  1. Two things: 1. Bx27 Effective November 7, (although they started a day earlier) The Bx27 last and first stops at West Farms Road has been relocated back to their original locations (where the current Bx4A ends and begins). The end stop at West Farms Rd/Hoe Av (before the light) and the first stop on Hoe Ave/Westchester Ave is discontinued. This change is reflected on BusTime. And for those that weren’t aware, 2. M125 Effective September 19, The M125 first stop has now been relocated from Bergen Av/Westchester Av (current Bx4 bus stop) to 3 Av/E 150th St (where the Bx15 LCL/LTD ends). New routing is as follows: Left on Westchester Ave, left on 3 Avenue, left on E 146th St, right on Willis Ave. This change is NOT reflected on BusTime, although there is an advisory letting passengers know of the first stop change. Buses will disappear from the screen until the bus gets close to Willis Ave/East 145th Street, as BusTime is still under the old routing. Old routing: Right on Westchester Ave, right on Brook Ave, right on East 145th St, left on Willis Ave.
  2. Meant to post this last Tuesday on November 1 so my apologies for the late post. 4431 from FP to Eastchester Scrap. Saw this bus being towed over the Whitestone Bridge while I was on the Q44-SBS. The bus was also missing the top panel on the rear.
  3. The switches were probably stuck in the position and they were having a hard time to switch it back. At the time Euclid Avenue-bound trains were running express between Utica Avenue and Broadway Junction. When that train cross back to the local track, that switch got stuck in that position, forcing Queens-bound trains to go local until they can figure out how to switch it back and get it to work properly so that switch doesn’t malfunction again.
  4. Actually, it was 17 years. Cortlandt St station reopened on September 8, 2018, three days before the 17th anniversary of 9/11.
  5. -Actually, GH was supposed to get 20 buses, not 25, so they receive 8 additional buses not 3. Kingsbridge was the only one in the order to initially receive 25 buses. -Manhattanville was initially supposed to get 226 buses, but with the additional buses in the Bronx (KB: 25+5=30, GH: 20+8=28), plus the swap with Quill and the additional bus added (76+1=77), the new total is now 136. You’re correct about TU, they still get their 20 buses.
  6. 1205 was involved in a fire back in January 2014, or prior to. It was reported OOS in 2014, then reported scrap a year later in 2015. At the time, 1205 was assigned to GH on the Bx12 SBS, back when it had the SBS wrap. 1201 was involved in a fire in 2019 when it was running on the Bx9, operating out of Kingsbridge Depot.
  7. Never mind, it’s posted on the website.
  8. https://new.mta.info/agency/new-york-city-transit/subway-bus-ridership-2021 Although it's been awhile since we've done this for the subway, I'm posting this here as well.
  9. https://new.mta.info/agency/new-york-city-transit/subway-bus-ridership-2021 Although it's not officially posted on the website, I was able to find it. NYCT and MTA Bus are posted separately this year, unlike last year when it was shown altogether.
  10. Minor Updates: CONEY ISLAND FERRY ROUTE Although it's not stated on the official website, the Coney Island route will be postponed indefinitely. https://www.thecity.nyc/2022/5/26/23143780/nyc-ferry-coney-island-suspended https://www.brownstoner.com/brooklyn-life/coney-island-creek-ferry-project-paused-indefinitely-edc-viability-study-superfund-dredging/ Per the NYC Ferry website: EFFECTIVE JULY 23, 2022 NOW IN SERVICE: OUR NEW ROCKAWAY ROCKET EXPRESS ROUTE We are thrilled to announce that our new Rockaway Rocket express route is now in service! 11. 3108 is currently at Yonkers Depot. 3109 is currently missing on the roster. I don’t know if it’s still at CHA as active or not running at this time.
  12. Wow!! Those were the last buses left that were transferred from MTA Bus Co.
  13. It was transferred to Eastchester Depot, but not to be scrapped. The Bx23 had to increase service during the rush hours to make up the loss of the Bx29 portion to Co-op City, so they required additional buses. 4247, along with 4081 and 4345 came from Manhattanville. 4506 and 4588 came from LGA. All local buses from EC are part of the “Bike & Ride” program, which require bike racks; hence the installation on 4247. The other 4 buses will get them eventually.
  14. Yes, I realize that after the fact I posted. At the time, I was thinking about the weekday PM rush for the M35 when it has runs out of Tuskegee Airmen. Again, my apologies for the confusion.
  15. No, nothing has changed. My apologies if I’m confusing you with my response. I was basically explaining your inquiry about 6195 and 6202 tracking on the M35. The M35 has access to the SBS fleet at Hale, so it’s common to see the SBS fleet on that route. My apologies to the moderators if we’re getting off topic.
  16. If Tuskegee Airmen has a scheduled run for the M35, yes. If not, then it’s operated by Hale all day.
  17. Yes, it is accurate. Those are Hale Depot buses, which the M35 operates out of. The M35 operates out of both Hale and Tuskegee Airmen depots and have access to both types of buses: standard 40’ ft or artic 60’ ft. It is not limited to just the local fleet and can use the SBS fleet at any time.
  18. It is for NYCT. The quotes for MTA Bus were for the 289 clean diesel buses above and for the 250 express buses above that. There probably wasn’t enough space for that quotation on the same line, so it went to the next line, making you believe it was for the line underneath the quotation (which was the 245 artics).
