Around the Horn Posted February 1, 2013 Share #26 Posted February 1, 2013 In the original "The Amazing Spider-man (2012)" what car was used? Looks like an R32, but the rollsigns are like ones from R40-42's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4OaYc0IdTI its a "new york subway car" bulit by cbs studios in los angeles. Joel Up Front Posted February 2, 2013 Share #27 Posted February 2, 2013 It's an R32404262ABC Lo-Roof Hi-Deck Slant Modified Silverblueredbird ABCDEFGWXYZ MainSilverLine. In other words, it's a fake subway car designed by Hollywood propmakers who didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it came to our rapid transit cars. GojiMet86 Posted February 2, 2013 Share #28 Posted February 2, 2013 I like it how they actually had the correct signs: Ditmars Blvd, Astoria Coney Island

Joe Posted February 4, 2013 Share #31 Posted February 4, 2013 No clue. All I know is that these trucks can get a little TLC now.
Dan05979 Posted February 4, 2013 Share #32 Posted February 4, 2013 All those rebirds, 32 & 38 trucks that they had left over, the MTA couldn't give them a few for parts or spares?
Joe Posted February 4, 2013 Share #33 Posted February 4, 2013 The issue isn't parts. There are just a few things that can't be done while there's a car body sitting on top of the trucks.
Grand Concourse Posted February 4, 2013 Share #34 Posted February 4, 2013 So they don't have some way to lift the car body off the trucks there?
Joe Posted February 4, 2013 Share #35 Posted February 4, 2013 So they don't have some way to lift the car body off the trucks there? Of course we do. How do you think those false trucks with road tires got under the car before it departed? Lifting the car isn't an issue...it's been done many times. What needs to be done on the trucks won't take 20 or 30 minutes...the car body would have to be placed somewhere. Luckily, this temporary departure for #6688 was timed correctly, and gives us an opportunity to get some much needed work done without having to worry about a subway car lacking trucks. I want to try to get up there this year for a run on 6688. Bring a couple of transit workers with me. They should put some Chrome 26's with spinners....Im just saying. I guess now I see why the museum allowed that car to be moved for filming. Win for everyone.

I guess now I see why the museum allowed that car to be moved for filming. Win for everyone. I'm fairly sure that the car is still on those "road wheel" trucks. I want to try to get up there this year for a run on 6688. Bring a couple of transit workers with me. They should put some Chrome 26's with spinners....Im just saying. Ah forget the SMEE car...the Lo-V is much more fun.
