  1. What does "first mile-last mile connections" refer to? Considering how many vehicles the city is going to need to get off the street if they really want to reduce congestion, they will need to get all of this infrastructure in place before congestion pricing starts. And I hope CP gets some of that money to finish installing wifi in buses numbered below 3125! Why are they the stepchild depot with only half the exp buses installed with wifi?? Meanwhile, the 7 pm QM1 is now consistently full since it started coming consistently. Crazy how people start riding the bus when it actually runs regularly LOL
  2. If you can't make good time on a Sunday morning going to Queens, forget ever making it on time lol!
  3. That is super helpful as always! What time does is usually arrive at NST? I'll probably be taking it pretty far down the line
  4. Anyone know how reliable the 9:30 am QM6 to NST on Sunday mornings is? I may be doing some reverse commuting on sundays for a while, but never took the bus to queens that early @Lil 57 @Via Garibaldi 8
  5. I'm on the 6:30 QM1, running right on time and doing just what it should--supplementing the very full QM5 that is right in front of it.
  6. Same with how they had all the TBTA vehicles, except for tow trucks, painted in the same blue and gold
  7. Wasn't there a guy a year or so ago who was gonna start a private quasi-express route with an old RTS (or at least I think it was an RTS)? I remember someone posting an article about it. What ever happened to that?
  8. As usual, DOT makes no sense...there aren't THAT many QM2's/20's picking up passengers each day that shifting them to 59th street magically makes 57th Street clear. Plus, the QM2's are still dropping off on 57th Street. Ugg, DOT seems even less competent than the MTA based on your interactions with them.
  9. I'd imagine the would want to wait to try out changes during the summer pick when ridership and traffic are lighter. But then again, when does the ever use logic...
  10. As VG8 said, the QM5's leave you quite a bit away from your destination during peak hours if you are trying to get to the Fresh Meadows complex or the Fresh Meadows mall
  11. I'm literally on the bus right now. About 20 passengers total...not bad considering no one has any faith this bus will appear
  12. The QM5s have such a long route before they get to 188th Street that they are often full by the time they do the Fresh Meadows loop. Keep in mind these buses are only made to hold 57 people. The QM1 supplements the QM5/6 during peak times so they are not overloaded. The QM1s, especially in the AM peak, are often 60-75% full by the time they get to Main Street. You can tell the difference when one of the QM1s go missing!
  13. YES! And it is much appreciated! It's been a much less stressful commute with those buses running. Of course, between last night and this morning, I saw two CP exp buses broken down on Union Tpke getting road calls lol. It never ends with the MTA
  14. "A few stops off" is an understatement lol! l assume they meant the Kew Gardens LIRR stop? It is so infuriating that the MTA spends money on this expensive tech, and then seems to spend all of 3 minutes actually programming it. No one gives any attention to details! Half of the stops are still terribly mispronounced, there are some spelling errors...it is ridiculous. It's hard to have any faith that any significant improvements can ever be made in the system since so much of those improvements depend on having people who care about details and nuances. Grr...
  15. One of the 849x buses on the Q46 lists one of the transfers at the Kew Gardens terminal as "Babylon". No explanation, just says and lists Babylon in addition to the Q10 etc
  16. I've been seeing a lot of B/O's line training on the Union Tpke routes in the last week or two. Hopefully this means now the can only claim buses are broken down instead of buses being broken AND not having enough personnel to run the buses. Same goes with the local routes. I actually saw a training bus out of JAM practicing making stops on Union Tpke in the Q46 bus stops. Never saw that before.
  17. If the really put a lot of thought into it, there are so many creative ways to increase EXP ridership through seasonal routes, special cross-promotions with events like you mentioned with weekend getaways on the railroads, etc. It's a real shame they don't do it. All it does is reinforce the stereotype of express buses being for regular commuters who dislike non-regulars from ever riding.
  18. [Insert Cellino and Barnes jingle here]
  19. The bus rear ended a car? Yikes, I wouldn't want to be in that car. Those buses do damage to weeny sedans
  20. Lovely. I try to avoid taking the Manhattan bound QM5/6 between 9:00 am and 10:00 am because they are so often late or bunched or just never show up.
  21. Another lovely morning on Union Tpke. The 9:00 QM6 to manhattan didn't run (I dont think it was a ghostbus because I was standing at the stop when it would have come), and I'm 99% sure the 8:50 QM5 skipped the Fresh Meadows loop because he mysteriously saved 6 minutes off his trip right before he got to 188 St, which in my experience means skipping the loop And of course this 8:50 QM5 is now SRO
  22. I've been reading all about the new Hudson Yards building development, and how they cantilevered over the LIRR yard underneath it. I wonder what it's like to have to make moves underneath that. I image it's a whole lot hotter than it used to be with all the exhaust trapped inside, unless they have a good system for dissipating it.
  23. So in these cases, they aren't actually sending another bus, they are just telling the 17:03 to do the Fresh Meadows loop, right? Really makes you wonder where the hell the QM1 and it's B/O are all those days...it's like a game of Where's Waldo LOL
  24. Absolutely! RIght now I am on a QM6 which is running smoothly. I didn't see the 5:30 QM1 when I was starting to track buses, but to be honest I forget exactly what time I started tracking. I do see 3 QM1s on the map right now at various points en-route to Queens.
  25. I caught the 6:30 QM1 on Wednesday and the 7 pm on Thursday. Both ran right on time. The Thursday 7 pm bus actually had a trainee B/O who drove quickly but had no clue how to use any of the bus' controls lol.
