  1. August 14, 2019 | New Flyer Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada – August 14, 2019:(TSX: NFI) New Flyer Industries Canada ULC (“New Flyer”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that the BC Transit Corporation (“BC Transit”) has issued an order for 68 compressed natural gas (“CNG”) Xcelsior® forty-foot, heavy-duty transit buses. The order follows BC Transit’s 2018 purchase of CNG buses, which were converted from the New Flyer option backlog. Today’s announcement follows the July 29, 2019 launch of BC Transit’s low carbon program, which committed to full fleet electrification by 2040. Within this plan, BC Transit will transition all 1,200 of its buses from traditional propulsion to zero-emission vehicles. Earlier in July, the Canadian and British Columbia provincial government pledged $79 million to BC Transit for a new electric bus fleet. BC Transit has ordered 700 buses from NFI since 1992, including New Flyer transit buses, Alexander Dennis Limited double-deck buses, and ARBOC®low-floor cutaway buses. “BC Transit is a shining example of a progressive transit agency utilizing safe and readily available buses to lead the low carbon revolution,” said Chris Stoddart, President, New Flyer. “With the ability to reduce nitrogen oxides emissions by 90%, CNG has an immediate impact on improving air quality. Since 1994, New Flyer has delivered over 13,000 CNG buses across North America and is proud to build on this low-emission footprint with BC Transit. Together, and alongside our battery-electric buses in Toronto, Montreal, and Laval, we are driving sustainable transit in Canada.” New Flyer is the only manufacturer offering a complete range of clean propulsion systems in both conventional and articulated transit buses, and has been advancing zero-emission bus (“ZEB”) mobility in Canada since 1968 when it delivered its first ZEB to the Toronto Transit Commission. Since then, it has delivered over 540 ZEBs across Canada. New Flyer’s first CNG bus was delivered in 1994, followed by the introduction of its first ever battery-electric bus in 2012. NFI has over 50 years’ experience manufacturing zero-emission buses, and actively advocates for the electrification of public transit vehicles and standardization of charging infrastructure. In 2018, it signed onto the Shared Mobility Principles for Livable Cities, the CALSTART Global Commercial Drive to Zero pledge, the Transportation Electrification Accord; joined OppCharge in North America; and celebrated the Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium’s (“CUTRIC”) launch of the Pan-Canadian Electric Bus Demonstration and Integration Trial – the world’s first multi-manufacturer interoperability demonstration for fast-charge electric buses – of which New Flyer was a contributing member.
  2. August 6, 2019 | New Flyer St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA – August 6, 2019: (TSX: NFI) New Flyer of America Inc. (“New Flyer”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that The Transit Authority for the City of Omaha (“Metro”) has issued a new order for ten compressed natural gas (“CNG”) Xcelsior® sixty-foot, heavy-duty transit buses (20 equivalent units or “EUs”). The order follows a 2018 purchase of 19 New Flyer buses. Metro’s low-emission bus order bolsters its vision to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Omaha while supporting the launch of its new bus rapid transit (“BRT”) route known as the Omaha Rapid Bus Transit (“ORBT”). The ORBT experience unites smart technology and streamlined travel for faster, more frequent public transportation and features onboard GPS, WiFi, and mobile fare payment upgrades, to allow payment via Metro’s app. “As North America’s BRT leader and the only manufacturer offering a complete range of clean propulsion systems in both conventional and articulated transit buses, New Flyer is proud to have once again been selected by Omaha Metro – this time for its new progressive ORBT service,” said Chris Stoddart, President, New Flyer. “CNG powered buses reduce fleet NOx (nitrogen oxides) emissions by 90% over conventional diesel-powered vehicles. Since 1994, New Flyer has delivered nearly 13,000 CNG buses, and we know our buses will serve Omaha with the greatest accessibility and cleaner air for their community.” Metro delivers 100% ADA accessible fixed route and express/commuter bus public transit within the city limits of Omaha, Nebraska, providing over 4.5 million passenger trips per year. New Flyer, a leader in fully-accessible and high-capacity bus rapid transit solutions, has BRT buses operating in cities such as Cleveland, San Bernardino, Eugene, San Jose, and Seattle. New Flyer has been leading innovation in transit for over 85 years. In 2017, it opened the Vehicle Innovation Center, the first and only innovation lab of its kind dedicated to advancing bus and coach technology, and in 2018 became the first bus manufacturer in the world to sign on to the Shared Mobility Principles for Livable Cities.
