  1. You're welcome. Glad to help in any way I can.
  2. You're welcome. I don't think the HR Dept. can help you, since this issue is with the Examinations Department. If I was you, you can go to 180 Livingston Street and talk to someone in the lobby between 9 AM and 3 PM, or, as they suggest at http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/3101.htm, send them an e-mail and see what happens.
  3. From what I recall when I took it last in November of 2013, there were 77 questions and we had 2 & 1/2 hours, which sounds correct if you spend 2 minutes on a question... Hope this helps.
  4. First of all, please do not type in CAPITAL letters - it seems like you are screaming at someone, and if that someone reads this message the wrong way - it's not good (trust me). Second, according to http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/3101.htm, the BOSS for MaBSTOA B/O Exam #3101 was administered on November 16th. Therefore, I would not be 100% surprised if we are going to take it on November 15th, since they are not going to grade or mark the exam until November 17th, that Monday (the earliest), plus it takes time to match up all of the people who passed/failed the exam to the list of people who applied for the exam. November 15th/16th/17th is only a few days apart. If we are called, I'm not 100% surprised.
  5. I didn't get one, and I don't think I'm going to get one. The reason why is because I took the BOSS exam for MaBSTOA B/O exam #3101 back in November of 2013. I passed, which means that those results are good for one year, which means that I don't have to take it again until November of 2014, for MaBSOTA B/O exam #4105.
  6. This makes sense. If anything, for those those that applied for this exam and MaBSTOA Bus Operator #4105, by taking the BOSS once, that should satisfy for both NYC Transit and MaBSTOA!!!
  7. You're welcome. I majored in mathematics during my undergraduate studies, so doing those computations just took a little bit of thinking and time. Speaking of Sanitation, I do plan on filing for the exam next month. If I had to choose between the two, I would go for Transit. Why? a) My previous 2 generations, and my Uncle have worked for NYC Transit by holding various titles. b) There is room for promotion and/or switching to another title (e.g. transfer from track worker to either conductor or train operator, providing you take and pass the civil service examinations for those titles respectively) c) Other reasons which I cannot think of right now.
  8. I did not get a letter yet, and I don't think I'm going to get one. The reason why is because I last took the BOSS exam for the MaBSOTA Bus Operator Exam # 3101 back in November of 2013. I heard or read somewhere that, providing I passed the exam, which I believe I did, the results are good for an entire calendar year. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not taking it for the MaBSTOA Bus Operator Exam # 4105 next month, but I don't think I'll be taking it in early October.
  9. Technically on the Notice of Examination (http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/archives/pdf/3600.pdf), the top hourly rate is $29.1050 per hour. Therefore, if we do some mathematical computations: $29.1050 x 8 = $232.84 per day. (8 hours per each normal work day) $232.84 x 5 = $1,164.20 per week.(5 days/week) $1164.20 x 52 = $60,538.40 So if you work no overtime the answer to the question is 'no'. However, if you work overtime, the mathematical computations are: $29.1050 x 8 = $232.84 per day (normal 8 hours) $232.84 x 5 = $1,164.20 for a normal 5 day work week. Now overtime is time and a half. Therefore, half of $29.1050 = $14.5525, and the sum of these is $43.6575 per hour. $43.6575 x 8 = $349.26 (for one day of overtime) $349.26 x 52 = $18161.52 So if we add $60,538.40 + $18161.52, this comes out to $78,699.92, shy of $100K. Now if you work 7 days a week, in which 2 of them are overtime: $18161.52 x 2 = $36323.04 $60,538.4 + $36323.04 = $96861.44 So in the long run, in my opinion, the answer is 'no'. The reason why is because I did the above computations using 52 weeks, which means having little to no vacation and time off whatsoever, even your regular RDO days. However, you do get compensated a little more for working holidays (eg Presidents Day, July 4th, Labor Day, etc.) Therefore, if you are a workaholic and you do work 52 weeks out of the year, you will probably make it or come very close, like within $2,000.
  10. You physically don't need 3 years of driving experience. You just need your license, whether it is a CDL or regular to be clean for the past 3 years. So if you get into an accident in May of 2014, you have to wait until May of 2017.
  11. I highly doubt I'll get any info from HR...if I do, I'll mention here. As far as taking the BOSS exam again, it's all under the MTA, and from prior knowledge the BOSS exams for NYC Transit B/O (Exam #2613) and MaBSTOA B/O (Exam #3101) were the same...we'll see what happens.
