  1. As of March 21, 2022, the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) Green Line Extension (GLX) opens with first Phase to Union Square Station in Somerville as well as the relocated Lechmere Station in Cambridge. The second phase to Medford/Tufts Station in Medford will open later this year. 2. Not too far. The M31 Eastbound terminal is on 92nd St and York Avenue. If they’re deadheading, they can turn right on York av, right on 91st St, right on 1st Avenue, left on 125th Street, right on 12 Avenue and you’re right near the depot. From the westbound terminal (54th St & 10th Avenue), they could use the West Side Hwy (if permitted) to 125th Street and get to the depot. As for the relief point, they could put it at the Eastbound terminal or they can put it at 57th St and Broadway, where drivers can take the train to 137th St- City College and walk to MV. But like I said before, they could send it to Quill or the M31 will just stay put at TU. I only suggested MV because of the Nova Hybrids and that MV, KB and GH are the only other depots that are operating them. IMO, the M31 will stay put at TU and the M125 will be at a Bronx depot. Whether it’s at KB or WF, I don’t care. What will matter will be how the riders will react to the M125 when it starts to run.
  3. It’s more of the process of elimination than knowing that anything I have mentioned in my previous post will actually happen. - The M125 is going to be an artic route replacing the Bx15 and M100 on 125th St. Previous posts have stated that the preliminary plans have it slated for WF and send the Bx35 to KB or keep it at KB. -There is also previous posts assuming that the M125 will be in one of the Manhattan depots. -If the M125 is supposed to be an artic route, then that automatically eliminates MV from the running, since they can’t run artics. -Quill’s and Hale’s buses are SBS artics. After all this time, I don’t see either depot taking on a non SBS artic route. They both could, but it would look like CS in Queens (Q44 SBS and Q12). Besides, Quill has enough on its plate and as long as Hale has that capping limit on how many buses can be there, I don’t see the M125 based out of those two depots anytime soon. -That leaves TU, which is the only non SBS artic depot in Manhattan. It could go there, but does TU have the space to handle it. We don’t know how many buses are required for the M125. If it can, then great. However, if it can’t, then we all know which route could leave if they wanted to send the M125 to TU: the M31. The M31 could go back to Quill, but with the Nova Hybrids in play, I could see them sending it to MV for fleet uniformity purposes. -I don’t see any of that happening anytime soon, and with the other boroughs still in the process of going into the Bus Redesigns, it’s best to keep the M125 in the Bronx Division and see how this plays out before they send it anywhere else. -I’m also aware that this MTA we’re dealing with here and you’ll never know what they will do, which is why I’m waiting to see where the M125 finally land and how all of this will play out.
  4. Quill could get the M31 too, but the Nova hybrids would have to go somewhere. It could go to Quill, but I don’t think they would want to deal with the Nova Hybrids. They could, but for right now I just see the MTA keeping things simple and in uniformity, meaning sending to a depot that already have the same type of fleet, which is MV.
  5. The M125 will most likely go to KB or WF. Quill will not get it because all of their artic routes are SBS. Hale (OF) will not get it because the depot has a limit to how many buses can be stored at the depot. If it was lifted, OF would take the M60 SBS before they take the M125, seeing that they only run SBS artics and the M125 is a local route. (Don’t even mention the M35, it’s not even worth it.) MV will not get it because they don’t accept artic buses. You’re assuming that the M125 will be a standard route when it will be an artic route; remember, this route is replacing the Bx15 and M100 routes on 125th Street. It would be logical to send the M125 to TU (100 St), but for that to happen TU would have to send the M31 to MV seeing that TU is replacing their Orion Hybrids with Nova Hybrids and MV is the only other Manhattan Division depot that is taking Nova Hybrids. I don’t see that move happening anytime soon. That, and the M125 will be based out of the Bronx Division so it’s either KB or WF.
  6. Per the NYC Ferry website: EFFECTIVE TUESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2021 The Soundview Ferry route has been extended from Soundview (Clasons Point) to Ferry Point Park (Throgs Neck). https://www.ferry.nyc/blog/soundview-route-expansion/ STARTING MONDAY, JANUARY 24TH, YEAR-ROUND NYC FERRY SERVICE TO-AND-FROM GOVERNORS ISLAND WILL BEGIN ON THE SOUTH BROOKLYN ROUTE! Until the Coney Island route launches, Governors Island will be a stop in between Sunset Park/Brooklyn Army Terminal and Red Hook/Atlantic Basin. On summer weekends, NYC Ferry will continue to serve Governors Island as a dedicated shuttle from Pier 11. Additionally, Governors Island will continue to run summer weekend shuttles from Brooklyn Bridge Park-Pier 6 and Red Hook. When NYC Ferry’s Coney Island route launches in late 2022, the South Brooklyn route will terminate at Governors Island. Bay Ridge will become part of the new Coney Island Route to provide direct faster access to Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan and Sunset Park will continue to have express service to Pier 11 on the Rockaway route. https://www.ferry.nyc/blog/new-south-brooklyn-schedule/ 2022 EXPANSION This Link will provide information on how the ferry routes will operate going forward when the Coney Island route launches in late 2022. https://www.ferry.nyc/NYCFerry-2022-Service-Route-Expansion/