  19. The area that the Bx35 terminates on the map is Crotona Park East (Crotona or Crotona Village). That area was never Hunts Point. Hunts Point is east of the Bruckner Expressway. Also, Gladstone Square (West Farms Road-Southern Boulevard), the shopping area on Southern Blvd, and the subway stations at Simpson St and Hunts Point Av are not part of Hunts Point either. They’re in the Longwood section of the Bronx. For years, they associated or assumed those areas was part of Hunts Point but found out that it wasn’t and never corrected it on the timetables. Only the Bx11 had it correctly. People who also lived in the areas also assumed that they were in Hunts Point, as that name is more well known than Longwood. The same goes for Crotona Park East as some refer the area east of Southern Blvd north of East 172nd Street as part of West Farms. You are correct about the Bx18 terminal, that is Mount Eden, not Morrisania. Morrisania is south of both Claremont and Crotona Parks and east of Morris Avenue. I would have accepted Concourse before I would have accepted that area. The bus stop signs are worse: they have it as Tremont. Tremont is north of the Cross Bronx Expressway, not south. When it comes the neighborhoods of the Bronx, the term “It’s Complicated” is definitely an understatement due to somewhat overlapping and areas associated with one neighborhood when they part of another neighborhood altogether. Majority of the Bronx buses have the correct neighborhoods for their terminus but some of them can be somewhat questionable.
  20. They are now posting “Bus Stop Elimination” signs on the stops being eliminated on June 26.
  21. From the MTA website: Here is the new Official Bronx Bus Map starting June 26 https://new.mta.info/document/11266 Note: The Bx18, Bx25, and M125 are in a new color.
  22. Thank you so much for that info. I greatly appreciate it.
  23. It’s nice seeing Nova LFS Hybrids and New Flyer XDE40’s on the M66 and M72. Since when did they run those hybrids on those lines?
  24. MTA Issues RFP for Bronx Electric Depot Development 550,000 Square Foot Land Parcel to Be Redeveloped at Gun Hill Bus Depot in the Bronx Redeveloped Depot Including Electric Bus Charging Facility Will Be the First of Its Kind in the Bronx Press Release from MTA website: https://new.mta.info/press-release/mta-issues-rfp-bronx-electric-bus-depot-development
  25. Press Release from the MTA website as of March 23: Metro-North to Improve Hudson Line Service Through Dobbs Ferry Following Completion of Work to Rebuild Culvert and Tracks Washed Out by Tropical Storm Ida The Metropolitan Transportation Authority today announced that crews have completed permanent repairs of a 110-year-old culvert in Dobbs Ferry and the track structure on it that was washed out by heavy rain and high winds from Tropical Storm Ida. The completion of the emergency culvert replacement enables Metro-North to cut Hudson Line travel times through the area by up to five minutes on March 27 in conjunction with the new timetables that increase Metro-North service systemwide to 89% of pre-pandemic levels. “Metro-North forces worked closely with the C & D contractor, restoring the track infrastructure as the project progressed across all four tracks,” said Metro-North President Cathy Rinaldi. “Today, Metro-North trains can operate at full speed over the culvert allowing us to cut five minutes from Hudson Line travel times. Having all four tracks back in service also gives Metro-North more flexibility to navigate through any potential problems.” “Following the washout last fall, our Construction & Development team cleared trees and debris and addressed flooding conditions at multiple spots so we could restore service through Westchester County and the Bronx. They were able to quickly restore two tracks over the culvert in Dobbs Ferry, and then focus attention on a permanent fix,” said MTA Construction & Development President Jaime Torres-Springer. “Always aware of the impact the storm had to customers, the team worked tirelessly to bring the culvert back to operation before handing it off to Metro-North forces to complete the final steps.” MTA Construction & Development actively managed the team of contractors and consultants who replaced the 110-year-old culvert in its entirety, where Wickers Creek drains into the Hudson, which serves as an emergency overflow drain during times of extraordinarily high rainwater events. All the work was undertaken while trains continued to travel over the culvert under slow speed restrictions. Following the completion of this work in early March, Metro-North Railroad’s track crews installed rails, ties and ballast which was followed by surfacing the entire track area. They installed and tested the third rail and ensured all signal systems and Positive Train Control (PTC) were working flawlessly. The announcement brings an end to delays that began Sept. 1, 2021, when Tropical Storm Ida unleashed torrential downpours on the region. Metro-North implemented a new schedule on the Hudson Line on Sept. 20 to accommodate the culvert repair work and reduced line capacity. On March 27, in conjunction with the schedule increases, Metro-North will remove the additional schedule time added in September to trains traversing the area. Some of the overall highlights of the new timetables follow. Hudson Line Weekday service levels increase from 142 trains to 156 trains. The Lower Hudson zone between GCT and Croton-Harmon increases from 82 trains to 92 trains. AM Peak trains increase from 19 trains to 21 trains. PM Peak trains increase from 15 trains to 18 trains. The Upper Hudson zone between Cortlandt and Poughkeepsie increases from 60 trains to 64 trains. AM Peak trains increase from 11 trains to 13 trains. PM Peak trains increase from 10 trains to 12 trains. Weekend service Service at the popular Breakneck Ridge station will resume this Spring when safety and security enhancements are completed. Hudson Line riders will experience faster trains.
