  1. The G.O. On T2 has received an extension into mid December. I’m guessing this means they probably won’t really get started on T1 until the beginning of January. Got to take down all the construction barriers blocking T2 for one thing.
  2. Tell that to the E crew who took a train full of passengers into the Continental Relay last week because they weren’t paying attention… under normal circumstances, taking the wrong lineup, of which punching wrong is a subset of, the conductor is required to pull the cord at the next station as per rule. You punch for 8th when you’re supposed to be going down 6th, that’s a CHOW! the moment you get to spring street and stop. the only exception is taking a local lineup when you’re supposed to be on the express. Express on the local is express unless told otherwise. I personally prefer to be told directly ether way, but that’s just me…
  3. So, when you’re new with transit, you are “extra extra” or “XX” and can be assigned anywhere in your division. being a B division Conductor, that means every single line save for the shuttles. i now have enough seniority to pick to be assigned down to working “extra”. aside from the two divisions, the subway is broken down into five districts. District 1: 0,1,2,5 district 2: 3,4,6 district 3 (B division South): B,D,N,Q,R,S,W District 4 (B division North): A,C,H,J/Z,L,M District 5 (Queens): E,F,G,7 (don’t ask me about the 7, I don’t know exactly why it’s lumped in with the QBL… operationally it’s crewed by district 1) anyway, once you are high enough in seniority, you can pick to be assigned to just one of the districts in your division. This is “extra list” or “XL”. So that means, starting next month, I will only be working on the A,C,J/Z,L or M. i will no longer have to go to the bronx. i will no longer have to go to Stillwell Avenue. i will no longer have to go to 179/hillside. I will not longer have to work on R68/As.
  4. they were too busy with 7th Avenue on the Culver line getting it's elevators.
  5. cha cha cha cha cha! I got XL No-orth! cha cha cha cha cha! Sorry, I'm in a good mood. no more running all over town like a maniac. carry on.
  6. This is besides the fact if we spend a full 8 hours on a train… something has gone very wrong.
  7. Admittedly that sign was put there before we consolidated the IND in midtown to 34 Master.
  8. A2 track has been OSS for well over a decade for museum reasons between the switch south of Hoyt and the switch south of Court. As for B division punches, not all punches are created equal. some are route requestors; others are to tell the tower who you are.
  9. We have empathy… for people who deserve it. your issue is YOUR FAULT. It is not the boots. It is not transit. It is not us. It’s entirely on YOU.
  10. Simple answer, QBL CBTC East arrived and dumped a box of monkey wrench’s on the corridor.
  11. Because of what we call “Piggybacking”, other work is being done. also with above ground winter storm shutdowns, we don’t always turn the trains around there, many do continue outside. that’s just where we kick everyone off.
  12. well... The Zs are technically Js and the Ws are Ns. There are no dedicated W or Z jobs in the system. The & are not considered separate in any way. Those are just there to make it quick and obvious what they're doing. The rest are fully separate lines.
  13. Because I’ve only been on the T while it was moving once.
  14. You know what's nice? the little salute the give to people with long careers on their last day of retirement over the radio. You know what's not nice? When they go on and on for literally a total of 10 minutes, hogging the airwaves, like someone did last week... If I talked that much non-stop, I'd be doing time in the streets if I was lucky...
  15. the sides are pre-programmed. They are not connected to the MDC or the door enabler system. We have no control over which sides they show up on. It's baked in. When I got to take the 211Ts on a test drive two weeks ago, the system lit up correctly for the program we selected, and here comes me, opening the other side doors.
  16. better question would be WHY? I checked. That's not in the computers. The C has 480 foot long trains, because the shop at 207, for reasons beyond any mere mortal understanding, can't take 600 foot ones.
  17. … let’s just dig up all of Central Park while we’re at it…
  18. Except that provision north of 57/7 was cut into to build the 63rd street line. It’s impossible to use it, as the active tracks cut through the unused trackways at what would have been grade level. Going over 63rd would be too steep a grade and going under, would not have the clearance between the two existing routes. literally the only was to do it would be for the northbound track to follow the curve with 63rd street tracks, drop under the tracks coming from sixth and make a giant u-turn to the west… and all of this under Central Park… which you may recall people were not happy with us digging the tunnels that are already there under.
  19. Except… they’re not a combined entity. They are crewed separately. They are based separately. remember that until the mid 90s, the C and B were swapped uptown. The B went to 168 and the C was BPB/145 lower middle.
  20. You can buy your own boots and even get reimbursed, so long as a manger signs off on them after inspecting that the meet the requirements, most notably an electrical hazard rating that could take the third rail.
  21. Am I a “company woman” or am I just good at sniffing out a story that doesn’t make logical sense. Look, taking everything you said at face value, here is the problem with your entire argument: The boots transit buys, are OFF THE SHELF boots that anyone can buy, made by multiple different, completely unrelated manufacturers. These aren’t made specifically for the MTA. Safgard doesn’t make the boots. They’re a wholesaler. just to prove my point, here is my first pair of transit work boots for sale on Granger.com. You will notice they are also “Avenger” branded. https://www.grainger.com/product/52DF85?gucid=N:N:PS:Paid:GGL:CSM-2295:4P7A1P:20501231&gclid=Cj0KCQiAo7KqBhDhARIsAKhZ4ujuRUzXcttO-7vYISiAPdzdy6yJLBRx8MLQlNryEwfhpsEdUOszs1oaAm2mEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds I did not have a problem with them. For them ALL to be bad, something would have to be extremely wrong. what it seems like to me is you had an issue with your foot and chose to fall for the “correlation equals causation” fallacy and blame the boots. You say you got a callus (there’s no “O”) on your ring toe… specifically you say “inbetween”, which makes it sound like it was between your toes. Calluses are caused by friction. That means your toe was rubbing up against something repeatedly. It would seem that the problem was not the boot in and of itself, but how you were wearing them. If the boot is on correctly, then it should move with your foot and not rub against it. I might have gotten a blister on two after some really long platform jobs, but calluses take a long time to form. Up to a month of repeated friction.
