  1. I've had multiple experiences where a worker was picked up from a station on the , and then the T/O would key the door open for the worker to go in one of the rooms near the 111 Street area.
  2. 7811-7898 were ordered because of CBTC. The requires more cars than the , therefore a full trade will still result in the having the same amount of cars as they did before. The purpose of having CBTC in the first place was for better and increased service. Well, you can't have increased service without an increased amount of trains. More R142A coming to the will mean less trains for the or perhaps any other line, which will cause a shortage Therefore, they had to order eight new sets. They will also be stored in the Hudson Yards, since Corona might not have enough space. The eight sets were not just made for the extension. As for R142A's heading to the there was an actual set that came to the recently, and has already gotten new strip maps. It might be some sort of swap as Lance states, so we just have to wait and see. It might not be complete bullsh*t but it can be false to an extent. Although this swap nonsense/rumors are spreading, the real way to know is to wait and see.
  3. I'm getting information (again NOT ACCURATE, I'm not saying that I KNOW of it, as I'm clearly saying that I HEARD OF IT before any accusations start) from people that I know SHOULD NOT be trusted. I only share it for a confirmation. And I won't be afraid to release who the people are. Let me clear this up: I WILL NOT RELEASE THE NAMES HERE, I WILL IF IT DOES HAVE AN IMPACT ON ME. - One person has told me they got notified by a motorman that works the that he laid up R142s 6661-6670 one day. Again, have no clue if this is true or false. - Another person is stating that the R142A's will be going to the and that westchester HATES R62A because they are lazy & don't want to change signs. That comes to the statement by another person that R142 from the will be going to the and that R62A will be heading to the 7th Ave Line. - Another person states that all R142A will be converted for fleet compatibility. Again, I highly doubt it was true although he did seem like a worker. That is why I didn't share it until now. - They are also stating that an R62 from the was once on the . ONCE AGAIN, I AM NOT THE ONE WHO IS MAKING THIS UP, I AM THE ONE WHO IS SHARING THIS TO GET FURTHER INFORMATION ON WHETHER THIS IS RELEVANT OR IRRELEVANT INFORMATION I WILL BE SHARING THEIR NAMES (in which I really don't want to) IF I POSSIBLY GET INVOLVED OR ACCUSED FOR FALSE INFO
  4. I heard that there was an R142 set on the earlier this month, 6661-6670. And the story I've been hearing is.... R142A to ,R62A to ,R142 to ,R62 to
  5. You mean 7227? SAM_0120 by r188_7857, on Flickr BTW Corona does a really good job taking care of the trains. All they're missing is some Goo-Gone to remove the adhesive marks left by slap tags. I gave this vandal report on FB, but I guess I'll give it here as well: Vandalism Report: Trains with no vandalism ever spotted: 7844-7854 7860-7870 7877-7887 Detailed report: R188 7811-7821: Within the first 30 days, scratchiti on 7818. Can not confirm if it has been removed or not. R188 7822-7832: Sharpie tag on the logo of 7832: Has since been removed. Sticker tag on 7823 (?). Not removed. R188 BLUR (7833-7843): Sharpie tag(s) on 7839, 7834. Should have been removed. Dry sticker marks on 7834, and an unknown car. Tag on cab door of 7843, that says "BLUR" and looks as if they tried removing it but failed. PICTURE- TAG LOCATED IN BOTTOM RIGHT SAM_0195 by r188_7857, on Flickr R188 7844-7854: Clean! R188 7855-7859, 7871-7876: Sticker tag on 7856. It was recent, but I'm not sure if it has been removed yet. R188 7860-7870: Clean! R188 7877-7887: Clean R188 7888-7898: Half peeled sticker tag on 7894. Also sticker tag on 7896. It seems as if stickers are giving most of the troubles. Sharpies always get removed... But they need GOO GONE!
  6. What? I saw a random 5 car set of R188 in the yard the other day, although I didn't see the numbers it looked to be 7877, it was definitely not a conversion because there was no brown roof (steel dust).
  7. Yesterday, I was waiting for the Q28 at the first stop on the corner of Union Street where the Q13 and Q16 are, and there was a training bus #4505 from LGA.. It was making a turn and got into an accident, in which it then caused a 5 minute delay for my bus (which couldn't get into the stop due to a driver who couldn't move 2 cm to the right..... )Anyways I overheard the B/O saying that it got hit on the side by a car or something, and one thing I noticed is that the bus turned right on the left lane, in which usually buses turn right thru the right lane, and that confused me.
  8. Yesterday I had one of the best operators I've had on the in a long time. Took him 1-2 mins to get through the 60th Street Tunnel. Sick ride! Saw 1996 yesterday and can confirm that it has an RFW manhattan bound.
  9. Yup, I saw that set again today as well. As for the example, it was an example. But yeah, that's the correct numbers for that set, plus I think it's the only one out there w/ an RFW.
