  1. Wow they look absolutely amazing! Is there a way to make them passenger enabled though?
  2. Nah, I didn't say anything. I just gave her a dirty look and took a seat in the back. I was surprised that she actually stopped also.
  3. Something sort of like that happened to me on the M15 select. I was going northbound, getting on either at 23rd, and the bus is already there with the doors open and the light just turned red. I take my time getting a ticket, and then the doors close while the light's still red, so I go to the front and tap on the door. She turns, gives me a "wtf?" look, the light turns green, and she starts to slowly accelerate. I start walking with the bus and tap harder on the door, but she keeps accelerating. I scream out "YO!" loudly, making everyone on the street turn around, and then a nice hard hit to the side window did the trick and she stopped and let me on. There was traffic up ahead and if she didn't stop I could've out ran her to 28th or wherever that next stop and I definitely would've ran my mouth at her.
  4. Subway Shuttles M73: Westbound: 79th Street / East End 79th Street / York Ave 79th Street / 1st Ave 79th Street / Lexington Ave -- Nonstop -- 72nd Street / Amsterdam Ave Eastbound: Amsterdam Ave / 72nd Street -- Nonstop -- 79th Street / Lexington Ave 79th Street / 2nd Ave 79th Street / 1st Ave 79th Street / York Ave 80th Street / East End ---------- M74: Westbound: 86th Street / East End York Ave / 86th Street 86th Street / 1st Ave -- Nonstop -- 72nd Street / Amsterdam Ave Eastbound: Amsterdam Ave / 72nd Street -- Nonstop -- 86th Street / Lexington Ave 86th Street / 2nd Ave 86th Street / 1st Ave 86th Street / York Ave 86th Street / East End ---------- The purpose is to provide residents near East 79th Street and East 86th Street quick access to the trains rather than to have to take the slow crosstown bus to the and then transfer further down or stick with the local the entire way. It will quicken commutes by up to 15 minutes. They run rush hour only. Peak direction: Every 5 minutes Reverse peak direction: Every 10 minutes
  5. Restructured M30 Basically the trips towards the Upper East Side will be much faster by avoiding all the Midtown traffic and going through the park. The East Drive between 59th/6th and 72nd/5th are open every weekday from 7AM to 7PM. Any buses later than that will take 57th to Madison and then make a right turn on 72nd. It will also help riders along York Avenue because of the ridiculously unreliable and infrequent M31.
  6. Well you seem to be blaming the MTA in your post by saying how they make you late. I usually leave so that I get down there 5 minutes early with delays. And I end up usually getting there 5 minutes early, and without delays I make it down 15-20 minutes early. Also in school latenesses do matter... A LOT. In my freshman year of high school I remember that 3 latenesses to gym (or 1 absence) without a proper excuse was automatic failure. Also (I'm not sure whether you're in high school or college, but) good colleges will definitely take note of excessive latenesses.
  7. ... Leave earlier then and stop complaining about something that you can easily prevent.
  8. I believe that it's called the train and will get you there 3x faster than a bus.
  9. Updated map: http://scaped.net/mta/colab.pdf Additions: - M200 - My version of the X90 - X92 I'm not sure if I'll have time to continue editing the map but if I have free time I certainly will.
  10. That's basically the M4 going Southbound and the M5/M10 going Northbound.
  11. I've been a little busy lately, but I'm about half way done adding in the M200 and then the Q105 will follow. (Off topic: but isn't Q105 the name of a radio station? B)) I should have the updated map in a couple of days. I might as well also add in my ideas for the X90/X92, except I'll keep them as they should be, express buses. Nobody from the Upper East Side who's heading downtown says "$3.25 more? I'd rather get accidentally molested by random strangers on the 6 train." (It really can feel like that at times...) And my idea for the ideal X90/X92 set up would be: http://scaped.net/mta/g_own.pdf. Basically the X92 makes all the stops on Water and Pearl Streets and ends at Battery Place while the X90 stays on the FDR Drive to bypass there and go straight to West Street and the World Financial Center. Using that set up would make a trip to/from the World Financial Center take around 30 minutes while leaving Wall Street unaffected.
