  1. 4060/69 never stopped running, so you could have just as easily heard that.
  2. Yes. Yes you are… Not taking proper care of your feet and blaming the boots. Spaming here for attention….
  3. Working the shuttle: There is new invert and rails as far east as “FDR Interlocking” (that’s its name on the model board) “skeleton” track on new invert from there through to Roosevelt Island Station. just past the station to the east is newly poured invert with no track at all. they are currently ripping it up in the eastern river tube work has not yet reached Queensbridge. the current GO runs to the end of the month. We’ll see where we are come thanksgiving.
  4. that's the thing, nothing is wrong with them. Transit buys you boots every year, of your choice, from a selection of brands. Some are even well-known name brands, like, you can even get Timberland branded ones.
  5. Pretty sure I saw her in the barn at PIT yesterday. She looked ready.
  6. Welp… finally did it. Finally got a turn on the 211T… Their software still has the “doors open ->” display on the ceiling and the pre-programmed side lights up ahead of time. Gonna be fun the first time Euclid brings an express in on the local at the last second. Watching the empty train move between stations, the body bending around the curves, rising and falling with the grades was… it was fascinating. It was mesmerizing… it might also have been nauseating but that might just have been something like a sinus infection showing up at the worst possible time. It’s about two hours later and I’m still feeling funky. (I am going to assume it was the latter because I have only ever thrown up after getting off a ride once and that was that piece of trash coaster in NJ that fell into the ocean and that not just my opinion, she was known to be a rough ride)
  7. considering that the boots come from various different manufacturers that we get to pick from… that’s going to be a “no” from a lot of people including me.
  8. It’s not so much saying they’re coming back, so much as demanding it. Every time the R211s have suffered even the slightest setback , they have started with this nonsense. Many armchairs do not think before they speak. I had someone on the comments of one of my videos suggest the F should get the R143s. I have been an MTA employee now for about 18 months. I am not trained on anything older than the R46s. You would need the exact opposite of the R211 protection crew to operate any R32s in service. that being said. I will point out we do have the “movie train” (yes, that’s its sort-of-official name), but again, I have no clue what to do with it, and there several hundred people behind me on the B division conductor roster who don’t have a clue ether.
  9. https://gothamist.com/news/2-staten-island-railway-conductors-assaulted two conductors just trying to help a person at the MVM get beat up for the process…
  10. So… I had not one… BUT TWO… kids hanging off the sides/ back of my train in the space of about 10 minutes… I swear these kids have no self preservation instincts…
  11. first of all, please keep in mind, when you work for transit, you work for a massive bureaucracy with about 55,000 employees. Just because something doesn’t occur with the snap of a finger doesn’t mean people are being lazy. That’s really rude to say about some pretty hard working people. that being said, this is not transit’s issue to worry about, but Kawasaki’s. They made the mistake, the cars are under warranty, this is all on them. this is like getting one of those automotive recall notices in the mail.
  12. The idea then is to bid for other agencies contracts when not working on our own.
  13. As far as I’m aware, there aren’t any DoCE people who hang out here. We’d have to ask them for a direct answer.
  14. 1: depends on how severe the issue actually is. 2 & 3: rolling stock not on the active roster is not a serious priority. If they have been inspected and found not to have the cracks, they can still go through testing.
  15. Some days I wonder if it would be easier if we just built the damn things in house… Come to think of it… Create more local jobs, create the possibility of bidding on contracts from other agencies. not that bad an idea.
  16. Oh, so they finally admitted to something we’ve know about for over a week…
  17. They’re not riding better. Just as bouncy as ever.
  18. Has it ever occurred to you that we train crews are human beings who have lives outside of our train cabs…? That we are not part of the train? That we were not built in the factory? That we’re not machines? You want to make the F local all day? 55 station one way trip? A near two hour trip on a GOOD day… all because some people are a smidge impatient? sure… doesn’t affect you. You don’t have to travel the entire way. You don’t have to be on the train from Jamaica to Coney. We do.
  19. Rerouting the November does not suddenly create more Whiskeys. That’s not how this works at all.
  20. Or just do what I do and read them all to get a general idea… even if I don’t understand what they’re actually doing… still want someone to explain what the foxtrot “Ekki-Hilti” is… (Nevermind, googled it and actually got an answer…)
  21. As opposed to the terrible capacity impacts of cutting the number of trains at such a popular station?
  22. Pre-pandemic, 49th street was the busiest non-transfer station on the core Broadway Line, ranking 50th.
  23. … we don’t. The only station that is still short is on the A division, 145th/Lennox
  24. It’s a backup method to cut out and isolate a car. To my knowledge we only actually supposed to use it without express permission. kills power to the door motors without throwing the breakers.
  25. this is leaf season, remember. one bad slide is all it
