  1. That's good, however I would not get it that fast. The reason why is because once you get it, you only have two years to get the licence. After 2 years, if you still want the permit, you have to take the tests all over again. Keep in mind that NYC Transit still has to finish with exam 2613 as well...
  2. Mastap is correct. Even though we took the exam for this last March, today I called DCAS (212-669-1357) to try to obtain a list number, since this worked for the B/O exam 2613. After I entered my information, there was no record of my social security #. Therefore, I have a feeling that they don't want to release the list just yet. In addition, when I was at 180 Livingston Street on December 19th for the second drug test (for B/O 2613), I was talking to the person next to me. He mentioned that he took the previous track worker exam (http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcas/downloads/pdf/noes/trackworker.pdf) and that there were no more track worker positions open/available. Therefore, the agency offered him a "cleaner" position which he was going for. In my opinion, based on this information, although the agency has a 'list' established, it will not be produced until there are track worker positions open/available.
  3. Service Change Posted: 12/29/2013 10:03PM Due to a signal problem at 65 St, northbound and train service running local from Queens Plz to Forest Hills- 71 Av. Allow additional travel time. Also, FYI, the Q17 is the bus that runs between Jamaica/179th Street and Main Street .
  4. I believe 75 questions if I recall correctly.
  5. I'm not spilling all of the beans...you're going to have to wait and find out!!
  6. The BOSS (Bus Operator Selective Survey) is a mini-psychological exam that the MTA gives in an effort to weed out some of the people they are not looking for. Another description is "The BOSS (Bus Operator Selection Survey) is a personality test to see what kind of person you are when it comes to operating a transit bus; your interactions with the passengers, coworkers, and bosses; and your tardiness at the job. It contains 75 multiple-choice questions and you have 75 minutes to complete it. If you really want to be a bus operator, DO NOT mark down the truth answers! Mark down the "what they want to hear" answers. Some of the questions will be repeated 2-3 times, but in different wording, so your answers must be consistent," according to SubChat. One sample question which is on this exam is: "I never feel in a rush, even under pressure." a) Strongly Agree b) Agree c) Neutral d) Disagree e) Strongly Disagree The answer they are looking for is 'B' cause as a Bus Operator, you are on a timetable, and especially in inclement weather, safety is a priority, especially when you have customers. There is a class that does prepare you for the BOSS exam in which they practically give you the questions and answers that are going to be on it. As we get closer to the exam date, I'll post more information about it.
  7. It depends primarily on two things - how many people pass exam 4600 (and the BOSS exam that goes along with it) and how many Bus Operators the agency needs. Let's say for example that the TA continues to hire 200 Bus Operators per month and at least 9,600 people passed both exams (exam 4600 & the BOSS). Then, the list should be good for 4 years, since 9,600 (total # of people) divided by 200 (# of people hired per month) equals 48 (48 months, or 4 years) to finish the entire 4600 list. If at least 12,000 people pass 4600 & the BOSS, then the list will be good for 5 years, if they decide to extend it another year. Now, if only 4,800 people passed the exam, and the TA still hires 200 Bus Operators per month, then 4,800 divided by 200 equals 24 months, or 2 years. Therefore, in this case, another exam would have to be given in late 2015 or early 2016.
  8. It's okay...if BOSS was given at 180 Livingston Street, then NYC DCAS was doing the Bus Operator exams at the time (http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcas/downloads/pdf/noes/200808006000.pdf).
  9. Things were probably different when Bus Operator Olegkha was hired. Mind I ask, where did you take your BOSS exam? At 180 Livingston Street during the week or at a high school on the weekend? What happened for exam 2613 is they gave the initial civil service exam back in January. Next since NYC Transit does the exams, they gave the BOSS on a weekend in late June during Regents week, before the schools officially closed for summer vacation. If you successfully passed both of these exams, you were then mailed a letter with your score from the civil service examination and your list number in Mid-November. According to the instructors from Empire Exam Services, when DCAS was conducting the initial civil service examination, they would only give the civil service examination. As a result, a list came out. Then, when people started getting called by NYC Transit, the first thing they would do at 180 Livingston Street is take the BOSS exam before beginning the hiring process, which includes the drug test. That's why Olegkha probably said "As they will need people, they will offer BOSS based on the list number."