  12. Why not just label one the M90 and the other the M92? Also no real point in sending the M92A around to the World Financial Center if the M92B is already there. Everyone heading to/from there would just take the M92B. Also I've always wondered why the MTA had the pre-9/11 X90 go through those local streets instead of taking the FDR straight on to West Street and heading up from there. It would've definitely shaved a good 10 minutes off the ride.
  13. Thanks! And downtown it would follow the pre-2001 X90 route (the former X25 route), correct?
  14. How exactly was the route of the old X90? I could never find any information on it. Did it cut over to the FDR on 23rd or follow the BxM18's route?
  15. RTS CNG Command, I just opened up your map in Inkscape and it was so weird. I see the regular map as it appears on the MTA's website with all the routes and stuff like bus lines, including the X90, and subways except without text. Do you use some layering thing in Illustrator or whatever you use?
  16. Holy s*** I never knew that there's a such thing as 13th Avenue in Manhattan!! Except looking at it in Google Maps it's a sanitation depot... Go to http://www.mta.info/maps/, right click the map you want, select "Save link as," and then upload it in Inkscape.
  17. Map updated: http://scaped.net/mta/colab.pdf Added: - M54 - M81 Working on now: - M200 - Q105 - X52 - X53 On hold: - BxM5 - BxM8 - BxM15 - M17 Not going to add: - M12 SBS (Basically an SBS version of the M11?) - M90 SBS (All hell will break loose if I do) I'm putting the express bus routes on hold for now to make room for regular routes (the X52/X53 are exceptions because they're almost exactly the same as the X82/X83 in Manhattan). Also, the M17 seems to be quite similar to the M81 so to reduce redundancy I might not add it.
  18. Just making a small list of reminders for myself: M54 & M81 - http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=478381&postcount=247 BxM5, BxM8, BxM15 - http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=478562&postcount=250 M17 - http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=478671&postcount=251 M200 & Q105 - http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=478737&postcount=257 And sorry, not going to include the NM88. I highly doubt that anyone who lives in Manhattan would want to take a bus out all the way to Jones Beach, while making a stop at JFK. Just a little bit "too" far fetched, plus that's Nassau County, right? I'll be updating the map slowly, but note that they probably won't be added in the order posted because some are just much easier to draw on than the others. B)
  19. Oh wow I misread that and didn't read the "Turns on Park Avenue/Park Avenue South" part. Yeah never mind what I said about that then.
  20. Interesting ideas, but for your BxM15 the downtown part can't use Broadway because of the pedestrian plaza near 34th Street. Also some of those routes will surely hit a lot of traffic and could take close to an hour in Manhattan alone.
  21. Updated map: http://scaped.net/mta/colab.pdf Additions: M62, B39, B90 For the M62 I had to adjust the northbound segment a bit because buses aren't allowed on the FDR north of 23rd Street, so it'll take the service road, cut over to 1st Avenue, and then continue from there. Working on adding in: M54, M81
  22. Yeah, just keep right clicking and hit enter group until you can select the individual ones.

  23. Well all I really did was practice and mess around with it until I got the hang of it. What you should do is get a good editing program, such as Inkscape and download the bus map from the MTA's website. Then open it up, delete all the bus routes already on the map, then just use the drawing line tool to draw new lines, change the width and color, and that's pretty much it. For the other stuff such as route numbers and terminals, I just copied them from the original map.

  24. I don't really want to put present day routes on the map that just have a few small reroutes. I like the B39 idea though, I'll add it in when I get time.
  25. Map updated: http://scaped.net/mta/colab.pdf Added the B41 by Cotb16 (page 2) from Rockaway Park to Union Square. Exact street directions weren't given so I just thought of a logical routing. Anyone else have routes they want added?
