  1. What exactly is a mileage swap? One of the depots has been putting too many miles on the buses?
  2. I too just saw an Orion 3G on the Q46 (4479, I beleive). What's the deal with this switch? Haven't seen a 3G at QV in a while. I can't tell from the above comments
  3. Gotcha. I actually liked te older 1000's when CP had them because of their seats which I found to be recline particularly well. Haven't yet caught one of the 2000's on the QM5 yet, but looking forward. The display is a pain to read in the sun, though.
  4. I've been seeing one or two of the older 2XXX buses on the QM5/6 that still say NYCT Transit on the side.
  5. That's just the EMT's and Paramedics' equipment bags on top of the stretchers, not people, in case they are needed. Standard procedure in these situations,
  6. What is with this talk of the air conditioners on the R32's shutting down above a certain temperature? Does that refer to the ambient temerature, or the temperature of the A/C equipment? Seems kind of strange that an air conditioner would be set to turn off when it gets really hot, unless it is going to damage the equipment. Also, I thought the R32's got new A/C units installed last year, unless I am mistaken. Shouldn't the new equipment prevent that problem?
  7. Damn, that's terrible to hear. Why don't they have you cut the power if there are no in service trains coming in or out of the stations?
  8. Thanks! When will CBTC be operating on the ?
  9. Forgive me, I haven't been keeping up with these changes. What's going to be the final deal with this plan? The will be completely back to R62's once the 188's are finished? And who decided to put in all the CBTC equipment on the before the Lex Ave lines--seems like the Lex line could use it more. '
  10. Oh jeez, I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. Murphy's Law at play, I guess. Remember that it is not your fault or a representation of your skills or training. It's an unfortunate experience that will be a learning experience for you in the future.
  11. I could see this being useful for LGA workers that live in Brooklyn (I'd imagine there is a fair amount of those people), but are there that many travelers coming from brooklyn on a regular basis? Those types of airport lines really make money off of tourists, not the occasional local resident who is taking a trip. Then again, if the line already exists, it might be cost-neutral to extend it and get a few more regular riders.
  12. More evening and Friday runs on the Q46. Fewer runs on the Q17.
  13. Any word on that plan to upgrade the R68's to have communication panels in all the cars, along with some other upgrades that the MTA announced? The idea was floated a few months ago, but I have not heard anything since.
  14. A lot of B/O's I have spoken to say they dislike the traffic checker guys. Not totally sure why, but just thought it is good to know.
  15. 4197 (an Orion NG) is on the Q46 today- I just rode it in service about 10 minutes ago. It still has another depot's sticker on it, but I could not see which it was. Not sure if this is a permanent switch or just good luck, but I do like seeing something new(-ish) on the Q46.
