Police chase ends in death after man hit by E train near World Trade Center: NYPD

A police chase ended in gruesome death early Thursday when a young man running from cops was run over by a train at a lower Manhattan subway station, officials said.

The dead man was fleeing police after he committed a knifepoint robbery on Reade St. St. at 1:40 a.m., according to cops and transit officials.

The suspect held up a 32-year-old man and ran off with cash, but the victim followed him and called 911, police said.

One under, Central.

I agree with every post above and

The suspect then tried to hop onto a moving E train that was just leaving, police said. Investigators believe Feeley slipped as he tried to leap into the space between cars - and fell under the train.

I believe there's something there that prevents you from actually making it

Feeley died at New York Downtown Hospital a short time later, officials said.

And he did not get decapitated by the wheels how? Did he get dragged along the tracks or something? Did they f**king piece his remains together somehow and resuscitate him for 30 seconds?

People don't die instantly very often. The human body is more resilient than you might think. Short of completely crushing the brain or the heart, or decapitation, anything is possible. It's possible he was simply crushed, bashed in really good and bent, or dismembered somewhere else. Some people have even survived 12-9's where they were struck, others where they were run over.

Needless to say the odds aren't good on it though.

When people get hit by trains, they do usually die instantly or very soon after. In this case though, the train severed an artery and the perp bleed out in the hospital.

Soon after yes, but instantly no, unless their brain or heart has been crushed, or either has become dislodged/disconnected from the rest of the body.

However by the time first responders get there it's often already too late. May be semantics on my part but the poster was making it sound like he expected all of them to be instant kills as in by the time the second truck passed over the body the guy was already actually pronounceable dead.
