of the order anymore.

That's exactly what I said, a severe safety issue could be caused if the train gaps out..... the signs being the least of those problems.

I think there are more problems with the train shutting down over a 3rd rail gap than just the signs... it could pose a severe safety issue if the train completely stalls.

That is correct, I saw it in service today. 2081 does indeed still have a half cab. Whoever reported that a set went to Westchester must have meant 2071-75 or 2091-95.

7860-7870 was Corona's first test set which was OOS for two years. 7371-7915-7380, as you mentioned, did test with CBTC in some way but was never taken OOS. Some other sets tested OOS too, like 7491-7927-7500 which is currently OOS now. Back onto the topic of the R179s, yes they can get CBTC at a later date and probably will when needed. No, they will not have CBTC right away as they will most likely run on the and . Nothing is definite and I am not saying these assignments are set in stone, but the most logical place to put the 179s would be these routes. Any updates on 3015-3019's delivery?

Unfortunately, the set that got them installed still has them. However, no other sets have gotten them since which is a good sign. Also, when Corona replaced 7505's display with a new one, they didn't put a new LED sign over it. I wish they would take them out entirely.

All NTTs past the 143 have come CBTC ready. But no cars are delivered with CBTC equipment installed and made to be used right away. It needs to be installed first, and then programmed and extensively tested. My point is that the R179s don't have CBTC equipment installed to be used anyway, so it's pointless to shift all the cars around to Jamaica and send the 160s elsewhere if they can be used for CBTC operation themselves. IIRC, there is a 160 set at Jamaica with CBTC being tested, or at least installed. The 179s will run on the and and the Jamaica 160s will stay at Jamaica. Better to keep fleet moves to a minimal and keep things simple.

No point in sending 179s to Jamaica when they can just use the 160s for CBTC. They've already been testing some 160 sets with CBTC for QBL so might as well just keep them at Jamaica.

Most of the ads in 3014 are outdated and were displayed at the beginning of this year. Just another reminder of how ridiculously delayed these cars are. Yeah, they should have locked the storm doors and/or cab doors so people couldn't go in. As for the ad space on the front cab wall, I think the case should have been tall enough to fit the subway map, that way people don't have to lean over other passengers sitting down to be able to read it.

Well the whole "3010 doesn't exist" makes me think that as well. And denying he said that when 3010 was delivered...

Even if you don't think 3010 "exists" (it does for the record) for it to be a 5 car set, if you know 3014 and 3019 are A cars then 3010 and 3015 will be too. They wouldn't make 3011-3014 a 4 car set and then 3015-3019 a 5 car set.
