I remember being on that 2 train back then, The R211T is being ran as a test but just not a 30 day type just running as a test train in general I believe.
I heard same reports that the T model is not doing the 30 day test just being dedicated to the C line at this point and just see how it runs there, anyone with more knowledge can update this
Yes i agree with you that it could work but brings up the cost. On top each station here having different configs as it is…while fleet are being changed anyways that makes more sense to adapt or try to match with vs the other way around…….as long as the MTA doesn’t want make the doors wider to the point of having no windows lol.
The MTA president official word about the R211T only running on a “local line“ of the ‘C” line is just by choice, saying that it’s a new model that has never ran on this system before and they feel it’s safer “for now “ to only run it on a local line such as the “C” line. https://www.youtube.com/live/xGnokEK-ypM?si=YMb6SsonH-akdza_
“ MTA officials declined to provide further information. But after publication, Gothamist obtained a second memo, also dated Jan. 19, that provided an explanation: The design of the gangway trains “makes it impossible” for train operators to safely perform a required inspection following the activation of the emergency brakes.”