  10. It should have been a 6 car set. 7887 is lead car of flushing bound, and the set is 7887-7882.
  11. Some do, but it's very rare to catch them. But from what I can say, 90-95% of them have been converted to full-width cab, so they can head over to the .
  12. They are coupled: 5 car set - a single car- another 5 car set For example, 1711-1715, 1915, 2081-2085 (also known as the Seinfeld set, which should be unwrapped by now) But in that case, it was something like: 17xx-17xx, 19xx,19xx,19xx,19xx,19xx,1960 You know they are singles when the numbers don't match up with the car either before/after it (or both).
  13. I was at the Skyview Center today.. and I saw that set. Here's some updates on RFW business: -One week ago today, #2116 was facing Manhattan bound, and I managed to get an exp RFW. If you haven't seen the video, here is the video: As of today, they have re-coupled that set, and #2116 is now coupled to the single car between the two 5 car sets. I did not take note of 2120, if it had an RFW or not. -The car with #1960 has the old way of coupling. The 5 car set to Manhattan, and then 6 singles. I assume that it would be changed soon, though. -What I've been told and seen is that #1996 Manhattan bound has an RFW, I don't know if anyone can confirm this, but it should have an RFW. Some R188 business: -Something is spreading around that the R142A conversion sets aren't able to run due to third rail problems. I highly doubt this is true, and if it is I would like confirmation from someone from the . -They have finally fixed the blacked out signs on R188 set 7844-7854, and I'm glad they did. -I haven't been seeing 7833-7843 (set with a lot of vandalism) out yet. Maybe they're cleaning it up.... R62A business: -People are saying that Pelham Bay Park, Parkchester, and Upper East Side people are complaining a lot about them... The bronx section complaining about incorrect rollsigns, and the people on the UES just straight up saying they "deserve new trains." Just to give my two cents..... The people from the UES need to f*** off if that's their complaint. Just because you're wealthy doesn't mean you get what you want. The people from Pelham Bay/Parkchester I understand, because it can be rather confusing w/ those rollsigns. But on the UES, you realize that westchester would rather take care of R62A (again probably a rumor), and that if you do get your NTT's than they'd probably be in the worst condition ever. -Someone has also said that an R142 set is on the ..... -76xx sets from the are going to the . I think there would be a lot of action on the IRT in the near future...(and by that I mean in the next few months)
  14. Speaking of R142A and the ... The folks at Westchester take off one of the metal bars of the advertisement frames, to their own ease of taking them out. I'm wondering if they put it back on during conversion... because from what I know the advertisement frames on the R188 (78xx/79xx) are like a door, they swing open. (One difference....) Just saying... if they can change the lights of R160 8687-8683 (somewhere near that, it might even be a different 5 car set for all I know) into a newer blue lighting, I think they can change the lights on the conversions... The 142A on the are vandalized so much.. and I hope they clean some of it off because I don't want that garbage on the , even R62A's have less vandalism and have a better looking interior than some of the R142A....
  15. I have only noticed that on one set.. 7844-7854. The black LCD signs are a consistent problem on that set, and they actually still run it. That set is run wayyy too much in my opinion... They didn't even bother fixing the problems on that set yet. The problems on that set have been occurring for over a week. I don't get why they still run that set like every day..... On other sets (it rarely happens on other sets), the problems usually get fixed within a day or two.
  16. Just gonna say, the foam will be real if they put 2 5 car sets together and run it on the .... (only if it's possible I have no clue)
  17. I understand that, I was just stating an observation. Thats true. You see 7833-7843? That set has been pounded with vandalism. Observations on that set: -(cleaned) a tag on 7839 exterior -still there- dry, brown, rectangular sticker marks that are found a lot on trains. it is on the side of the doors of one car, and on the logo of another. -sharpie tag on top of MTA logo on 7834. And very recently, 7856 has suffered vandalism (of course one car away from 7857...) it got tagged on the NYC subway logo with a sticker, its still white....... That set (7855-7859) has also accumulated some steel dust on it. I remember 7832 having some vandalism on it... it's long gone though. This is so darn similar to the targeting of the R62A's when they were new... they're targeting R188's. Within the 30-day test of 7811-7821, nearing the end, I recall seeing 7818 with scratchiti.
  18. Most of the time they don't like running them except on weekends.... You see 4 R188's in the AM rush but mid-day there's only one or two.
  19. Oh..... I thought he meant interior lights.. Thanks!
  20. So that means that the R179 will have similar lights to the R160's? That means that they will be dimmer than the ones on the new R188's right?
  21. 7888-7898 has been in service since Saturday... (with no ads, just subway map) so it isn't really a big deal anymore.
  22. R142A 7241..... what it was three years ago: (my photo) http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/gallery/image/301-r142a-cab/
