  1. Wow, that's awesome! JG is getting new buses a lot sooner than everybody expected! I guess this has to do with JG giving buses to LIB, I guess they decided to give JG the new buses sooner rather have them loan RTSs from UP & FLA.
  2. LOL @ the see though back door, B/Os sometimes use that area to use the bathroom if there isn't one near the terminal of whatever route their driving, looks like they'll have to use a different method now.
  3. loaner Hybrids to SC? why not use the C40s they have?
  4. Yep, the RTS @ JG thing is true, a reliable poster on BC posted that some UP RTSs are now @ JG. As a foamer and a commuter on a JG route, I think this is awesome! I must admit, I'm shocked they didn't use 6000 Orions from CAS though, but they switched up the 3G order and made QV first so I guess its a moot point.
  5. 8768 is at Flatbush, seen it on the B41 yesterday w/ FLA stickers...
  6. Forgot to post this... but the NTT I rode on the last night now has the new "Newkirk Plaza" announcement.... For those of you who don't know, they changed the name of the station from Newkirk Ave to Newkirk Plaza.
  7. On weekends there's a lot of unused 160s from the & ... that's why I got the impression they might put some on the to rest the aging R46s. Then again I saw a 46 in service that past Saturday so I guess not lol. Those 46s are troopers, they be getting pounded on those & lines and they still keep on rolling. Thanks! Nice to know there still around, hopefully the 64 46s that leave for SIR will be from Jamaica yard. Thus making the chances of one finding one of these trains a bit higher.
  8. Today my train over the Bridge via 6th Ave, rode it all the way to Nas's old stomping grounds before taking the to the - back home. I wonder what happened on Broadway to cause that? Also does anybody know how common the R160 train is? I go out of way during weekends and rush hour (When there most likely to pop up) and never see them. For some weird reason its really rare to see any subway car other than the R46 on the during midday weekdays. Pre R160 era, the R32s always ran on the rush hour only and sometimes weekends, but never midday during the week. While the OTOH, it was pretty common to see 32s on there any time of the day. I know the used 40M/42s during the midday during the week right before they retried, that's the ONLY time I remembered seeing non 46 equipment on the during midday's.
  9. Wow.... 4826... 4827... only a couple of more buses until Ulmer Park batch!
  10. IDK if this was mentioned or not but 9635 is at Flatbush, seen it on the B41 today. This major swap that was posted above.... Nice to see DD60 MCIs make a return to SC and I get to see those awesome bright green signs at night. But SC losing the 2200s? Gonna miss em, those buses have GREAT heat!
  11. They still do vendor work on the RTS? For some reason I thought only the newer buses in the fleet get vendor work and then after a certain amount of time the TA has to do all repairs on the buses themselves, does anybody know if the 1996 RTSs still get vendor work?
  12. Since NYC is so anti Light Rail for whatever reason, I would create a SBS/BRT route on the Bay Ridge branch between Broadway Junction & 86th Street/4th Av. It would run out of ENY depot. Stops would be.... Broadway Junction Liviona Ave New Lots/Linden Blvd Rocakway Av Remsen Ave Ralph Av Utica Av Flatbush/Nostrand junction Beford Ave E 16th street (For the Brighton line) CI Ave Ocean Parkway 18th Ave 62nd Street 4th & 5th Av After this the route would run on 4th Av to 86th street and end there. My Light Rail idea is pretty much the same except that it would end at 4th & 5th Ave and would be based out of Bush Terminal yard rather than a bus depot. A bellmouth would be built at 4th & 5th Ave in case they would want to extend the line underground on the eastern side of 4th Ave to 86th street..
