  1. Just a question: Do you think it would be feasible to move the Broadway mergers to 57th? Trains going slow would not matter as unlike 34th-42nd, where the line is straight, by 57th it curves, so switching there has less of an impact speed-wise.
  2. I would have the run from Bowling Green to BBCT for the Manhattan section. I would also terminate the at Hunters Point to allow for easier termination.
  3. Why do people have all these overly complicated scenarios involving other lines? (ex. and .) Rather than get rid of the and do a weird thing, just suspend the .
  4. Just because there is no does not mean there is a lower frequency. The could get a service boost.
  5. It doesn't make sense to close the whole bridge, but I will have 3 scenarios. If north side is closed: and suspended. in two sections: 96th-Canal (tunnel) and Prospect Pk-CI. via bridge. local in Manhattan. via Rutgers. Shuttle between 36th and CI. If south side is closed: and suspended. is normal. is normal. rerouted to Chambers. and terminate at Canal (tunnel). via 6th Av and replaces in Brooklyn. If both sides close: , and suspended. local in Manhattan, terminates at Canal. Shuttle on Sea Beach. terminates at Canal. Shuttle between 36th and CI via 4th Av Lcl. 96th-57th. Shuttle between Prospect Pk and CI. truncated to 145th St. Shuttle between Atlantic and CI, 4th Av Lcl.
  6. Can't wait to see them on the as operators always go slow on the 46s. Hopefully CPW and JFK-67th/90th will hit higher speeds (50-55 mph)
  7. Can I have a R142 sign that has this scroll: to South Ferry 7 Av Exp Bronx Lcl
  8. The hipsters can't really complain. They either have old trains or no trains. While the may not seem the best, in matters of breakdowns it would make more sense as due to it having only 1 merger point (Bergen), disruptions will be at a minimum. There aren't even really that many other options left.
  9. I believe that there is only one more R62A at Corona, with probably a five-car set left over.
  10. There is no way ridership would not surge after reopening. The is busier than some other systems and is packed up the wazoo with gentrified neighborhoods.
  11. These are my assumptions on what these lines will have around the shutdown time: - R179/R46, 32s replaced and 160s sent to ENY/Jamaica / 179s and 160s (a few of the 160s will be 207 transfers) - R32s displaced from / - see /- 100% R160 due to QBL CBTC. Majority of displaced 207 sets along with current Jamaica ones are on these lines. / R68s with displaced R46s from Jamaica. 46s would make it easier to switch signs as the T/O has to only switch the end ones rather than all the signs.
  12. The Montague issue is that the tunnel was not rebuilt to fit the R32s, hence why them being on the Southern Division (minus the ) is a risk. I'm not sure, but aren't all other 60 ft B division SMEEs banned from Montague too?
  13. He is a new member, so he probably didn't check.
  14. I would rule out the and as the is too heavily used and because the breaking down on QBL will be hell.
  15. There aren't really any other options. Labor costs will increase, but the lack of damage costs from an R32 breaking down somewhere else should cover it.
  16. Some police thing (probably a suicide or an accident on the platform) caused service to be suspended between Broadway Junction and Crescent Street.
  17. Cough cough R42s At least they take care of their 32s
  18. My R32 assignments for 2019-2022 (or whenever the R211s enter service en mass): I would say 100 R32s in total would be left. Rock - 20 cars, 6 cars per train. 3 in service with an extra pair. - 80 cars, 8 cars per train. 7 in service with extra set.
  19. Even if buses are slow, I guarantee you that few people on SI would take a subway into Brooklyn and building anything there would take forever. Taking a subway would be just as painfully slow as the bus/ferry, and Staten Island will always be remote compared to the rest of NYC.
  20. There are several problems with this: The run OPTO 4 car R160s on weekends. R32s would increase labor costs. There is not much demand for central Queens-Midtown service on weekends, and riders can just take the to the , , , or . service on SAS is enough. No need for the , as riders have a cross platform transfer at 63rd, or they can transfer at Herald Sq. A R32 breaking down on 6th will put it in gridlock, and if it does not break down in a station, then in the tunnel the AC will die quickly and the passengers will start to faint. Knowing MTA's terrible evacuation procedures, I wouldn't be surprised if passengers would die. Also, with their declining HVAC units, the R32s will have to be put on outside lines. The is split if sent to 96th, and this is too risky for the cars. Best option they have is the Rock as any breakdowns there will not affect the line that much as they can easily be pushed by another train and relocated to Rockaway Pk Yard. Plus, Rockaway headways are so horrendous that nothing really would change. Overall, this whole R32 and thing makes no sense. The should be fine on SAS, and if a extension is necessary, just send the to 96th with R160s.
  21. My response: The whole to SI shtick is pointless. SI already has buses to St George for the quick ferry, and dragging riders into Brooklyn is a waste. People use the ferry for a reason. Red Hook is underserved, but it would be easier just to have a line branch off Montague and to 4th Av. Most people in Riverdale are wealthy and drive Lincolns to Park Av. Also, MNRR takes 30 mins to get to GCT, and the 1 to TS will take the same amount of time, if not longer. The on Dyre is enough. Dyre is a low-ridership branch and does not need another line. Bayside has LIRR, and they can take that to Woodside for the .
  22. Best options there are is the and Rock . QBL will complain about the R32s and an R32 breaking down on 6th will kill the IND in Manhattan.