  10. You're welcome. This means that for exam 4600 they will start calling people from this exam once they are finished from 2613, which should be April of 2015 (my educated guess).
  11. The exam number is 2613 (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/), NOT 2316. By now, everyone who passed the initial civil service examination and the BOSS exam should have received a "Notice of Result" letter in the mail with their list number and final score from the civil service examination. It is important to note that the list only contains 3,621 people, and if NYC Transit hires close to 200 Bus Operators a month, the list will be finished in 18 months (1 & 1/2 years). Again, refer to http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/ for more details/questions, etc.
  12. My educated guess is that it would be something similar to those who are being called for Bus Operator - except you do not need the CDL licence. Refer to http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34980-bus-operator-exam-2613-questions/ for more information.
  13. I thought I just sent you a private message about this. Anyways, according to the "Candidate's Personal Record of Answers", the proposed answer key will be available on January 23rd, 2014 either at 180 Livingston Street (Lobby) or by going to http://www.mta.info/nyct/hr/proposed_answerkey.htm. Keep in mind that they had a very late make-up for exam 2613, which delayed NYC Transit releasing the proposed answer key for that exam. Hopefully that will not be the case here.
  14. I also just got back from taking the 4600 afternoon session with a Queens bus map. It was mostly reading comprehension with a few questions on a bus timetable and a few questions based on the Queens map.
  15. It will take at least a year mimimum, maybe even 1 & 1/2 years, depending how fast they go through the 2613 list. There are 3,621 people on the list and if it takes Human Resources to go through 200 people a month, then the list will be finished in 1 & 1/2 years. NYC "Transit Authority" covers all 5 boros - Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Staten Island. MaBSTOA (Manhattan and The Bronx Surface Transit Operating Agency) is only for two boroughs, respectively. MTA buses covers all 5 boros where the private bus lines used to operate (Green Bus Lines, Queens Surface, Triboro Coach, etc.).

  17. Well, you need a 70 to pass the exam, which means a minimum of 42 correct answers (since 42 divided by 60 equals 0.70, convert that to a percentage would equal 70%) to pass the exam. In order to pass the exam, you must have 18 wrong answers max. When comparing your answers to the proposed answer key online, each question is worth 1 & 2/3 points (since 100 divided by 60 = 1.67). Therefore, multiply the number of correct answers you have times 1.67 (or 1.66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666667, depending on how many decimal places your calculator can hold) to get your score. Don't forget to round to two places (eg 87.50, 91.25, etc).
  18. Important MTA Broadcast regarding the exam and the snowstorm: From Exam Administration "This is a notification to inform you that the examination for Transit Bus Operator scheduled for Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th will take place as scheduled. We do not anticipate a postponement of the exam due to the snow storm expected this weekend in New York City. Check your admission letter for the date, time and location of the school you are scheduled to report to. Be sure to allow for extra travel time due to weather related delays. We do not plan to have a make up examination. Should severe weather conditions occur you may contact the weather hot line at, 347-643-7223."
  19. Usually a few months. With 2613, they gave a make-up exam in the middle of March which delayed them releasing the answer key...
  20. In addition, I have good news for everyone! Empire Exam Services is offering a last class on Thursday, December 12th for those who are taking the exam this upcoming weekend. The class will cost $100.00 for new students and $25.00 for any returning students, providing they bring their copy of the lesson plan from the previous class. Just like before, the class will be taking place at the Christ Lutheran Center, 85-15 101st Avenue, Ozone Park, 11416. This is easily accessible via the Q8 bus or the 88th Street Station off the line. For more information, email mtanycexamclass@gmail.com.Remember, time is ticking! The instructors have over 30 years with NYC Transit!
