  1. It will take at least a year mimimum, maybe even 1 & 1/2 years, depending how fast they go through the 2613 list. There are 3,621 people on the list and if it takes Human Resources to go through 200 people a month, then the list will be finished in 1 & 1/2 years. NYC "Transit Authority" covers all 5 boros - Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Staten Island. MaBSTOA (Manhattan and The Bronx Surface Transit Operating Agency) is only for two boroughs, respectively. MTA buses covers all 5 boros where the private bus lines used to operate (Green Bus Lines, Queens Surface, Triboro Coach, etc.).

  3. Well, you need a 70 to pass the exam, which means a minimum of 42 correct answers (since 42 divided by 60 equals 0.70, convert that to a percentage would equal 70%) to pass the exam. In order to pass the exam, you must have 18 wrong answers max. When comparing your answers to the proposed answer key online, each question is worth 1 & 2/3 points (since 100 divided by 60 = 1.67). Therefore, multiply the number of correct answers you have times 1.67 (or 1.66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666667, depending on how many decimal places your calculator can hold) to get your score. Don't forget to round to two places (eg 87.50, 91.25, etc).
  4. Important MTA Broadcast regarding the exam and the snowstorm: From Exam Administration "This is a notification to inform you that the examination for Transit Bus Operator scheduled for Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th will take place as scheduled. We do not anticipate a postponement of the exam due to the snow storm expected this weekend in New York City. Check your admission letter for the date, time and location of the school you are scheduled to report to. Be sure to allow for extra travel time due to weather related delays. We do not plan to have a make up examination. Should severe weather conditions occur you may contact the weather hot line at, 347-643-7223."
  5. Usually a few months. With 2613, they gave a make-up exam in the middle of March which delayed them releasing the answer key...
  6. In addition, I have good news for everyone! Empire Exam Services is offering a last class on Thursday, December 12th for those who are taking the exam this upcoming weekend. The class will cost $100.00 for new students and $25.00 for any returning students, providing they bring their copy of the lesson plan from the previous class. Just like before, the class will be taking place at the Christ Lutheran Center, 85-15 101st Avenue, Ozone Park, 11416. This is easily accessible via the Q8 bus or the 88th Street Station off the line. For more information, email mtanycexamclass@gmail.com.Remember, time is ticking! The instructors have over 30 years with NYC Transit!
  7. This is a paper exam. And you will not receive your score as soon as you finish. If you record your answers on the "Candidate's Personal Record of Answers" form, you can compare this with the answer key that the MTA posts, which can be found by going to http://www.mta.info/nyct/hr/proposed_answerkey.htm.
  8. I thought I read that for exam 2613, out of 30,000 people that toook the exam, only 3,621 people passed. In addition, I am also scheduled to take the exam on December 15th as well.
  9. It says on the fourth line from the top of the General Instructions category: "The test will last 1.5 hours."
  10. It should...re-read the paragraph, it says it in there.
  11. My admission letter states that the exam is going to be an hour and a half long (aka 90 minutes). I would not be surprised in a way if it is going to be a short exam (40 Questions), just like the Track Worker exam this past year, in an effort to get more candidates for the position.
  12. Try http://www.mta.info/nyct/hr/pdf/CorrectionForm.pdf.
  13. Mind I ask what phone you used to order the book? Also, how do you know it's up to date? Just curious...
  14. I just got my pink notice as well. December 15th @ Brooklyn Technical High School, 1:30 PM.
  15. On the notice of examination (http://www.mta.info/nyct/hr/archives/pdf/4600.pdf), it says on the top of page 2 that at the time of appointment, you must have 3 years of driving experience. I personally think you will have enough time. Here is why: First of all, NYC Transit administered exam 2613 in January of 2013 (http://www.mta.info/nyct/hr/archives/pdf/2613.pdf). From what I read, according to http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/ (not 100% sure of which post), out of 30,000 people that took the exam, 3,621 passed. I took the exam, in which I got a final score of 87.50% and a list # of 271. To this date, I have not received a phone call for part 2 of my medical, which is followed by training, etc. Therefore, HR (human resources) has to first go through the list for 2613 before it can move on to the list for 4600. Second, from my prior experience, providing you pass 4600, close to 6 months later you will be asked to take the BOSS (Bus Operator Selective Survey). In my opinion, close to 6 months after that minimum, they will start calling candidates from exam 4600 in list number. (Those that score higher get a lower list number and those that barely pass the exam with a 70, 71.25, 72.50, etc. get a very high list number). Therefore, since the exam is in December of 2013, and with the fact that NYC Transit has to finish up with exam 2613 first, my educated guess is that NYC Transit will start calling candidates from this exam in February or even March of 2015, the earliest. Therefore, if I was you, don't worry about it. It's going to take them at least one year to call people from 4600, providing they pass the exam and BOSS. You should be fine.
  16. The link does not work my friend (at least for me)...
  17. Okay folks, I have just learned that Empire Exam Services that they will be offering another class for Bus Operator Exam 4600 on Saturday, December 7th, 2013. The class begins at 9 AM, doors should be open at 8:30 AM. The cost for this is $75.00 per person, with a lesson plan & material included. All you need to bring is a calculator (to help you with some mathematics), a pen or pencil, a sweater (incase the heat does not work, which has happened in the past) and either lunch OR money to purchase food across the street at the deli. The class will be held at 8515 101st Avenue, Ozone Park, N.Y. 10416. If you look on Google Maps, this is easily accessible from the 88th Street Station along the line. For more information, email mtanycexamclass@gmail.com
  18. Gotcha. From my experience this past January with exam 2613, I took the class, made index cards with the questions, practiced the other ones (that involved maps) and I got an 87.50 on the exam (10 wrong out of 80 questions). Therefore, in my opinion, there are a few questions, but not a lot.
  19. Not to criticize you, however that's very interesting you say that because I attended the class back in January for exam 2613 and I do not recall them telling the students to study the DMV booklet...
  20. I also had to take exam 3101 yesterday as well...any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  21. I thought so too. However, if a huge number of people are taking the BOSS, then the prep class might have been pushed back to 11/23/13. I would love to go, however I can not since I am on a business trip that weekend. I would suggest to email mtanycexamclass@gmail.com and see what they say.
  22. The exams on December 14th and 15th are for civil service. I sent NYC Transit an e-mail about some confusion on their webpage back in early September, and in their reply, they indicated the following: "The exam you applied for is NYCT - Bus Operator, Exam number 4600. This exam will be administered on December 14, 2013 and will be a multiple choice test. Your score on this test will be used to determine your place on an eligible list. The Bus Operator Selection Survey (BOSS) is the second part to this exam which would not occur until sometime next year. " The exam for 2613 was held in January and the BOSS for that was given in June. My educated guess is that the BOSS for 4600 will be given either in May or June of 2014.
