  1. Same here. Loud as hell too. I thought it was a neighbor making a lot of noise in the backyard till I heard it from the front of the house. Checked out this channel called 'hub', which replaced Discovery Kids [never watched], and I love it for bringing back the original [unaltered] 84 transformers cartoon along with MiB the series and Batman Beyond. It's been years since I last saw the later 2, but I'm psyched to see transformers on TV than on just Youtube.
  2. Amen to that. For me, I've fanned the entire system already [probably will return to some areas to get better shots]. If any time there is a trip, it's mostly just to hang out with some people [as well as some pointers taking pictures]. = To add on the point about the trains, it was a total treat in 2004 when they had the centennial celebration of the system with the R9, BU, TOMCs running. That was a great year to be a transit fan. I do miss the redbirds. I only wished they were on the mainlines longer or digital cameras were much cheaper in 2000-1.
  3. This happened one time a few years ago on a train like 215th or something. Train overshot the platform by a train door [should also mention that it was raining, so the rails might've been slippery]. If they guy standing by the door was leaning on it, that would've been the end for him or a really bad fall. Pretty scary sight since I was standing towards the front of the train on the opposite side of the platform.
  4. Oic. Hem, I hope if they bumped anything off it is an 8800 or 9000 bus. Still pretty neat to see a 9400 around.
  5. I've had almost any type of toy train: Brio [wooden trains], plastic [tyco, lego], ho and O gauge [lionel] trains. So I've grown up with them all my life. Took a subway ride like at 6 yrs old with my grandpa all the way to Utica on the . I guess I really got into transit more when I took the subway to hs and of course went online more and chatted with other transit fans. Although I do like transit, my interest has gone down and it's just a mild interest in it. I still try to keep up with the more significant stuff, but as for like what an R160A or B is from the distance - don't care, it's the same thing, boring.
  6. Spotted 9491 [yes a 9400] on the B41 on Wed. It had the FB sticker on it and was in service. I am assuming it came from Ulmer? I dunno if this means FB had to send out a 9600 or 5000 in return. Wished I got a pic of it, it left too fast for me to get a shot of it.
  7. Main negative: everyone thinks ENY, Brownsville [sorry for sterotyping, but in general it's kinda true] and such areas = crime and thinks of only that for Brooklyn instead of Park Slope, Downtown Brooklyn, CI, etc.
  8. Ex-GL O5? Oh well, at this point those buses are on their last legs anyway. Doesn't matter where they go.
  9. Top Gear = ftw. Great show. I just wished Discovery still aired some episodes from them.
  10. I disagree here. If it was in front of my house, I'd be pissed. Plus some homes have security cameras now, so to be safe just bring a bag with you. If you don't like to scoop the poop, bring some newspaper page and hold it under the dog and then 'fold it up' and dump it in a public garbage can nearby.
  11. And again he thinks if one owner is bad then all dogs are bad... He'll never learn that it's the owners that have to be responsible for the dogs. But it's all lost on him.
  12. I confirm this. Yesterday I saw 5136 on the Bergen Beach route and 5135 today on the B41 [probably Kings Plaza]. So both are back with Flatbush depot stickers. Well you say your uncle works at Ulmer, can you ask him if he knows what they were doing there? -Thanks. Also if I had to guess, maybe UP wanted to take a look at the cameras or 'test'* them out in service on one of their routes? *as in to see how the riders react if they see visible cameras - even if they don't really work?
  13. Heh, well it is kinda nice to see your [in general] work in the public domain. I'm pretty happy anytime someone posts a pic of mine from NYC subway.org. Chalk it up to vanity, but I like the attention.
  14. My main addiction are my ipod online games that I need the wifi for. If I can't get a signal, it's like a withdrawal for me. Everything else internet wise [ever since my Florida trip], I can wait and take my time with. Forums like these, I visit more often than my FB account.
  15. This is kinda why I put my at the top. Sure, it might still be cropped out, but at least it isn't as easy as someone cropping the bottom of the pic. Also I think now on some of my pics, I'm going to add a secondary copyright that blends into the background. That way even if the original at the top is cut out, I'll still have a backup.
  16. Other than e-mails i get about alerts, I hardly use FB either. I don't even post anything there anyway.
  17. I understand if it was just the last 4-5 digits, but does it have to be the whole number? And the fact they make you tell it to them aloud, I'm worried about other people around me that might record the number for 'other use'. SMH. It also makes the whole 'school id #' pointless. I mean that's what it's really for, not the SS number.
  18. Yes, right click for the properties and you can see it says 'Lincoln tunnel 1955'.
  19. You have a very good point. This whole reliance on the social security number is totally bullshit. They should use their own number system. It's no wonder stuff like Life Lock is becoming so important.
  20. At first I wasn't very happy about the new orange and blue plates, but after a while I guess I've become indifferent about them. I still wished they kept the white and blue ones though. No surprise it is all over on the 'f' series. These plates are the 'fail'.
  21. I know this is a random thoughts thread, but if all a person does is post random vids from youtube [constantly, and not just once in a while], then what's the point? It's a waste of bandwidth.
