TransitJusticeForAll Posted December 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 5, 2015 Wow. I would LOVE to see this prototype of this train. If the MTA can pull off a train like this, then by all means, go for it.
peacemak3r Posted December 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 5, 2015 I can imagine these articulate trains on the and already, but wonder how'd they really perform in those spots with sharp turns, say Nevins Street.
Q44 SBS Posted December 6, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 6, 2015 And where will the conductor be if he or she need to close the doors and check if anyone might get caught on the closed door or possibility being drag?
bobtehpanda Posted December 6, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 6, 2015 And where will the conductor be if he or she need to close the doors and check if anyone might get caught on the closed door or possibility being drag? You know "open gangway" and OPTO are two different things, correct? It's probably going to be a linked 5-car set, the same way the R160 is set up. If you think the TWU is going to let something else happen, I have a bridge to sell you. Also, the title of this thread is misleading. "Open gangway" means you can walk-through; articulated means that the cars share trucks.
LTA1992 Posted December 6, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 6, 2015 I am going to go on a limb and say this test train will have a contract number higher than 211. And as stated before, open gangway does not equal articulated. What actually does make me laugh is these imaginary issues people think will exist just because you connect the cars. The overall car length does not have to change.
