  1. Probably because of congestion at Bedford Park. There are a few Ds that drop out there too.
  2. I thought they played that announcement at 174 Street as well.
  3. Slow speed order somewhere between 3/138 and Hunts Point.
  4. I saw it going SB at Canal around 11:40 PM on Monday.
  5. Yeah, that's what it is. Yours will probably be done on either the Avenue X lead or "the hill" at Coney Island Yard. A superintendent will be there.
  6. That conductor was probably new and was looking at a strip map. He paid no mind that the train goes local at a certain time.
  7. if you forget to take off the safety chains or release the handbrake, thats an automatic fail.
  8. You're welcome and good luck! I hope to see you out there!
  9. Your weeks are sorted by equipment in each yard. For R46s, you will mostly be in Jamaica and 207. For 68s, Concourse and Coney Island.
  10. You won't be broken into groups yet since you have to get your tools first.
  11. 1 and 2. Either one 4. You will get measured for your uniforms on either the second or third day. They will be delivered via UPS at some point (I'm not sure how long). 5. Next week is a pay week, so you will get your first pay check on your third Thursday. The Metrocard is only for you and nobody else in your household.
  12. Likewise, if you are on a northbound D train that is express in the Bronx, the left hand side doors don't open after 9th Avenue until Bedford Park.
  13. RDOs and tours generally change every two weeks while one is on YX. I had different RDOs when I was YX.
  14. Or it might have got swapped at Euclid.
  15. To answer #1, it's because there are different speed limits for each direction. I don't know why it is like that.
  16. Thats the reason why I don't like those canned announcements.
  17. It is used for a train leaving the turnaround tracks and going back to 179 or Parsons. Went to Broadway Lafayette after West 4th upper then went to Essex.
  18. After yard posting and the review day, you will have one week of yard familiarization where a TSS in that yard will show you around in each yard.
  19. The 4 express idea won't work since that will skip too many important local stops (i.e 161, Fordham, Bedford Park) There is no point in having the Lefferts A skip only 2 stops. Plus trains are stored on the middle track during the middays. The 7 is not all THAT long. If people wanted a "quicker" ride to upper Manhattan/ Riverdale, they could just take the A to 168 and change to the 1, or even better, ride Metro North. All because there are middle tracks throughout the system does not mean it is practical to run express service.
  20. There was one south of Broadway Lafayette, but it was removed during the Chrystie Street connection construction.
  21. I'm surprised they cancelled the 7 train GO. That GO happens in any weather!
  22. Tommy John, was that your class at 168 today?
