TrainFanatic Posted October 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 8, 2010 The Russians are coming to reality TV. “Brighton Beach,” an in-depth exploration of the personal dramas of Russian-Americans in Brooklyn whose gestation we documented in March, has been picked up by the Lifetime network. While “Brighton Beach” was conceived as sort of a “Jersey Shore” for the vodka-and-borscht set, the Lifetime version will be suitably feminized, said Michael Feeney, a spokesman for the network. “It’s a multigenerational women’s story about life in the community,” Mr. Feeney said. “It’s about their dating life, their work life, their relationships together and their external relationships. It characterizes a community; it’s not a bunch of people put in a house. It’s done in the Lifetime voice, not in the MTV voice.” The deal, reported today by the Hollywood Reporter, entails 12 episodes, to be shown next year. Mr. Feeney said the producers were currently casting for families. Roadcruiser1 Posted October 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 8, 2010 It always makes me think that Hollywood is starting to run out of subjects and books for movies and shows and now they are using locations and reality. I wonder what would happen if they run out of reality.

SubwayGuy Posted October 8, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 8, 2010 stupid. Reality TV is mind rot shit. Turn off the TV and live YOUR life instead of watching someone else's. Maybe then producers will get the message. They love reality TV because it costs peanuts to produce since all you have to do is have an open "audition" and a bunch of losers will pay their own expenses to "try out" for a chance to get paid pennies on the dollar for a show that brings in millions in advertising revenues. Why pay actors when you can use no talent hacks? Especially if the point is to cast the stupidest jerks. I got a reality show. Drag the TV producers of the major networks out in front of a firing squad and kill 'em all. Firing squad. Call it "the shotgun channel". Quality entertainment. And a cursory lesson in firearm safety for Junior.
Cait Sith Posted October 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 8, 2010 I was told about this months before it hit the news from a good friend of mine. They had this planned since Winter but it was never official until now. This is going to be super weird.