  13. Since this past Friday, I've been getting a O-V CNG on my AM commute every day (Except for Tuesday when it was a C40LF) I'm lovin it! I'd never thought I say this but I think I have the GOAT bus commute now lol. I hope the B/O that drives the run I ride every morning takes a Orion V for his run up until the new C40LF comes to Gleason and retires them. These HF CNGs are so nice and roomy, a lot less drama than with the low floors. My only issue is, why do most of the V CNGs in JG, the engine makes that death tick noise? For those of you who ride these buses on WF/CP routes, is this sound common on the V CNGs in those depots? Its slimar to the bus in this video (Not my recording or video)
  14. The rear doors are closed, its not as easy to open them when the driver is at a stop, and open's them. But it is possible to open the rear doors while the bus is moving, I've seen it happen twice and it caused the bus to stop like a EB. And the current way more people would get hurt, esp if the bus is SRO, as they would all fall down, and the bus itself would probably get rear ended by another vehicle... Even though the bus stopping suddenly feature is in place, if they fall outside they still would get hit by multiple cars. I wish the MTA would go HAM with PSA ads about this like they do with the "Watch the Gap" and "Don't subway surf"
  15. I wonder why the MTA has southbound ( and trains that cross the Manhattan Bridge at the same time? Wouldn't it make sense for a and and and trains to cross the bridge at the same time? So you know, they could go though the junction with little to no delays. Bugs me when you take the train and have to wait for the to cross right in front of you, I'm sure the West End/Sea Beach peeps are annoyed by this as well. The same ish with the (2)/(5) lines at Franklin Ave southbound. ... Looking at my post in preview makes my post look like a bag of skittles with the subway route bullets lol.
  16. Today I rode a C40LF where the bus just randomly shut off... B/O turned the bus back on and continued driving like nothing happened. I wonder what causes that to happen? The same thing happened to me on a CAS MCI on the X10 a while back. Also, why do they designed the rear doors on buses where, if someone tries to open it while the bus is in motion, the bus comes to a compete halt? I can see the logic on a Light Rail or Subway/railroad car, which operate on a ROW where there are no cars... But a bus shares the road with other vehicles! What if the bus is being tailgated by a 18 wheeler and some buffon leans on it too hard causing the bus to stop and get hit by a truck smh. If someone is stupid enough to lean on the rear door while the bus is in motion, then there dumbass deserves to fall out of the bus.
  17. You can always look @ the timetable of a particular bus route, so you don't have to wait 20 minutes or more for it to show up.
  18. Reminds me of the time I saw ST bus timetables at White Pains Transit Center....
  19. Reminds me of the time I saw ST bus timetables at White Pains Transit Center....
  20. It is a common thing, the buses just don't be having space for anymore peeps, so they just keep on rollin rollin rollin' past the stop with riders waiting as there is no room for them to get on. That's the reason why I want to see the B8 go back to ENY, when it comes to crowding, RTS >>>> all the buses in JG except for the 98/9900s and they only have a little bit of them. I'm pretty sure flagging is common on those subway feeder routes in Queens and the Jamaica/Flushing LI Bus routes, I would be SHOCKED if its not. Esp with the LF buses. I seen it happen on the M60 once as well...
  21. I did not get flagged at all this week, feels good man. Ok, I purchased a Alarm Clock, so in a nutshell, I just left home earlier. The run that was usually flagging me I got on today, but thing is, I walked up to the subway station this morning rather that my usual stop, I missed the bus I have catching on the regular this week so just walked to the subway stop (Newkirk Av on the Brighton)... because its nearly impossible to get flagged at that stop due to the fact that someone always has to get off there lol. Still annoying middle age woman "co pilots" on the bus though. With that being said, I hate the fact pretty much all of the south BK bus routes get caught in a traffic jam in some shape or form during the afternoon hours... ugh...
  22. I wish the MTA would put Light Rail on the Bay Ridge Branch.... As I could take that to either the B63 or the B70 to get to work rather than deal with the lousy B8 bus, every morning. I really wish ENY got the route back just for those RTSs, and that's not even on some busfan ish ethier, I really hate my commute with a passion, I'm so jealous of y'all NYCTF'ers who commute on the subway lol. I mean this BS with the B8 bus seriously has me wanting to delete every bus photo I have on my computer and throw away all my bus timetables that I collect for hobby purposes... And only like trains. But then I ride a good sounding RTS and I don't even be mad anymore! The 90s was the best years for NYC buses, 100% HF and A/C buses, these LF are nice but the lack of space compared to the RTSs, D60HF or O-V is a Pain in the ass.