  3. August 12, 2019 | New Flyer St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA – August 12, 2019: (TSX: NFI) New Flyer of America Inc. (“New Flyer”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced a new contract for 75 clean-diesel, forty-foot Xcelsior® heavy-duty transit buses for Pace Suburban Bus (“Pace”). The new fleet will replace older buses currently in operation, while growing Pace’s service footprint to support its Vision 2020 strategic plan which outlines a more efficient long-range network that is convenient and easy for passengers to understand. “Public transit plays a critical role in developing smart mobility solutions for growing cities, and as the backbone of Chicago’s suburbs, Pace is establishing the foundation for mobility to more than 8 million residents,” said Chris Stoddart, President, New Flyer. “As part of its network and service expansion, we are thrilled to support Pace with its first ever order for New Flyer’s safe, reliable, and fully accessible Xcelsior transit buses that will significantly improve the passenger experience.” “We are delighted to modernize our fleet with new Xcelsior buses from New Flyer,” said Rocky Donahue, Pace’s Executive Director. “These clean-diesel buses use ultra-low sulfur fuel with a four-step filtration process to remove harmful emissions from the exhaust, adding to our inventory of emission-reducing buses. These vehicles support our mission to be a good steward of the environment.” Pace is the suburban bus division and regional paratransit provider of the Regional Transportation Authority in the Chicago metropolitan area, covering six counties over 3,400 square miles and providing over 35 million passenger trips per year. Pace's family of public transportation services includes vanpool, rideshare matching, community-based transportation programs, and also recently expanded with Pulse, Pace’s new rapid transit network. Pace, an industry leader, was named a 2019 Clean Fuels Champion by Chicago Area Clean Cities (CACC), a nonprofit coalition dedicated to promoting clean-vehicles and clean-air solutions for transportation. Pace also operates nearly 40 over-the-road coaches from Motor Coach Industries, another NFI subsidiary. New Flyer has been leading innovation in transit for nearly 90 years. In 2017, it opened the Vehicle Innovation Center, the first and only innovation lab of its kind dedicated to advancing bus and coach technology, and in 2018 became the first bus manufacturer in the world to sign on to the Shared Mobility Principles for Livable Cities. It is the only provider of full suite bus solutions in North America, offering transit buses, motor coaches, and low-floor cutaway buses.
  4. The Massachusetts Transportation Authority (MBTA) has introduced new, zero-emission, battery-electric bus prototypes to join the Silver Line fleet. The introduction of the prototypes was celebrated at an event with Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, Massachusetts Department of Transportation Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack and MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak, who all gathered at the Southampton Bus Garage and Maintenance Facility. “The procurement and testing of new battery-electric bus technology is exactly the type of investment we aim to continue with the Transportation Bond Bill in order to help the MBTA plan for the future,” Baker said. “Our administration will continue to explore ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the commonwealth’s transportation system and we look forward to more improvements as the MBTA makes progress on delivering a more reliable bus system.” With support from a $10 million federal grant, the MBTA procured from New Flyer the production of 5 zero-emission, battery-electric, 60-foot, articulated buses. All 5 are currently in Boston with the first BEB prototype having arrived in April 2019 to begin testing and operator training. Three BEBs are entering service today on Silver Line Routes SL2, SL3, SL4, and SL5 with the next 2 anticipated to enter service on these routes by the end of the summer. Five charging stations are also being built within the Southampton Bus Garage and Maintenance Facility as part of the project where each BEB will be “refueled” overnight. “We’re excited to introduce these first battery-electric buses into service on the Silver Line to test how they operate in real-world conditions on Boston streets and in the Silver Line tunnel,” Poftak said. “This is an exciting first step in testing new technologies to electrify our bus fleet, save on fuel costs and reduce our maintenance needs. We look forward to seeing how these buses perform, gathering data on power consumption, and testing their range during extreme weather as we continue to seek ways to reduce greenhouse gases and improve service for our customers.” These BEBs are powered by both rear axle and center axle electric motors to enhance safe operation during the winter months. Most 60-foot Low Floor articulated buses in service in North America utilize only the rear axle to provide propulsion power by pushing the bus, which can experience traction issues during winter months when snow and ice are present. The performance of the BEBs’ axle placement will be one feature specifically tested and studied while in service. The MBTA will also be one of the first systems to test 100 percent electric heat for comfortable onboard temperatures during winter months. Previously, U.S.