  1. All I am going to say is that with most things in life, there are advantages and disadvantages. Like someone else said in the other threads, the DMV test is not a big deal, they train you, and the day before they show you the road test area and let you practice on the bus you will be using and they also allow you to ask any questions. They are not just going to give it to you on a random day. In addition, someone else also said on the other threads that the MTA prefers candidates with the permits. Now if you go to driving school and get the CDL, you could possibly pick up bad driving habits, which the MTA does not want. Like I also previously said (post #874), I also took exam 2613 in January of 2013, and one of the advantages of taking that exam is, regardless of whether I have my permit or CDL, I am going to have seniority over you, and chances are, I am also going to get hired before you as well! Again, there are advantages and disadvantages with most things in life...
  2. Thanks! However, from reading 2 other Bus Operator threads, the training session prepares you for the road test, so I am not 100% worried about it. In addition, someone on one of those threads posted some advice as far as how to pass the test. Plus, for those of us that want to save $$, this is the way to go, because you do not have to give $$ to go to driving school, nor use a bus for the road test!
  3. Really? The people going to training must have a CDL license? If that is the case, then how come on the second page of the Notice of Examination (http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/archives/pdf/4600.pdf), it says that you must possess either a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) OR a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York AND a CDL Learner Permit with Passenger Endorsement? In addition, what happens if you do not pass the training session? Then you just wasted all of that $$ of a CDL for nothing, right?
  4. Answers: 1) When you go to pre-employment, they are going to run an abstract of your license. They want to see that you have minimum the CDL Class B permit with passenger endorsement. I have Class A, since I was undecided about possibly going to driving school to learn how to drive a tractor-trailer. If you do not have a valid CDL permit when you report, they are not interested in you. Therefore, work on getting your CDL permit first before going down for pre-employment. 2) On the first day of pre-employment, when you are initially called up to the counter, after waiting in line, you will be required to hand in your license so they can run an abstract to make sure the past three years are clean. When you get called to the counter again, in the order of your ticket #, you will get your license back and they will send you to the laboratory for a drug test. That's it. 3) As far as how soon, it depends. For me, I was initially called in early November, since my list # for 2613 was in the low 270s. I got called back on December 19th for a second drug test. I got called back a third time on December 31st for medical and possibly final processing. If I had gotten cleared by medical, I would have been in the January 13th class. However, if you read the 2613 thread (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/), you will notice that I got put on Medical Hold on December 31st, and as a result I had to go see a neurologist. As a result, I am now scheduled for the February 10th class.
  5. I will, however in the Bus Operator Exam 2613 thread, not this one. No, just the permit.
  6. When I compared my answers to the proposed answer key, I thought I got a score of 88.75%. However, they mailed me my results with a final score of 87.50%. Why this is - I don't know 100%, I probably made an error when initially recording my answers or comparing the online answer key with my results. With that I obtained a list # of 27*. I don't want to post the last #, since you never know who can be reading this (maybe someone from HR of NYC Transit). Anyways, myself, along with the first group of people reported for the first drug test in early November, and next week, I report to Zerega for Training. I have been posting my progress in the B/O Exam 2613 thread (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/) in case anyone is interested.
  7. 93.33%, 4 reading comprehension questions wrong, which I am not surprised about, since I am stronger in mathematics.
  8. I did not attend the protest session, however I doubt it. I took both exams 2613 and 4600. Myself and a few other people, who took both exams will agree that 4600 was easier than 2613 which had a lot more reading comprehension compared to anything else (80 questions compared to 60). I also obtained a higher score on this exam compared to 2613 as well.
  9. Good. My advice is to stay clean and make sure this is the only incident...
  10. I have taken a course similar to this in person in an effort to not reduce the number of points on my license, but to help lower the insurance cost. As far as point reductions, they only take off points for prior incidents. So say for example you took the class on 1/13/2014 and you got points on 1/20/2014, then you would have to re-take the class. More importantly, as far as HR of NYC Transit is concerned, the first time you go to 180 Livingston Street, they will pull up your NYS DMV abstract and examine it for any incidents within the past three years. Whether you take the online course or not, it will not erase the fact that you got a 3 point stop sign violation - the MTA will see it on your abstract for at least 3 years.
  11. You're welcome. Glad to be of assistance whenever I can.
  12. You're welcome. My recommendation for you folks is to call the 212 number periodically in order to obtain a list number. I just tried calling a few moments ago and was not successful. However, when I am successful, I will post something on this thread.
