  1. Does anyone happen to have a pdf of the Queens Bus Map when the Q98V Covid Shuttle from Jamaica to Edgemere was running?
  2. New schedules are out. No start date from what I have seen however.
  3. Where did you hear this? I was looking forward to my commute getting shorter next month
  4. Where does it say that the N71 will only run between Farmingdale State and Amityville on weekends? The Nice website literally never says anything about that.
  5. If that’s the case, I am disappointed. Other than the proposed 73rd Av route, the combined Q10/64 was the only other change near me that I was looking forward to, since I preferred what the Q25 and Q65 had from the original draft.
  6. With a well timed S51 to/from Ronkonkoma, I could probably save 50 minutes in the morning and about an hour in the afternoon.
  7. I get off the train at 6:40, so I could take the S63, but the couple of times I have taken it, it drops me off later than the schedule says, and the 7A has been very consistent for me, at worst being a minute or two late.
  8. I could do this and have done it a couple of times, but 1) I can’t always leave work right away and usually would get to the bus stop after that 7A passes by, 2) at least at Ronkonkoma, the trains are roughly every 30 min, so if one is canceled, its better than an hour wait. There was one day the 5:31 PM train at Patchogue was canceled and if I went that way I would have gotten off the 7A at around 5:00 and would have had to wait for the 6:31 train. 3) Plus, a few times the 7A has been early and I have just barely made the 5:28 PM train, saving me close to 30 min, so overall I’d rather take my chances at Ronkonkoma.
  9. I am going to guess that there will be no “S” since if I remember correctly, they refer to the lines as Route #, not route S# in the final draft presentation. And as someone who just recently started a daily commute from Fresh Meadows to Holtsville (torture, I know), I cannot wait to see the schedules. The fact that I get out of work at 4:30 and the earliest train from Ronkonkoma to Jamaica that I can catch is the 5:55 because of the 7A only running every 70 minutes in the afternoon is infuriating. 30 minute service on route 51 can’t come soon enough.
  10. Question: I’ll be starting to commute on the LIRR from Jamaica to Ronkonkoma next month and am confused about the fare. The MTA website is not consistent with how much a monthly pass from zone 3 to zone 10 is. When you plan a trip from Jamaica to Ronkonkoma, the monthly shows up as $301, the same as the fare chart pdf. But if you plan using Find your Best Fare, it says a monthly is $334. Which is it? Also, is it possible to get a monthly Uniticket for MTA bus from Jamaica LIRR? I would be taking the Q65 to the train station and a Uniticket would save me a decent amount each month.
  11. It is direct as in you no longer need to take the subway from Penn Station to get to Grand Central, not direct as in no stops. There are express trains to Grand Central from Jamaica, but there are also local ones that also stop at Woodside, Forest Hills, and Kew Gardens.
  12. You always say this, as if that makes it true. Why should the MTA care about total travel time? They aren’t involved in what you do outside this bus, whether you go to one store or two, or whether you feel the trip was worth the journey. They provide a public service, not a shuttle to your doorstep.
  13. I think he is referring to the buses where there is a large metal plate over the seat itself, so no one can sit there. I know on the M31 electric buses those seats are blocked off, but I don’t know if that is just because they are the electric buses or not.
  14. What I don’t understand is why they are not consistent with getting rid of locals and limited routes with the same number. There are no Queens routes that have both a local and limited pattern with one number in the recent redesign. While that is because there are no routes that are exactly the same, I think it is weird that routes like the B6 and B41 will have both a local route and a limited/crosstown designation. They should have followed Staten Island’s route system and given limited routes throughout the city a separate number.
  15. NICE is adding a new pilot route, the n75 between Hempstead and Uniondale via Peninsula Blvd/Hempstead HS, weekday rush hours only.
  16. Well, its the same in the morning too. An eastbound train arrives at Hicksville at 6:48 AM and then nothing until 8:25 AM. The Main Line does not have much room for reverse peak service during the height of rush hours due to there only being two tracks, at least until the third track and additional service to Grand Central starts likely at the end of the year.
  17. I have a question. In the draft plan, both the old and new ones, there is a bus that travels the length of 73rd Ave (the QT87 or the Q73). So clearly, they believe that 73rd should have bus service the entire length. But I noticed there are now speed bumps on 73rd west of Utopia Pkwy. Would they remove them if they routed a bus down the street, or would they likely reroute the bus? There is no reason to have the bumps either, since there is already a speed camera on the same block and a traffic light that cars would have to slow down for. This is just one example I have noticed where the city is making driving worse for people, similar to the traffic lights placed at 188th St and 64th Aves traffic circle. If an QM5 was serving Fresh Meadows, the route went from just looping around the traffic circle and making the stop, to having to deal with FOUR traffic lights.
  18. I think they were referring to how the BxM4C used to be. It had daily service until 2010.
  19. https://www.westchestermobility.org/downloads Westchester’s Bus Redesign Plan is out
  20. Today was the first time in a while I have seen a bus driver stand up to an unruly passenger. As a young kid, I definitely remember bus drivers on Queens Surface refusing to move if people didn’t pay, but its not like that anymore. And yet today at about 1:45, I saw a Q46 driver kick off every one on the bus heading towards the subway after pulling into 164 St over someone refusing to wear a mask. And then after getting some food, I walked back at about 2:15 just to see about 30 people waiting next to a parked bus with some talking with the driver about how sad it is that people ruin things for everyone. Glad I didn’t need that bus today.
  21. That was the N22L, it skipped both Mineola and Roosevelt Field
  22. Yes, back when it was the N22/22A/22L/22X. The N22X stopped at 165 St Term, 169 St , 179 St , New Hyde Park Rd, Mineola Bus Term, Roosevelt Field Bus Term, Post Av in Westbury, and Hicksville.
  23. The routing is similar to the old N22X routing from a few years ago, except the old routing used to follow the N22 east of Roosevelt Field. And this time, for a change, the westbound trips will not use Jericho Tpke from Herricks Rd to Marcus At, but instead take Broadway and County Courthouse Rd instead.
  24. They are definitely still blocking off seats. Last Wednesday the 12:00 PM QM4 to Manhattan had three rows blocked off. Looked like they had tied a long roll of toilet paper around the armrests to prevent people from sitting.
  25. The N22 is interesting. Since it says faster routing for the N22X, I feel that they might be reverting it to where it cut down Marcus Ave and Herricks Rd, since then it only ran reverse peak direction. That way they could keep the N22 split at Mineola with no weekday through trips.
