Rutgers Tube Posted February 23, 2010 Share #106 Posted February 23, 2010 Where is the only built part of the cancelled Queens Boulevard expressway? Virtually nothing. The express lanes of Queens Boulevard near Woodhaven Boulevard and the LIE were depressed, and the local lanes were kept at grade level.

NX Express Posted March 4, 2010 Share #119 Posted March 4, 2010 Why was the Sheepshead Bay built?
Rutgers Tube Posted March 4, 2010 Share #120 Posted March 4, 2010 Why was the Sheepshead Bay built? From what the old-timers down there have told me, the Coney Island Creek was supposed to be widened and turned into a canal large enough for boats to safely pass through. However a stretch of the creek was filled in when the Belt Parkway was constructed, and the western end north between the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood and Manhattan Beach was deepened and widened for boats. A lot of charter tours dock along Emmons Avenue.
