  1. A first-hand account: http://www.subchat.com/read.asp?Id=1179011 In another post it was said this happened around 7:40am.
  2. The GO that made this catastrophe worse has just ended, 33 hours early.
  3. LIRR sent out alert at 14:36 that cross-honoring has ended. NYCT still has alert posted.
  4. Add to that the fact that its running local on the western half of the QBL...( remains express)
  5. Update: - still out TSQ-QBP. -Shuttle train TSQ-5 Av -Buses (and trains) are running 74-Main St -LIRR still crosshonoring Big problem: There is a GO this weekend cutting the 60 St tunnel between Lex and QBP!!!
  6. Email alert history: 0827: No service TSQ-QBP 0850: Line suspended 1019: No service TSQ-QBP Current: Why are the buses running next to the part of the line that is operational? And I seriously hope nobody's waiting for the LIRR at Mets-Willets, HPA, or LIC... A/C power problem means commercial power is either out or reduced voltage.
  7. There's news and photo proof that the instance was actually a 12-9.
  8. The situation in Lower Manhattan is NOT a 12-9. It's an escaped prisoner. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/new_york&id=8811542&rss=rss-wabc-article-8811542
  9. Line closed at 2PM, LIRR cross honored for a while before service was restored at 3PM.
  10. The route of the parade is Old Franklin St -> Franklin St -> Front St -> stop at Washington St, so some routes may not get through at all and will need to be detoured.
  11. Montauk trains that use the South Shore: 2707 2709 2710 2720 2733 2735 2745 2764 2798 8707
  12. How is this possible? There are no local-express switches at W4, and the is running to 2 Av...
  13. has resumed between Chambers and Broad, as well as between Marcy and Essex (I assume they had to back the sets up to Marcy to clear up track space) Now they changed reason to "rail condition", did the fire break a rail?
  14. "Limited" has resumed. I assume single-tracking.
  15. Latest update from the MTA: - no service south of Marcy - Service suspended entire line - some downtown trains terminate at 34 or W4.
  16. Its a crowded run because its the only train leaving Penn in the 5 o'clock hour to serve NHP, Merillon, and Carle Place.
  17. Lesson learned: Always carry a fare on you, even if you're sure you won't need it.

  18. What train were you on? There's no westbound that's scheduled to meet 1256 (the Hicksville local that wrong-rails from Queens eastward) at 18:08 in NHP. As you probably know already, NHP and Merillon are only 10 cars long, eastbounds don't platform the first two/westbounds the last two. Were there passengers in the first two cars? Wait...I just did the math and got 99% load for 5 cars! I would hate to ride that train every day...
  19. I get the ridership books in May and they reflect the consist used in the fall of the previous year, so any changes after that aren't reflected. The scheduled load fits on 5 cars, but its pretty tight. And I was under the impression that rush hour service is never re-blocked except during service cuts, so...