-built BEBs operated diesel-fired auxiliary heaters. With a commitment to vehicle efficiency, energy conservation and sustainability, the MBTA continues to explore available technologies and new vehicles that are capable of zero-emissions operation in the Silver Line Transitway Tunnel, which serves the World Trade Center, Courthouse and South Station stops. Innovative projects like the MBTA Silver Line Zero Emission Bus Project directly reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and help improve ridership by offering a quieter, emission-free transit experience. During a two-year period following the introduction of the BEBs into service, the MBTA will test and gather data on this emerging technology to measure BEB performance and operational effectiveness with a focus on power consumption of electric heaters, operator and passenger comfort, vehicle range impact during extreme conditions, charging requirements and projected operating costs. The MBTA will operate these buses on Silver Line routes to measure the capabilities of the technology for consideration in future zero-emission bus procurements. Over the past four years, the Baker-Polito Administration has invested funding for transit improvements that have included the purchase of hundreds of new buses as well as the purchase of hybrid vehicles: The MBTA has purchased 575 new buses with 381 already in service and 194 additional hybrid buses in production. More than one third of the bus fleet was recently replaced. Once the additional hybrid buses are in service, more than half of all MBTA buses will be less than five years old. These new buses replace the oldest and least fuel-efficient vehicles in the fleet and provide a more comfortable ride for passengers. The piloting of these 5 zero-emission, battery-electric buses is also the first step in testing new technologies to electrify the fleet. In April 2018, the MBTA introduced the Silver Line 3-Chelsea service, providing a direct link between Chelsea and the Seaport District. This project was the first new MBTA service since the Greenbush Commuter Rail Line came online in 2017 with the $56.7 million project jointly funded by MassDOT ($7.6 million) and the MBTA ($49.1 million). Following positive results from a Transit Signal Priority (TSP) pilot, the FMCB approved plans to expand the T’s TSP pilot to include broad corridors of the MBTA street-level system. TSP provides faster service to bus passengers by using signal technology to reduce dwell times for vehicles that operate in mixed traffic. As part of the Better Bus Project, the MBTA has partnered with cities and towns to implement dedicated bus lanes and queue jumps, resulting in faster trips for bus passengers. Bus lanes currently exist on Brighton Avenue in Allston, Washington Street in Roslindale, Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Mount Auburn Street in Cambridge and Watertown, and Broadway in Everett. The MBTA is currently investing more than ever before to upgrade its infrastructure under its current $8 billion, five-year Capital Investment Plan already in place, and the Baker-Polito Administration’s Transportation Bond Bill includes approximately $5.7 billion for the MBTA to continue funding improvements. The bond bill also includes a number of proposals to accelerate capital investments that include investments in the MBTA’s bus system, including continued funding for the dedicated bus lanes, signal prioritization, bus shelters and other infrastructure; for sustainable transit system modernization investments to modernize the bus fleet and support the Better Bus Project; and for maintaining the bus fleet and operational improvements. There are additional provisions to allow for the use of design-build procurement for smaller projects, which reduces the timeline for delivering capital improvements, and job-order contracting, which is a faster, more cost-effective way to address outstanding maintenance needs. The bill would also establish a process to leverage private-sector investment to fund and build transit improvements. The provisions in the bond bill that seek to expedite the T’s pace of investment come on the heels of the T’s plan to accelerate capital investments by exploring more aggressive closures overnight and on weekends, increasing the regimen of proactive inspections, negotiating with contractors to compress project schedules, augmenting the existing workforce with a flexible team that can provide necessary services such as flaggers, bus operators, and power, signal and track personnel to support capital investments.