  7. The Coney Island Ferry has been delayed until late 2022.
  8. Per the MTA website on the Queens Bus Network Redesign: What’s happening now and in the near future We are excited to restart the Queens Bus Network Redesign with a “New Draft Plan,” driven by customer feedback, to be released in Q1 2022. This will be a new plan—not the Final Plan, nor the Draft Plan that was proposed in late 2019/early 2020. Throughout our extensive outreach efforts during that time, we collected and heard highly constructive feedback from the public. Comments centered around the loss of certain key subway connections, unclear schedule proposals, and wide bus stop spacing. The most frequently mentioned routes included the Q49, Q53-SBS, Q32, Q33, and Q66; however, we received both positive and negative reactions on route proposals all throughout the borough. This feedback became the primary input for the development of the New Draft Plan. In this plan, we are working to address as many customer concerns as possible, while still balancing tradeoffs and applying network redesign strategies to improve the bus network. Additionally, we are carrying over some of the well-received elements of the original Draft Plan, while focusing more on strategies that would improve the existing network: using new route types, straightening routes, filling gaps in the bus network, creating new connections, strengthening interborough service, reallocating frequencies, prioritizing buses, and right-sizing the distance between bus stops. Yes, this is still an ambitious plan aimed at improving bus travel for Queens riders, but this version of the network will look a bit more familiar to you.
  9. I can't confirm anything about #1785 and #1797, but the retirement of the 2008-2009 Orion 7.501 NG CNGs was already mentioned back on December 23. It was mentioned on the "NICE to get 60 Gillig buses to replace Orions" thread.
  10. It was restored due to the Bx6 SBS. The route was not coming to Story Avenue until 2023 due to OMNY. It didn’t make sense to install SBS machines in June 2022 only to be removed in early 2023, as that was a waste of resources. Once the community board and residents found out, they requested all or some of the bus stops back until the Bx6 SBS comes. They only restored the Noble Avenue stop in both directions and the Boynton Avenue stop heading eastbound. (Those stops were heavily used.) As of 12/1, the bus lanes were installed and painted and went into service on Monday, 12/6.
  11. 5895. West Farms to Gun Hill. Bus is currently on the Bx4A.
  12. It was taken out of service due to entensive vandalism. Because of that, they took the train out of service and cancelled the remaining trips. The 2:00 run from 2nd Avenue to 145th St was the last run for today. Train is heading back to Coney Island Yard.
  13. Those 4700’s at UP were in the Bronx for 7 years, so they been through a lot. Between UP, GA and CS, they’re doing the best they can for the 4700’s.
  14. It was never a transfer. The same situation that happened at Quill also happens at WF. Someone messed with the sticker. They’ll replace it eventually.
  15. If those XE60’s come in, they’ll go to Quill before they go to the Bronx. Most likely Quill will give the Bronx their LFSA’s to replace the 1200’s. For the artics, it would seem that the 1200’s and 5770-5986 would go first. The 4700’s came in 2013, so they have a while before they go.
  16. Actually the 4700’s came in 2013, so they will be 12 years in 2025. The LFSA’s (5770-5986, 5252-5298, 5300-5363) came before them. They’ll be 12 years by 2024.
  17. This is a good one. W service is suspended in both directions. We're running as much service as we can with the train crews we have available. Alternatives Between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and 34 St-Herald Sq, take N trains. Between Lexington Av/59 St and Whitehall St-South Ferry, take R trains. Posted: Mon, Nov 08 2021 07:11
  18. And what about the riders in Edgewater Park and Locust Point. How would that route affect them?
  19. That we can both agree on. But, I’m curious; help me understand why would you want to have that “proposed” Bx24 routing that was in the Draft plan.
  20. If that was the case, they would have left things alone when they rerouted the Bx8 through Country Club back in 2010. The fact that you don’t remember that scenario clearly states that you don’t know that area like you think you do.
  21. That’s because they went through that back in June 2010 with those “doomsday” cuts. They hated it for multiple reasons and by January 2011 it was reverted back with the present day Bx24. “Been there, done that, not gonna happen again.” It wasn’t just the Country Club residents that didn’t approve, the Edgewater Park and Locust Point residents didn’t want that scenario either.
  22. No. The majority wants crosstown service (combination of the Bx26, Bx28/38 and Bx30) depending on where they’re going, not Pelham Bay Park. If that was the case, then the Bx23, Bx29, Q50 would have been more utilized more than they have been in Co-op City.
  23. The same scenario was proposed in the Draft plan, but the community strongly opposed that plan so this is the alternative.
  24. As per the MTA: Upcoming Meeting Bronx Bus Network Redesign Restart Public Meeting Virtual Public Meeting Event Information Tuesday, November 9, 2021 Meeting Begins: 6 p.m. Registration to speak will open on October 28, 2021 and close on November 9, 2021, at 3 p.m. This meeting will be held on Zoom and broadcast on the MTA’s YouTube Channel: Zoom: https://mta.zoom.us/j/84329828595?pwd=WEhUSE9YaGE3ODNISk9sdkxRSnJwZz09 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/MTAinfo This public meeting will provide the public with an additional opportunity to comment on the proposed Final Plan. Of note, following the public input process and public hearing, two proposals from the proposed Final Plan have been withdrawn, with the Bx28 and Bx34 no longer proposed for route alignment changes. Each route will remain on the route path they travel today. As to the reason why the stops that were eliminated on Story Avenue was restored: Proposed changes to the Bx6 SBS route alignment, Bx6 Local schedule, and Bx5 schedule will be implemented in 2023 while the rest of the Bronx Redesign Local Plan will be implemented in Summer 2022. This is to avoid the cost of construction associated with installing on-street fare machines that would be needed for approximately one year. Therefore, bus customers should plan to see the proposed schedule changes outlined below implemented in 2023 when MetroCards are retired and OMNY is fully deployed.
