Police investigate suspicious vehicle (WABC)

Police are investigating a suspicious vehicle causing some concerns in the Union Square area.

The vehicle is parked near the intersection of 15th Street and Irving Place.

NYPD received a call at 10:17 p.m. about the vehicle.

Buildings and streets in the area are being evacuated.

The vehicle is sitting right in front of 4 Irving Place, which is Con Edison Headquarters. The car is on Irving Place just north of 14th Street.

The bomb squad has been called in to check it out.

People are observant and vigilant in light of the failed bombing at Times Square

It was a "sketchy 1991 Olds Cutlass Ciera". This guy should have kept his gas cans in his trunk so nobody could see them. Good luck trying to get reimbursed from the city to replace your blown out windows.

This hipster was at a concert. ""They stopped in the middle of the song and said, 'Does anyone have a 1991 Cutlass?"

Paranoia. If you see something but you thing it's nothing, say something anyway. That or, if it's not an American flag, it must be a bomb.

It's natural. We just came out of the Times Square thing. For the next couple of months, there will be this elevated sense of paranoia and everything.

What is so suspicious about the car? Maybe just a light forgot to be turned off, people gotta look more closely on stuff, the bomb team like showed up too easily and sometimes people worry too much, it is just funny that they are called in so often now, just like geek squad and IT people, :(...

Well, it's better to be safe than sorry;)

Well look, we just witnessed an event that would have become the death of hundreds at Times Square two weeks ago. There will be folks that would be easily agitated when they see something that is abnormal.

It's not funny. If you were part of the bomb squad, you wouldn't think this would be funny. You have some overly paranoid folks call the cops who then reported to the HQ, and the HQ sends you out only to find that it's not a bomb. You think you want to be send out that often? Plus you have to get all that equipment out and then rush in the given time, only to find it's not a bomb. It's simply not funny.
