Subway Alert: Sheepshead Bay Station

Broadway Local

Recommended Posts

Due to an ongoing temporary loss of power/rail condition at the Sheepshead Bay Station:

There is no (:o train service between the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station and the 145th Street Station in both directions at this time.

Uptown (Q) trains are running on the (D) line between the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station and the Dekalb Avenue Station.

I was railfanning this area today. There was a smoke condition followed by a fire. According to a T/O on the (:o, the power was cut before the fire. Then they sent (B) and (Q) trains express to CI and then sent them via West End. (Pics and videos coming)

This outage really hurt the Brighton riders. Service had just been restored not too long before the power and subsequent track problem shut B service right back down for the day. Then shortly after Q trains ran regular but with delays, D trains were once again turned at Bay Parkway for some time.

On a slightly off topic note, service on the N via Sea Beach is still shut down totally. The handling of some incidents plus close to 1000 buses getting stalled on non plowed streets is a disgrace and reflects really poorly on the MTA and the city agencies responsible for managing weather related incidents.
