  1. Been here ~2 years - mostly lurking - and all I've seen about Montague is that something went wrong so trains aren't sent up it. Be nice to know what the issue is...
  2. I thought got R32s because: a) 8-car consists are run on both; and b) the was picked because R32 AC units kept failing since the entire runs in tunnels, while the Jamaica Line is above ground for 80% of its journey - lessening the load on the units.
  3. I don't see the resemblance... ???? https://postimg.org/image/m52twuqm3/
  4. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that having all these NTTs looking exactly alike is boring and takes some of the elegance and aesthetic appeal of the subway away?
  5. Instead of building the to terminate at Hanover Square, why not merge it with the Jamaica Line on Broad Street and use Montague to service 4th Av?
  6. Was the shuttle signed or previously? Swear I remember seeing that in the 90s.
  7. I got on an local this AM at 59th Street where the doors to the third car didn't open. No one was in the car. I didn't think R46s had that capability.
  8. And NYC and would still be claiming broke as NYCers pockets are fleeced.
  9. So are the plans for 14th St expected to be similar to Fulton St in Brooklyn, or something grander like Market Street in San Francisco, sans streetcars?
  10. So in other words, the M14 SBS will be just as slow as the M14A/D, just with off-board fare payment. And maybe signal prioritization. But blue lights and fancy vinyls though. Thanks Andy C!!! ==== Since M14A/D basically run the same route except at the east end, if dropping stops on 14th St isn't going to happen, alternation should be the method: ie the A stops at 5th Av, the D at 6th, A at 7th, D at 8th and so on. Might speed up the line.
  11. Siemens made some pretty good phones back in the Palm Pilot era.
  12. The notice I read at Atlantic Ave said Chambers Street, not WTC...
  13. So goes between Chambers St on the and 205 St. How's that work without delaying since the empty track is north of the station? http://www.nycsubway.org/perl/caption.pl?/img/trackmap/pm_lower_manhattan.png
  14. Think how much easier it'd be to do that study real-time if express riders didn't have two MetroCards - one for express and one for the train. That's where I think could boost revenue meaningfully - a combo unlimited MetroCard. Pay $155 and get one card that gives unlimited express bus and local bus/subway. I'm sure a goodly amount of people who could use the express bus w would spend the extra $34 for "just in case" access.
  15. But is it likely express on the Culver Line will be something that lasts 10+ years? Without that commitment from , I don't think the expense of rehabbing and making ADA-compliant add-ons is worth it. Especially since the whole express plan is facing sustained backlash currently.
  16. Weren't there trains with open gangways in the subway in the 40s and 50s?
  17. But does it have to remain vintage-esque - having custom tiles created to match the weight of the originals instead of the less expensive stuff available now? That's just extra expense at a time of rising fares and falling service levels. And it's not like LACMTA's, MARTA's or WMATA's grooved concrete walls are visually unappealing.
  18. What's so different about ESI vs previous station renovations? USB ports and LED screens? And is this faster than normal station renovation? And if so, why is that?
