  1. Now it looks like we won't get our results until September 2014: (http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/3600.htm) LIST ESTABLISHMENT / NOTICE OF RESULTS: (UPDATED) At this time, we do not expect this list to be established before September 2014. Once the list is established, you will receive your official Notice of Results in the mail. (The rest of the information is the same as in the previous post.)
  2. I wouldn't even waste your time with that, because the 4600 candidates didn't even take the BOSS exam yet. Plus, they have to go through the entire 2613 list before they can even start with 4600. Keep in mind also that only 10% of the people who took 2613 passed, and, as a result, that list only consists of 3,617 (or 3,621) names compared to 18,000 or something similar. Therefore, consider ourselves lucky and just be patient. That's all.
  3. You're welcome. As far as waiting 2 years, it depends on how fast they move with the 2613 list...
  4. A 97% should be at the top of the list, however it depends primarily on who else got a score in the high 90's and when you initially applied for the exam. The reason why is because if a lot of people got the same score (97% or whatever), the list # will be determined based on when you initially applied. Therefore, if 500 people got a 97%, and you applied for the exam on the last day, then you may not be as high on the list as you think. You're welcome. Keep in mind that once you get your permit, you are allowed to re-new it once after 1 year. In 2 years, you have to take the tests all over again. Therefore, unless you plan on going to driving school, my personal suggestion is to wait until they are pretty much finished with 2613. Think about it: They finally call you and you have to take the permit tests all over again. Do you want this to happen to you?
  5. You need to keep in mind that exam 2613 was given in January of 2013 and 4600 was given in December of 2013. Therefore, everyone from 2613 will have a first chance at the position. According to http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/page-344 and page 342, someone with a list # of 579 got sworn in and someone with a list # in the low 800s is waiting for final processing. Keep in mind that 3,617 people passed exam 2613, so they are not even 1/2 way done with the list. Bottom line, it will be a while...
  6. http://www.cristcdl.com/otc/ worked for me, and it's free!
  7. Wrong thread...refer to http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/39546-bus-operator-oa-exam-no-3101-is-out/.
  8. Just try to do your best every day. If you screw up, especially on days 1 to 5, it's not a big deal, since Days 6 and 7 are the ones that really count. If you screw up on days 6 or 7, you have another chance to qualify on Day 9. If not, then it's Day 10 with 2 Superintendents.
  9. About 6 months ago in October, we got an e-mail stating that they are grading the exams and the results should be out in 6 months, which is April. I've also been calling DCAS (212-669-1357) at least once a week for a list # and no luck yet.
  10. The BOSS (Bus Operator Selective Survey) is a mini-psychological exam. The purpose of the exam is to try to eliminate those people who are psychologically unfit - like those who are constantly late for work, those who are not friendly and supportive of their co-workers, etc. It is nothing like the civil service examination. My educated guess, especially since HR still has 2700 people to work with from the 2613 list...at least 6 months after the BOSS exam is given, maybe 9 months easily.
  11. Definitely sometime this year. If not June, then perhaps the fall. Keep in mind that with the number of people, using a NYC Public High School, like when we initially took our civil service exam, would be the easiest, and they are closed during the summer months...
  12. You're welcome. And in case you, and possibly others are curious about parallel parking, if you do a Google search for "how to parallel park a bus," the first Youtube clip contains someone parallel parking a city bus...it's not that hard, once you get the hang of it. Just like anything else - it's hard at first, however after you do it a couple of times...it gets easier and easier.
  13. Every instructor has 4 students. Each student will drive for a minimum of 90 minutes a day (90 x 4 = 360 minutes = 6 hours). There is also a one-hour lunch break, and the instructor may drive at the beginning and at the end just to get to a certain place faster. As far as more driving, it is up to the instructor and how much more time there is. Keep in mind that two of the days are cut short because the pre-trip inspection, both the exterior and interior need to be done. As far as parallel parking, the instructor will go over it, since everyone has a different way of doing it, plus what I describe may sound 100% confusing to you. If you listen and pay attention, you'll be fine. Keep in mind, you need an "S" on days 6 and 7 to be good, so even if you mess up the first time, learn from your mistake. At the end of the 10-day training, those who passed will 'pick' their depots. The depot you go to will be where you do your line training out of.
  14. Just like if you go to http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/appexam.htm now, you see there is a hyperlink for the 4 exams that are currently open for filing...something similar will happen once June 3rd or 4th approaches.
  15. If not before the summer it will happen in the fall...keep in mind that they still have a long way to go with 2613...
  16. It all depends on several factors. First, we still have to take the BOSS (Bus Operator Selective Survey) this upcoming year. If you don't pass that, you are not on the list! Several, it depends on how many other people took the exam and how the other people did. Example - when I took exam 2613, I got a 87.50% with a list # in the 270s. Now, if a lot more people had taken the exam and got 90s on that exam, my list # would have been lower. However, considering only 3,621 people passed the test out of 36,000, I didn't do that bad. What I also learned is that if several people get the same score on the exam, their list # will be based on when they filed for the exam. Example: Let's say that Bravo applied on August 20th, Whiskey applied on August 8th and Fox applied on August 14th (refer to http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/26925-nato-phonetic-alphabet/ in case you are wondering how I came up with those names). All of these people got the same score on the exam. On the list, Whiskey would be first, since he applied first, Fox second and Bravo last, respectively.
  17. Well, from exam 3101, if you didn't receive anything in the mail, that's good - which means you passed the exam. As far as exam 4600 is concerned, my educated guess is that we will take the BOSS exam for that sometime this year - either in June (before summer vacation) or in September.
  18. You're welcome. In addition, if there was a freeze, like in 2009 (if my memory recalls correctly), not only would this affect other city agencies, but it would also be on the news as well.
  19. There is no freeze. Let me remind you and everyone else of the situation: In January of 2012 B/O Exam 2613 was given. Out of the 36,000 people that passed, only 10% passed. As a result, B/O Exam 4600 was given in December of 2012, since not everyone passes training, not everyone comes clean with the drug test, not everyone successfully passes medical, etc. In addition, keep in mind that Bus Operators can also move on to Train Operators, Superintendents, etc. As far as Exam 2613 is concerned, they are still calling people. Last time I looked at the 2613 thread, they are up to the 700's. When that list is finished, then they will start calling from this list. If the HR Dept. of NYC Transit processes close to 200 people a month for this position, then don't expect to get called for at least another year. In addition, just as a friendly reminder, we also have to take a BOSS (Bus Operator Selective Survey) examination before the final list can be produced...
  20. You're welcome. Glad to help in any way I can.
  21. The union dues that were taken out of my check were $27.00. I don't know about the other stuff, especially since I still live with my own parents even to this date. Sorry...
