Was that announcement by the same voice that does the "L&G, the next Brooklyn bound train is 1 station away"? For some reason, when that voice makes service change announcements, it is for a strange reason. Side note: I find those announcements annoying,
I hate it when an N/B A arrives at W4 before I close down my C. Then it is hard for me to close down because everyone jumps on that A like it's giving away 50 billion dollars.
You left the C at the right time lol
I'll rather hear "green line" or "yellow line" over of the "456" or "NQR". They might be from another city and their routes go by color.
The train at Whitehall middle every mornings is a "bridge" train so customers can go to the southbound platform to exit since the escalator on the north end of the northbound platform is being replaced.
Here is another "C is better than the A story": I'm on a northbound C and someone wants to know where the A is (it was in front of us). Turns out she wanted to go to 168. She gets on my C, but gets off at 14 Street to wait for the A. The next A did not show up until we got to 168. Also, at 42 Street the announcement that a train was arriving on the uptown express track played, so several people got off to catch the A train. It turned out that the A was a NIS train! Same thing happened at 59 too!
Its best to stay on the N or R to 42 Street where you can take the Q.
2 Avenue and 34 Street (6 Avenue platforms) also have the "guess the platform" setup during service changes.
To get from Bergen Street to Myrtle- Willoughby Avenues on a day without any G.Os or reroutes, you take the G train SIX stops.
To get from Bergen Street to Myrtle- Willoughby Avenues with this G.O on the F (without riding to Manhattan or taking the F to Coney Island), you have to take FIVE different trains.
