Took the exam on the 19th. I got my list number and exam score in the mail sometime earlier so I hope everyone is checking their Mail.

I got my list number in the top 5 for both exams 4302 and 4104 and scored 96 on the exam. I don’t know if it’s an error or what.

only issue i’m having is being 18 lbs over the BMI requirement, so Im hoping I don’t have to do medical within the next month lol.

First of all, as per the guidelines, can you please refrain from "bumping topics?" I see that you "bumped" three of them at the same time.

Second, congrats on your list number! I highly doubt that it's an error, since the agency is desperately looking for Bus Operators.

Although this is a public forum, I have a couple of questions for you:

-How much exercise are you getting on a regular basis, such as walking around your neighborhood (providing it's safe to do so)?

-How many calories, or how much food, are you taking in on a regular basis?

Eighteen pounds is not a lot, and, if you start making some changes, hopefully, by the time you report to 180 Livingston Street, you will meet the BMI requirement!

    Good luck!

Hey guys. I have my CDL A PERMIT only. I have air brakes, tank, double triple, and passenger. I didn’t have the job at in mind first when I went to the DMV to take these endorsement exams as I just simply wanted to do regional or an OTR job but I changed my mind as it looks like I’m not gonna make more than 75k with how the way things have been in the trucking industry coupled with not having a pension or adequate enough benefits. If I don’t get my CDL license before I get called by transit do I have to do something special like go to the DMV and downgrade to CDL B? Do I have to re take any DMV tests? My permit expires in April next year anyway so that’s not an issue at the moment I’m just trying to figure out what my next course of action would be if I get an email to appear for employment process and I don’t have my license by then because I don’t want an unnecessary delay.

You should not have downgrade to a Class B CLP (Commercial Learner Permit). Your Class A CLP should suffice. Just note that, if you make through the hiring process, which includes the 10-Day Training Session and the road test, you will then be downgraded to a Class B CDL (Commercial Drivers License). You will loose the double-triple endorsement since those that hold the Class A CDL are eligible to hold that particular endorsement.

As far as retaking any tests, depending on how fast they call you and how successful you are at 180 Livingston Street, if you don't have your CDL by next April, then you will have to retake the multiple-choice exams at the DMV, which at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes, and Passenger Endorsement. Otherwise, you should be good to go.

    Good luck!!

  3. My apologies for "bumping" this thread, however I just want to share this video with you folks that I just found on YouTube. Now I understand 100% that a Tractor Trailer and a Bus are two different Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV), however one of the things I found in common between the video in the prior post and this one is the word-to-word script that they want you to memorize, use and be very familiar with. And for those of you who decide to get your Commercial Driver License (CDL) through a local driving school, I would not be surprised if you have to do something very similar to what is shown in the first half of this video, since the local driving schools primarily use former yellow school buses.

(Note that this contains the most, up-to-date PreTrip Inspection. Notice how the word-to-word script is different than the older videos, respectively.)

    Good luck!!

I have a question. I read the Notice of Examination and I read where it said cell phones and smartwatches are prohibited at the testing site. Does that mean you can’t bring them to 180 Livingston St at all or are they talking about not using them at the test site.

When you arrive to the testing room on the fourth floor, they will instruct the candidates to put your cell phones and smartwatches away, out of sight and to turn them either on silent mode or off. One time during the winter months, I was taking an exam, in which my phone was on my belt holder, which was covered by a sweatshirt. Since the phone was out of sight the entire time, in addition to being on "silent," nobody said anything to me.

Random list numbers were when they issued the BOSS. I believe those days are over.

I agree 100%, those days are over.

If it’s not random list numbers then I hope they call quick. I think I only got one of the questions wrong on the memory portion. I had to really think, and forced myself to make up any answer because my head was pounding from thinking so hard and I was still in the beginning of the exam. I really don’t know how anybody can get less than 90% on these exams. It reminds me of the exams I took in the 2nd grade for fun.

One of the things which I would do to help me with the memorization portion is I would be sneaky and take a single headache pill (Tylenol) right before they distributed the memory books. This would help me dramatically, and, as a result, I also got one wrong on Exam # 2613 and Exam # 2614 as well. Whether the incorrect question was from the memory portion or the remainder of the exam, this I do not recall.

    Good luck!!

Starting to really think maybe this job is not meant for me. Every step of the way since February has been nothing but problems. From going for sleep study for sleep apnea, getting taken off the list. Clearing medical hold, back on the list. 2 drug tests, 2 medicals. Passed medical last week only to be told by the jackass doctor that i was short 1 day on my cpap machine and should use it a few more days and go in for yesterday only to have the company that does the report for the cpap machine service has been down since last wednesday (same day as medical) and i couldn't get the report to take to 180 yesterday and no one knows when the service will be back up. Starting to feel like the juice ain't worth the squeeze no more.

