Gorgor Posted October 27, 2012 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2012 Since the M15 SBS is diverted from 1st Avenue north of 59th Street, how will fare payment work? Will it be free boarding, or are there still fare boxes on these buses and will people will have to dip their metrocards? Also, where will the stops be? Corresponding locations or just using M101 LTD stops? There's no way that a bus can stop anywhere near 57th Street (M101 LTD uses 60th Street), and at some places, such as 86th Street, the M101/M102/M103 stop is on the nearside whereas the express buses are at the far side. Quill Depot Posted October 27, 2012 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2012 It would have to be with LTD stops and on-board fare payment. I'm not really sure if there are fare-boxes.
Amtrak7 Posted October 27, 2012 Share #3 Posted October 27, 2012 There have to be fare boxes as cash SBS passengers must ask driver for transfers.
FamousNYLover Posted October 27, 2012 Share #4 Posted October 27, 2012 Last Marathon, M15 SBS was free-boarding on 3rd Av.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 27, 2012 Share #5 Posted October 27, 2012 So then it'll probably be free boarding like Yuki mentioned above... The fareboxes aren't supposed to be in use on those buses and since the ticket machines aren't available, having people board and pay would just turn the bus into a LTD bus and slow it down, killing the whole point of SBS service. Since the disruption isn't that long free boarding makes the most sense.
Gorgor Posted October 27, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted October 27, 2012 Free boarding? Good thing that the MTA doesn't publicize this because then nobody would take the M101/M102/M103. Does anyone know where it makes stops though? Not all stops can be made at corresponding locations, such as 57th Street.
checkmatechamp13 Posted October 27, 2012 Share #7 Posted October 27, 2012 The detour is in effect all the way up to 125th, right?
Gorgor Posted October 27, 2012 Author Share #8 Posted October 27, 2012 The detour is in effect all the way up to 125th, right? In previous years it's been 1st Avenue to 53rd Street, then 3rd Avenue to 128th and down to 2nd.
FamousNYLover Posted October 27, 2012 Share #9 Posted October 27, 2012 Last maraton, dispatcher allowed M15 SBS to stop on 3rd Av/57th St NE, and they properly will.
FamousNYLover Posted October 27, 2012 Share #10 Posted October 27, 2012 Speaking off Marathon, M1 properly will use Lenox Av, 110th St, 7th Av, 116th St. Downtown M2, M3, M4 would use Central Park West from 110th to 86th Sts, via transverse rd to 84th St/5th Av. Uptown would properly use via 86 St, 5th Av or 85th St to transverse rd to Central Park West, regular route at 110th St. Downtown M96/M106/M116 properly would use 86th St Transverse Rd. I've made a map of last years changes and plan on releasing it as soon as I figure out this M15 SBS stop thing. And the M1 used Lenox, 110th, and turned around at the circle at Central Park West. FamousNYLover Posted October 27, 2012 Share #12 Posted October 27, 2012 I think M15 SBS will use same 53rd St from 1st to 3rd Avs. M60 buses will be RFK, into Major Deegan Expressway to Macomb Dams Bridge, then 7th Av, 146th/145th Sts, Lenox Av, regular route at 125th St.