  5. August 8, 2019 | New Flyer St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA – August 8, 2019: (TSX: NFI) New Flyer of America Inc. (“New Flyer”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced an order from the Connecticut Department of Transportation (“CTDOT”) for fifty, forty-foot heavy-duty Xcelsior®clean-diesel buses (50 equivalent units or “EUs”). The order converts 50 buses from the option backlog to firm orders, with 61 units remaining in the option backlog. The new buses, operating under the CTtransit name, replace older vehicles in the fleet with newer, more fuel-efficient buses, and are part of a five-year contract for 485 buses announced in 2016. In addition to replacing older buses, CTDOT will integrate these fifty buses into the current Hartford location bus fleet to service the City of Hartford and surrounding areas. Since 1989, NFI has delivered over 750 buses and coaches to CTDOT, including New Flyer transit buses and MCI motor coaches. Over 420 of them are still in service. “Having delivered over 670 transit buses to CTDOT over the past three decades, New Flyer continues to support communities across Connecticut with fully-accessible transit buses in a range of propulsions,” said Chris Stoddart, President, New Flyer. “Our Xcelsior model is safe, reliable, and proven, with over 10,000 models delivered and revenue service in excess of one billion miles in North America. As CTDOT strives to deliver the best possible passenger experience, we will continue innovating our mobility solutions to keep Connecticut moving.” CTDOT provides public transit in eight urban areas across Connecticut, delivering more than 27 million annual passenger trips and offering a range of transportation demand management services under the name CTrides including vanpooling, carpooling, and telecommuting. New Flyer has been leading innovation in transit buses for nearly 90 years. In 2017, it opened the Vehicle Innovation Center, the first and only innovation lab of its kind dedicated to advancing bus and coach technology, and in 2018 became the first bus manufacturer in the world to sign on to the Shared Mobility Principles for Livable Cities. It is the only provider of full-suite bus solutions in North America and has the broadest range of drive systems in North America.
  6. Routes 127,163- 167 and 168 are guaranteed routes with those cruisers(40 footers) Some 166 and 167 routes will have 45 footers, either a Detroit, Cat or Cummins engine. Other routes to and from the PABT have the 2000- 2003 cruisers as well, but with a mixture of other cruisers that are younger than those 2000-03 models.
  7. Here's my guess, either 02000 and 02100s, 2000 & 2100s or still have them in the high 9000 series, such as 9700 and 9800.
  8. Yes most of Bergenline Ave Jitneys are total junk tards. How many jitney bus companies are operating on that Avenue? At least most of "Express" dollar buses have better turtletop buses than the Bergenline jitneys. Off topic here regards to condition. Why in the hell does NJ Transit bus maintenance leave the back of their buses covered in black sut? Market St garage has a bunch of Nabis and some MCIs covered in that dirty crap. Some of their Suburbans are purposely covered disgracefully in that nasty sh*t. Enough for maintenance sarcastically to write, "Wash Me". I see CUSA "Community" buses here in Passaic County and Bergen County looking decent to sharp from outside because they take their washes seriously. Compared that to some of NJ Transit's Northern Bus garages is laughable
  9. Which bus routes you think may serve this mall? I can think of a couple of routes and perhaps a new route from New York City via Union City to Meadowlands Mall or select 190s trips to the mall. Routes: 703, 160, 163 and or 164 (maybe because already dealing with crushing loads on 40 foot buses), 772, 190s select trip buses, 76M( Meadowlands Mall from Newark Penn Station), possible Private carriers (DeCamp and Coach USA). Anybody else please your thoughts
  10. June 11, 2019 | New Flyer St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA – June 11, 2019: (TSX: NFI) New Flyer of America Inc. (“New Flyer”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s largest independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that the Maryland Department of Transportation has issued a new order of 15 forty-foot and five sixty-foot Xcelsior® clean diesel heavy-duty transit buses (25 equivalent units or “EU”) under the State of Washington, Department of Enterprise Services contract. The buses, which will be operated by the Maryland Department of Transportation Aviation Administration, will be used at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (“BWI Marshall Airport”) to replace older vehicles on continuous shuttle routes between terminals, airport