Y2Julio Posted December 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2010 Are there any track maps online available for the LIRR? I'm mostly interested in the Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica Station areas.

Joel Up Front Posted December 6, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 6, 2010 That LIRR map is ****ing diesel. Even at 500% zoom the station names are barely visible. I also noticed Mr. Green's map is missing Staten Island. Ha!

Bus Guy Posted December 7, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 7, 2010 The maps come up pretty good in chrome 8.0 with its built in pdf reader
Amtrak7 Posted December 7, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 7, 2010 The maps are large - they were drawn by tracing satellite images. Do not attempt to open them in browser windows. I find 800 or 1200 percent zoom the best for reading.
Joel Up Front Posted December 9, 2010 Share #11 Posted December 9, 2010 3 GB of RAM, Dual-Core AMD Processor (rated at 2.2 GHz)... Well, it was only for $439...
Amtrak7 Posted December 9, 2010 Share #12 Posted December 9, 2010 3 GB of RAM, Dual-Core AMD Processor (rated at 2.2 GHz)... Well, it was only for $439... That should definitely open the map. Open it in Acrobat, wait for it to render, zoom in, wait again, and repeat. The closer you go, the faster the rendering gets. Don't attempt dragging until you have it zoomed in sufficiently to see where you are. At 800%, dragging should be easy.
