Bus Guy Posted May 19, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 19, 2010 Hey, I'm currently working on my own fantasy map off this template: http://images.nycsubway.org/maps/yourmap.gif Any ideas for lines I should put include? I have the 63rd ave line, SAS, some of the 1929 and 1939 plans which I found on Wikipedia, the old culver shuttle and a few lines of my own creation. Also i'm thinking of bringing back some of the el system(IRT and BMT) to how it looked on this map: http://www.nycsubway.org/perl/caption.pl?/img/maps/system_1939.jpg
GojiMet86 Posted May 19, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 19, 2010 Maybe Triboro RX. If you're going to include SIRT (Staten Island), you might want to include the North Shore, and maybe a New Jersey extension.

I do have a new jersey line off 42nd st as I would turn that into a trunk as well as an extension to St. George....only thing is the template only covers part of Staten Island so the SIRT would have the North shore as well as a few other lines. Also what is the Triboro RX?

GojiMet86 Posted May 19, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 19, 2010 Triboro RX: http://transit.frumin.net/trx/TriboroRX If you think the line is useless, you can have other trains cover the line. Maybe the L train is extended to Bay Ridge.
Bus Guy Posted May 19, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted May 19, 2010 thats a good Idea bringing back old lines Only thing is the number is limited....3rd and 5th els in brooklyn get canceled out by the 4th ave subway, fulton el by fulton subway, myrtle el (lower part) by myrtle ave subway (line i made) and no one really wants els in manhattan. But I did bring back the old 3rd ave shuttle built into the SAS. Another thing I might do is bring back the RJ QJ 70(QB) QT lines with 70(QB) and QT bringing back Nassau st loop service. Triboro RX:http://transit.frumin.net/trx/TriboroRX If you think the line is useless, you can have other trains cover the line. Maybe the L train is extended to Bay Ridge. It could work....and it ties in with my (M2) extension to Queens Blvd via the ROW and the Long Island Expy

Bus Guy Posted May 20, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted May 20, 2010 good Idea for the old lines to come back (AKA (NX)70(QB)70(RR)) Only thing is people would get confused with and 70(RR). Also I have 24 routes with 4 each on: 8th ave, 6th ave, 2nd ave, Broadway, Nassau, and Crosstowns as well as the but I want all my trunks to have 6 lines so a few double letters will make a comeback....only thing is it's easier said then done. Be creative. Why do we need to build a system that is 70 years old for a 21st century city?

Bus Guy Posted May 20, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted May 20, 2010 Why does Crosstown need 4 lines? The 1929 and 1939 plans had new lines and adding them to the crosstown was the easier way to add them. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d9/1929_IND_Second_System.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b3/1939_IND_Second_System.jpg For some reason I see the subway from an IND want to take over point of view. Also are the any other good programs to make a map besides MS Paint?

Yeah but 2nd Av was developed back then as it is today. Queens was mostly farm land back then. Don't get defensive, get creative.

Well ones view of a subway system is different then anothers...... I do have 80% of it done minus 90% of the stations and labels. As for a fleet for my system it would be the current fleet (and full R32 and R38 with roll signs!!!) with a few modern remakes of the R16/R27/R30 and redbirds.