parking facilities, and the BWI Rail Station. New amenities like USB charging ports, Wi-Fi, improved seating, luggage racks, wide doors, and large windows will be installed to enhance the customer experience. “New Flyer is proud to have been chosen once again by BWI Marshall Airport with additional Xcelsior transit buses that will help move millions of passengers safely around BWI airport each year,” said Chris Stoddart, President, New Flyer. “New Flyer has delivered over 150 buses to Airports across North America, with a focus on enhancing efficient, safe, and reliable mobility in the nation’s busiest hubs. Supporting the Maryland Department of Transportation builds on this focus and continues to enhance the passenger experience at BWI Marshall Airport.” The sixty-foot articulated buses will also provide an approximate 50 percent increase in passenger capacity compared to the smaller transit-style buses currently in service. Located near downtown Baltimore and approximately 30 miles from Washington, D.C., BWI Marshall Airport is the 22nd busiest airport in America, serving over 25 million passengers annually. The airport’s current parking and rail station fleet is comprised of 40 buses that went into service in 2005.
  11. From New Flyer's website BUSESMENU News Releases Central Florida awards contract to New Flyer for up to 75 articulated transit buses June 17, 2019 | New Flyer St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA – June 17, 2019: (TSX: NFI) New Flyer of America Inc. 12. At first, the CTA would pilot a small fleet of five buses along Chicago Avenue. By Steven Vance Dec 1, 2017 8 The Chicago Transit Authority intends to buy a small, fully electric bus fleet to begin testing route next year. The buses would charge their batteries at the terminals and at stops along the route. The CTA issued a request for proposals last month seeking a company to build and install the buses and chargers. The RFP indicates that the CTA would test the buses on Chicago Avenue, as it specifies that chargers should be installed at Navy Pier, the intersection of Chicago and Austin Avenues, and at the Chicago Avenue bus garage at Pulaski Road. The CTA wants to purchase a minimum of 20 and up to 45 electric, standard length buses. En-route charging has enabled electric buses and trams around the world to ply normal routes all day. In Cologne, Germany, for example, an articulated bus will lay over at a stop near the main train station for up to 10 minutes. While there it lifts up a charging mechanism and, faster than the latest smartphone charging technology, gets a sufficient jolt of electricity to travel to the next charger, or beyond. CTA has operated two electric buses, manufactured by New Flyer, in revenue service since 2014. Catherine Hosinski of the CTA said that electric buses are quieter, and have “significantly decreased emissions, which improves the quality of air and life for both our riders and general public.” Hosinski also said that “the operation of one all-electric bus is estimated to save up to $300,000 in fuel costs over the 12-year lifespan of each bus.”
  13. Hello everyone! This topic is from 2017. I just want to get on my grind to post as much bus and transit information as possible that hasn't been posted here. I want everyone to be inform of what's happening outside the tristate area, thanks. If you have been on some DDOT buses lately you probably know some of them are getting pretty long in the tooth. The Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) is working to fix that. It has added of 100 new buses over past three years and is putting another 20 on the road over the next few months to improve reliability and reduce the average age, according to DDOT Director Dan Dirks. The new buses have been arriving over the past several weeks and nine more will hit the streets in January. “This is another important step forward for DDOT and it strives to continually provide better service to its customers and younger, more reliable buses on the road,” Dirks says. “Our plan is to purchase at least 20 new buses each year for the next five years to get the age of our fleet in line with other major transit systems.” The new buses will bring the average age of vehicles in the DDOT fleet to about eight years, down from an average age of more than 12 years when Dirks took over in 2014. He says the ideal average age for buses in a transit system of Detroit’s size is about six years There are currently about 300 buses in the DDOTs fleet with 240 buses are on the road at peak times. The rest are getting routine maintenance. The new buses are New Flyer XD40 models and they come with destination signs on the rear, large rear windows and skylight roof hatches to allow more natural light on the interior, and an additional security camera on the exterior. Since