  12. Since BOSS is the same for NYC Transit, MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Company, I thought I read or heard somewhere that, if we pass the BOSS, the results are good for a year. Therefore, if we took BOSS in November of 2013 for MaBSOTA Bus Operator Exam # 3101, I think those results will be good in which we don't have to take BOSS for NYC Transit Bus Operator Exam # 4600. However, you may have to re-take it for MaBSTOA exam # 4105, which is going to be offered this upcoming November 15th.
  13. No you are not the only one. I did not receive anything either. However, I did take the BOSS for MaBSTOA Exam # 3101 back in November of 2013, and if the results from that are good for an entire year, I may not be taking BOSS until November of 2014.
  14. I e-mailed NYC Transit a while back asking the same question, since my weekend job is seasonal. They sent me a reply informing me that this is a Civil Service exam (which I think is bull***t) and there is no way of re-scheduling. Therefore, unless you can be in town for the exam, I think you are screwed.
  15. I did not get anything yet, a phone call nor a notice in the mail. I wouldn't be surprised if I do not get anything, since I still have to wait another 4 & 1/2 years in order to be considered again...
  16. If I had to take an educated guess, I would say at least 8,000 people took the exam; however no more than 12,000 people took it. The reason why is because there were a total of eight sessions for this exam - 4 at James Madison High School (Sat AM, Sat PM, Sun AM, Sun PM) and another 4 at Brooklyn Technical High School (Sat AM, Sat PM, Sun AM, Sun PM). When I went to take the exam, the Exams Unit of NYC Transit was only using one or two floors of the building, which in my opinion can only hold either 1,000 or 1,500 people, depending on the amount of classrooms. Also, in my opinion, what helped with 4600 compared to 2613 was that not only was the exam shorter (60 questions compared to 80), but I felt the exam was easier as well. The next question is to find out how many people actually passed the civil service exam and the BOSS exam. This will determine how many names will be on the list in which we will be called from to eventually report for employment processing.
  17. Even when I went for my Class A License, I was not required to open the hood and do an inspection. Just the pre-trip, both exterior and interior, as well as the air brake test, for both the tractor and the trailer.
  18. I hate to break the bad news, but if you Qualify on Day 10 you only have one chance with the road test. If you fail, then you're terminated. Like NewMatt said, you will get a letter 2 weeks before the actual exam date which will contain the date, time and location of the exam. As far as after the exam is over, you will only get a letter if you failed the exam. If you don't get a letter in which you failed the BOSS test, then you probably and most likely passed and your name will be on the 4600 list when it comes out, probably in late 2015.
  19. You're most welcome. If you, or anyone else have any personal questions, please do not hesitate to send me a private message (PM).
  20. If not disqualify, it will definitely be against you. I read somewhere in the B/O exam 2613 thread that a brand new B/O was hired, and, 6 months into his job the TA (since 2613 is for NYC Transit) discovered that he had a bunch of unpaid parking tickets and then shortly afterwards he was let go. Long story short: Make sure you have a clean license when you go to 180 Livingston on the first day that you go down for the drug test cause they will pull up your abstract and check it each and every time, especially on the days in which you go for the drug test prior to medical. They do NOT play around down there.
  21. From my experience going through Bus Operator training and not making it past training, I think the more important question is how to pass the employment processing at 180 Livingston Street, which will include a physical** and how to pass the training session. If I am correct, isn't this divided into 2 parts? The first part is in a classroom at PS 248 in Brooklyn and the second part is on the road training, which involves something similar to the video below? **Speaking of the physical, when I went for the physical last time on December 31st, 2013, I barely passed the vision portion of it. I don't normally wear glasses, however once in a while I do for long distance vision, since I'm on the computer so much. If I tell MAC (Medical Assessment Center) that I wear glasses, do I need a letter from my eye doctor, or will I be able to get by without one? The reason why I am asking is because I have been informed that if I have any medical condition, I should have a note from a doctor stating that it is under control, as I learned this the hard way when the TA physician first diagnosed me with muscle spasm, which is now on and off. However, so many people, including TA employees, wear glasses, therefore I'm wondering what should I do about this? Thanks in advance...
  22. You definitely hurt my feelings with that...
  23. What do you mean by "we"? The 2613 exam was administered in January of 2013, while the 4600 exam was administered in December of 2013. I just don't want anyone to be confused, that's all. You're welcome everyone.
