  1. Yards are always mixing sets. new and old
  2. 4079-4075+4109-4105 has been reported re-entered service
  3. R211s #’s 4165-69 at sbk https://www.facebook.com/nycsubwaylife
  4. R160’s has set the bar so anything after that will look somewhat like it..but don’t expect the 268’s to look too much different from 211/179’s whatever year this happens.
  5. Look at the bright side, the C is getting some love and help it needs! Even if these sets can only ever stay on this line it’s a huge upgrade.
  6. Can’t have platform doors unless all fleet are the same size.
  7. We wonder how many can that hold??
  8. Unfortunately, the area that are not stainless steel it seems the graffiti just stays there like around the windows and the top of the cars seems to never get cleaned off. You can notice every car in the system that has been hit with areas that are left.
  9. Another derailment ….F train this time in Brooklyn.
  10. Probably but I guess it’s not a hurry as option 1 has not even started yet.
  11. Here’s the no update, update. https://gothamist.com/news/new-nyc-subway-cars-still-need-repairs ”Initially, an MTA spokesperson only confirmed there was an issue with some of the R211s, but the spokesperson couldn’t say how many trains had been pulled out of service because of the “dynamic” situation. Only after we published our initial story did New York City Transit President Richard Davey clarify that nearly all of the “cutting edge,” “top of the line” trains were already back at the train yard for repairs. MTA officials confirmed that two out of seven R211s are still out of service.”
  12. The MTA is at the mercy of Kawasaki about the R211 issue, This is a very bad look on them for switching the type of gearbox from the pilots and the productions. I guess Kawasaki thought it would be ok and no one would notice if it did not fail.
  13. No new ones that we are aware of, just the ones that has taken most of them out of service while the ones that are running are testing the fix at the same time.
  14. The MTA president is still saying as of this week that there’s too much service/ too much room on the trains and buses so no changes are needed. Honestly most people who drive into the city will still keep driving in.
  15. The whole schedule went out the window after the gearbox and flats issues came. The MTA is now at the mercy of Kawasaki to get things back on track so all of your questions about in service dates are unknown. Even new deliveries have stopped.
  16. Maybe not until next year as things got delayed after the gearbox mater. I believe only 3 sets are running at this time.
  17. Yeah they have not stopped cranking them out, just holding all of them there until the gear box matter is under control, maybe when they get the green light deliveries could come weekly for a while.
  18. But this doesn’t mean they are not being built in the plant so when the fix is done there should be lots of sets waiting to come faster than before.
  19. Yep! There was a set ready to come last week but that’s all on hold now.
  20. Because the R doesn’t run overnight but overnight service is needed without the 7 or N so the E will cover it.
  21. “At this week’s MTA board meeting, MTA Chair Janno Lieber called for more competition in the railcar market. He noted a federal mandate requires the MTA to buy U.S.-made train cars. Only two U.S.-based companies manufacture the train cars: Kawasaki, which has plants in Nebraska and Yonkers, and Alstom, which acquired Bombardier in 2021. “We really have to be taking action to grow the competitive market for rail cars and buses,” Lieber said.” https://gothamist.com/news/mtas-gleaming-new-subway-cars-taken-out-of-service-for-faulty-gearboxes-flat-wheels?fbclid=IwAR0Z6xFpwNW5DN-YNAT_hELxYYHoYa3bnFP6Nm5AWkamMGd3OfE5i5RuPzk_aem_AaEzpOv2XcJ11cblJyJgwwah8tELjJGboBO8Q3ddgClgpFXFC03U8MbRasrcP6Qv2Kg