adding its first 80 new buses in 2015, DDOT has implemented its largest service expansion in nearly two decades (1,500 additional weekly trips), including: Adding 9 new 24-hour routes (previously there were none). Adding 6 new express routes to connect neighborhoods across the city to major job centers in downtown and midtown. Adding a new Fresh Wagon route that provides direct roundtrip bus service to Eastern Market every Saturday with 6 convenient pickup locations across Detroit. Adding a new Mid-City Loop route to connect more low-income neighborhoods in the central part of the city with the jobs and amenities of the new center and midtown areas. Partnering with RTA and SMART to provide express “Reflex” service to and from the suburbs along Woodward and Gratiot Avenue. Security cameras have also been installed on the inside and outside of all buses and there is now a dedicated transit police force. Those two features have significantly improved safety across the transit system, DDOT says. Job opportunities DDOT has hired more than 100 bus drivers in 2017. The starting wage for bus drivers is currently $12.69 – $18.29 hourly, including benefits. To be eligible for a bus driver position with DDOT, applicants must have the following qualifications: Completion of high school or G.E.D. Must be able to obtain a Michigan Commercial Driver’s License with Group A or B designation and Passenger and Air Brake endorsements Preferably, two years of experience operating automotive vehicles, as demonstrated by a State Driving Record All persons interested in employment opportunities with DDOT are encouraged to apply for the Transportation Equipment Operator (Bus Driver) positions at https://www.detroitmi.gov/employment

  15. It's funny how NJ Transit said they appreciate the engineers who work on their off days from work. A pat on the back mind you and turn the other cheek. Like they give a damn just to be safe from the heat of its the riders
  16. NJ Transit should thinking about scheduling a tryout of MCI's D45 CRT LE this year or next for drivers, mechanics and riders both non-disable and disable to get a feel for the new technology and features. Surely they saw what AC Transit did along with MTA NYCT. Already, orders of this commuter coach has been delivered to some properties and soon other customers. Give it a shot NJT. The bus is already built
  17. Typical Bergen County residents in that area. Can't they just go to the golf course in Paramus? Either have a new modern bus garage with a additional seating on a 45 footer to get you to work or where you need to go everyday or have a golf course that's not open year round and not used by many people
  18. Maan the weekend service of Path's Journal Sq-Hob-33RD ST (NYC) sucks
  19. First off wrong Michael. Not all buses are out on the road during the peak period rolling on the streets. There should be spare buses in each garage besides Oradell just in case of a break down. The problem is you along with NJ Transit have an outdated bus garage in Oradell sitting close by a river which is a no no, can't get 45 footers up in there. Don't know if NJT gave up or not of finding property to buy to build a state of the art bus depot in Bergen County that can house 300 buses if not more. I say more because you will never know about Rockland Coaches with their operations. Politics plays a role in our transportation infrastructure. The public can be at fault too by electing those officials that are not pro transportation. Also not holding the those officials, NJ Transit board and the Port Authority accountable. Sucks we can't have a nice bus structure like those countries in Europe
  20. I've always thought that line should have either artics or MCI D4500s. They ought to know that line gets pack like sardines during peak periods, Saturdays and past the midnight hours. It was foolish for Transit to scrap the Sunday service. Don't know why they didn't send some of Wayne's older D4500s to Academy to help alleviate overcrowding on such a rediculous under 40 feet Nabi bus. That's one line to and from New York in Hudson Cty( Bayonne & Jersey City) not to be played with. Hope a solution comes around before the summer notices and changes
  21. That's very disappointing of Detroit Demand having their engine as an option for only the J4500. That just kills the hope of Detroit ever coming back into the transit market of their engines.
  22. Yes it belongs to the Meadowlands along with coach 19124. Basically getting familiar with the new update Cummins engine. Wayne, Howell and Ironbound has two buses each of the new engine. Correct me if I'm wrong if the rest of the 19100 order has the new engine
  23. MCI bus 19181 is on rhe 161 line this morning. That's the highest 19000 I've seen so far for Wayne Garage. 19178-79 and others are there at Wayne.