  13. All you have to mention is that you are interested in taking the class and you found about it through this website (nyctransitforums.com). They should reply back with all of the information. It can be very brief, a sentence or two will do.
  14. You know what the consequences of plagiarism are, right? I just feel it is truly disrespectful and you hurt my feelings as well. At least you could have mentioned in your previous post something like "someone e-mailed me this easy way on how to calculate my score, which is..." If you mentioned this, then not only are you not taking the credit for coming up with this, but also you are giving proper (or due) credit to someone else. In addition, if you look at post # 712 (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/41175-bus-operator-exam-4600/page-72), why couldn't you just quote me?
  15. First of all, why did you copy and paste information from someone's e-mail message without giving proper, or due credit? You know that this is plagiarism, right? And guess what? I (YoungNYCSubwayFan, am also NewNY2584) who sent out the e-mail to begin with!! How dare you do this!! In addition, folks, there is no need to send anyone a PM for inforation about a prep class for the BOSS exam. Just send an e-mail to mtanycexamclass@gmail.com. That's all.
  16. Thanks! Technically, they started calling in less than a year. However, for the next group that gets called, it will be a little over a year. Yes, depending on how fast they move with 4600.
  17. I did...I got put on medical hold, which took a couple of week to rectify...I go for final processing next week followed by training sometime in February.
  18. Well, if you think about it, there were approximately 3,000 people for just one session. There were a total of 4 sessions in one school (12,000 people) and another 4 sessions in another school (another 12,000 people). Therefore, if I had to take a guess, I would say 24,000 people applied for the exam. Now, not everyone is going to pass the exam, nor the BOSS exam. Therefore, that 24,000 number can easily be reduced to 18,000 people (if 75% of the people pass both exams). As far as going through all of these applicants, if NYC Transit goes through 200 people a month, that's 2,400 people a year. And if they decide to extend the list for 5 years (compared to the normal 4), they will go through 12,000 people. Unfortunately, with exam 2613, out of 36,000 people that took the exam, about 10% passed (3,621). Therefore, if NYC Transit goes through 200 people a month, this list will be finished in a year and a half from when they first started calling people (which was November of 2013). That's why the first post says: "Who would have thought another TA exam so soon."
  19. I disagree...for 2613, I heard about 36,000 people took the exam and only 3,621 people passed. And, as previously stated, not everyone makes it based on criminal record, they don't have the CDL permit, they fail medical, etc. In addition, from reading the 2613 thread (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/) they are hiring about 200 people a month, so the list should be finished within a year and a half from when they first started calling, which was November of 2013. Once that happens, then they'll move on to 4600.
  20. When the testing was done under DCAS (Department of Citywide Administrative Services), this is correct. However, this was NOT the case for exam 2613. After taking the test in January of 2013, we took the BOSS in June 2013. Then the list came out on October 30th, 2013 and they called the first group of people a couple of weeks after that.
  21. Folks, you have to remember that the still has to finish the 2613 Bus Operator list, which only has 3,621 names. Last time I checked that thread (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/) someone with a list # of 385 passed medical, got hired the same day and is going to training this Monday (if I recall correctly). Therefore, they still have 3,200 people to go through. And if they go through 300 people per month (since some people change their minds about the position and/or fail medical, training, etc.) you guys have to wait at least another 10 months before they start calling. This is probably why the list will not come out for another 9 months. Therefore, I guess this is a bad thing cause all of you have to wait, but we have to be fair for those who took exam 2613 and passed in January of 2013.
  22. Thanks! At least two other members (whom I am keeping anonymous) have sent me a private message asking me how to calculate their score. For those that are embarrassed to ask: The easiest way to do this (without 1.66 or 1.67) is to divide the number of questions you got correct by 60. Therefore, a few examples are: -If you got 30 questions correct, then on your calculator do 30 divided by 60 and you will get 0.5. Turn this decimal into a percent and you get 50% (you failed). -If you got 45 questions correct, you do 45 divided by 60 and you will get 0.75. Turn this decimal into a percent and you will get 75%. -If you got 54 questions correct, then do 54 divided by 60 and you will get 0.9. Turn this into a percent - 90%.
  23. I got 4 wrong, so 93.33 for me...in addition, I also took exam 2613, and I am going for final processing on Monday, so I guess I am ahead of all of you !!
  24. I just sent an email to examsunit@nyct.com asking them what the story is. Maybe if more people do the same, they will put the results online faster...
