Rutgers Tube Posted May 27, 2010 Share #131 Posted May 27, 2010 Fairly easy one: What was the last original New York Central equipment that Metro-North used in daily services, what year were these cars retired and what train class replaced them. Rutgers Tube Posted June 3, 2010 Share #132 Posted June 3, 2010 It's been a week on this one: anyone with a guess? Hints needed? I'd hate to see this thread go to waste.
gregorygrice Posted June 3, 2010 Share #133 Posted June 3, 2010 Was it the EMD E8?
Rutgers Tube Posted June 4, 2010 Share #134 Posted June 4, 2010 Was it the EMD E8? Nope, and here are a pair of hints: a) This equipment could be operated from either end of a single car, a true MU. B) The lack of a safety feature adopted after entering service led to restrictions from being operated north of North White Plains.
Joe Posted June 4, 2010 Share #135 Posted June 4, 2010 Sounds like ACMUs, as to when they were taken OOS, i'd guess they were retired in 2004 or 2005? No idea really...
gregorygrice Posted June 4, 2010 Share #136 Posted June 4, 2010 Are you sure it's not the RDC SPV-2000s?

You can take this one, Joe. The ACMU 1100's, built by Pullman-Standard in 1956, were finally retired in 2004 when the M7A's were entered into revenue service on the Harlem and Hudson lines. jaekidd1012 Posted July 16, 2011 Share #143 Posted July 16, 2011 Name all the stops on the Lower Montauk branch from LIC to Jamaica and as a bonus name the location of the 2 grade crossings in Queens (one is not a through street but cars do cross it) Been reading this thread but most of the questions were over my head. Anyway, there is another grade crossing in Queens on the Port Washington branch just west of the Little Neck station at Little Neck Pkwy.
