Well the actual buses are built in Minnesota or Alabama (NFI) and Plattsburgh (Nova), so I doubt this law would actually be an issue.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this provision, and if Canada doesn't like it, tough $hit. We've been getting ripped off for years by China with their underhanded tactics and it's about time that we start using American taxpayer dollars to support American workers and OUR economy, instead everyone else's. This Buy American provision is extremely important for the Upstate region, which has been DEVASTATED due to a loss of jobs, and we cannot continue to lose our manufacturing jobs. We live in America and we must make things here in America. It's that simple. We've been exporting our jobs far too long because we want everything cheap, and that in turn has led to stagnant wages and a loss of millions of manufacturing jobs here. It's about time our elected officials are waking up. If Wynne wants to retaliate, let her go right on ahead. Canada needs the U.S. not the other around, and it's about time that America starts flexing its muscles and getting tough on trade. We've been getting pushed around now for years. Everyone wants to export their things here, but we're not suppose to make products and export them. Germany is the largest European market, and they EXPORT tons of things and they make sure they protect their manufacturing base and their jobs as they should. We have to do the same here and stop pandering to this one and that one.
bobtehpanda Posted February 9, 2018 Share #4 Posted February 9, 2018 Don't we already fund some of these purchases with federal money, which also requires Buy American? This just seems redundant at this point.

New Flyer owns their Ontario facility and they are a Canadian entity, so it makes me wonder how this would affect them. However, other than the typical vendors, buses from Orion & New Flyer are sometimes sent up to the Ontario service center to get worked on as well.