Have you considered complaining about this? If so, send me a Private Message (PM) and we will take it from there...

Hello guys I went 180 Livingston today for a preemployment drug test . When I got home I checked the receipt they gave me to take home, I realized I put down the wrong email address. Does anyone have any advise on what I can do to get this resolved?

    First, welcome to the Forums!

Second, since they contact you by phone as well, I would wait until they reach out to you for the next steps in the hiring process. Once they do so, then you should be able to correct this.

    Good luck!!

Ah ok so I have 7 points on my license. Do you think I’ll still be able to get the job or would I have to wait for some points to fall off my license

    7 hours ago, DEE123 said:

I don’t know how the process works. If I were in a situation like that I would go to the DMV and talk to them, ask what date the points on your license expire and if there are any ways to get the points taken off your record. I recommend taking the exam anyway and filing for the upcoming NYCT B/O exam.

You have to wait until the points fall off. From the perspective of NYC Transit's Human Resources Department, those famous "Defensive Driving Classes" are useless. Sorry.

As a suggestion, have you considered running off your abstract? From prior experience, if you run off your standard driving record, you will see what is on your record. Just note that they only look back at your abstract for the past three [3] years.

I would also recommend filing for the upcoming NYC Transit Bus Operator exams as well, starting in September. What's good about those is that it falls under the heading of "Civil Service," which means that you can restore your name to the list a maximum of three [3] times, and those lists are active for a minimum of four [4] calendar years.

    Good luck!!

Yes Please delete 🙏 Thank you @Jericho @+Young+

Done! Just make sure you hide the last two digits. As a friendly reminder, with the fact that this particular list contains approximately 11,300 names, if your list number is:

-15,123 - you can represent this as 15,1**

-12,489 - you can represent this as 12,4**

    Good luck everyone!!

I’m 25 lbs away from having the BMI requirements. If they call me for medical before I lose the weight can I come back at a different day? Or do I have to do the sleep apnea stuff afterwards regardless of what my weight is by the time I get a call back?

I don't think you will be able to go a different day, which means you'll probably have to do all of the sleep apnea stuff.

    Sorry...

Thanks a lot just read this. She'll be studying it tomorrow. I appreciate it

You're welcome. Just note that they are now using the New Flyer buses and not the Orion buses, however a good majority of the material and videos apply to either type of bus.

Correct exam 2613 list in top 10. She reports to zerega july 30th.  Today was her medical. Good luck guys thanks for all the help.

You're most welcome! Offhand, has she looked at the handouts to help her with the 10-day Training Session? Just a suggestion, that's all.

Also, as an FYI, the list for Exam 2614 has been published as of yesterday, July 12th, 2023, with 396 candidates.

    Good luck everyone!!

We basically have it on the Jersey side (NJT) on the newer MCIs (that I drive at least)

Even when I was working for a Coach Bus Company in 2021, the newest Coach Buses (I forgot the make) had cameras for backing up and turning, in addition to the standard mirrors. If I recall correctly, there was one screen and, if the directional signal was on or in reverse, the appropriate camera would show, respectively.

I don’t see how the overtime is going to go away especially MaBSTOA and bus company...If the overtime goes away does that mean that they’re going to hire more people than necessary and start doing layoffs?

Although I am not an employee of the agency, from looking at the current exam schedule, in addition to the job descriptions for the Bus Operator positions for MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Company, between the four [4] Civil Service Examinations which will be open for filing later this year, and the fact that the Bus Operator positions are open "until filled," it seems to me that the overtime will not be going away any time soon, in which they will need as much manpower as much as possible.

I don't know if you folks are aware of this, however, starting next month, you know that the 2 & 1/2 hour road test in order to obtain a CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is going to get harder, right? If not, click here and here for more information. Therefore, unless @yungfeenxm23 is correct in his prior post, which you can see below, the overtime is not going to go away anytime soon.

This is my two cents, however that's just me.

Depots with more routes tend to have more overtime as of now….. word is that’s changing soon.

New to the forum.  I went to pre-screening on 6/20 but my cdl permit was expired.  I was instructed to contact them when the problem was resolved. I regained my permit 6/29 and reached out by voice mail and email.  Question is; Did I blow this opportunity??

First of all, welcome to the Forums!

Second, to answer your question: No. If you have trouble contacting them, for whatever reason, you can restore your name to the list up to three [3] times. For more information on this, refer to the instructions towards the bottom of the blue announcement box at the top of the webpage, starting with the phrase "For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list..."

    Good luck!!
